My Magical System-Chapter 360: Revelation
Perhaps realizing something, an overbearing pressure suddenly erupted. Olivius’ gaze sharpened in an instant, a dangerous glint fleckering in his amber eyes.
In an icy voice, he asked, "Are you accusing my members?"
There was no wind — no dramatic visual effects like curtains whipping or glass shattering — only a cold stillness.
A silent threat filled the room.
The invisible pressure was enough to make the young woman by the door to tremble ever so slightly.
But to the person Olivius directing it at... the reaction was not what he expected.
Most people would already be on their knees, begging for forgiveness.
But this man?
Olivius couldn’t sense a single hint of discomfort from Eman.
No change in breath, posture, or composure.
It was the first time Olivius had seen someone hold such unwavering confidence.
’Is he that over confident... or just stupid?’ Olivius couldn’t help but wonder.
He directed his sharp gaze to Eman. If he didn’t answer properly, there would be consequences.
He would not leave this room — alive.
"The consequences of accusing my members..." Olivius added, his voice dropping lower, "are far too great."
It wasn’t a warning, but a threat.
To his surprise—
"Accusing...?" Eman murmured as if turning the word over in his head. Not confused, just... amused.
"If I came here merely to accuse," Eman said calmly, "that would be far too reckless of me."
Olivius’ brow twitched. "Those are your words."
"Indeed," Eman replied. "But have you considered the possibility that maybe a rival clan had managed to infiltrate your group?"
Olivius’ eyes narrowed dangerously.
The temperature in the room seemed to plummet.
"...Infiltrate?" Olivius repeated, voice barely above a whisper.
He silently observed Eman, thinking whether he was serious or not. Although it wasn’t impossible to send a spy to infiltrate a rival clan, the question was... what their rival clan could gain from making the Red Tyrant Clan have a fuse with a lowly clan?
Eman’s mouth curled upward slightly. He didn’t need to wait for Olivius’ next words as he could read from his expression what he was currently thinking.
"The hint is fucos."
Olivius eyes flinched. "Fu... cos?"
"Recently, I heard about a ruin appearing near the shared border of two powerful families."
Olivius’ eyes contracted in an instance upon hearing the word ruin.
"A ruin?" He finally revealed a surprise expression. "Do you mean... they purposely shifted our focus away from it?" Olivius sharp gaze flailed, "but that still not enough..." his last line was whispered to himself.
Eman smiled internally from Olivius’ response.
Olivius’ glance shifted from Eman and behind him and then back to Eman again. The shift happened in a blink of an eye.
He thought Eman didn’t seem like he was lying, but there was a bitter feeling in his gut that he couldn’t explain.
He fell silent for a moment before shifting his gaze again behind Eman — to the young woman by the door.
"Eun, did we receive any message from my family?" He asked her.
Eun, the young woman, calmly shook her head. "We didn’t. No one from the family sent to us a message this month regarding a ruin."
Olivius then shifted back his gaze to Eman. This time, his gaze was cold.
"You..."
However, before Olivius could start an outburst against him, Eman revealed something that completely stunned Olivius and Eun.
"I heard some rumors that people from high noble households were assassinated in the middle of their stay in the capital."
Eman went directly and revealed shocking news. He didn’t directly mention who those victims were to let them think about it.
After Dos gave him a report last time, he learned about the assassination incidents happening in the Imperial Capital. He asked him to send someone to investigate the identity of the victims, and if possible, he wanted to learn the identity of the one behind the killings.
When Eman learned the truth, he was surprised. All those victims were connected to one family, the Count Argola’s family.
Thanks to some important documents that the thief guild from Soda Town managed to get for him, he learned that the Argola Family and Gentlewind Family shared the same border at the Northeastern part of the empire.
Not long ago, he also heard about a ruin appearing at the border. It turned out that ruin was indeed located at the shared border of Gentlewind and Argola families.
It wasn’t hard to connect the dots. The Gentlewind family wanted to solo all the possible treasures in that ruin.
He concluded that the assassination was connected to it.
However, there was a big question.
—Why did they do the assassination outside their home territory or away from their turf?—
Those two family states were far from the Imperial Capital. If the Gentlewind Family really wanted to lower the power of the Argola Family, they didn’t need to attack their members who were far away from their turf. They could just launch a direct attack on the Argola Family.
Meaning... their motive wasn’t truly to wipe out the Argola Family, but to prevent something from interfering. That was Eman’s conclusion.
If the incident of the Merciless Clan with the Red Tyrant Clan didn’t happen, Eman would have just pushed those assassination incidents to the corner of his mind.
But since it happened, he had to gather some data regarding their opponent this time, the Red Tyrant Clan.
And when Eman learned about the identity of the Red Tyrant Clan’s Leader, being the son of that family who shared same border with the Gentlewind Family, he concluded that all of these were just part of a great scheme. And the Merciless Clan being the sacrifice.
The Argola Family wasn’t truly powerful... because their real power lies in the Red Tyrant Clan.
In short, the Gentlewind Family trying to prevent the Red Tyrant Clan from intervening.
That means, the Gentlewind Family didn’t want to share the ruin to their neighbors.
Although dangerous, Ruins were after all full of treasures.
Last time, before heading out of Soda Town, Eman took a detour in a Thief Guild — Soda Branch. He paid them to steal documents. These documents were very well stored inside a palace’ restricted chamber — very restricted as they were containing important informations.
Those documents contains informations regarding the Great Noble, the High Noble, and the Lower Noble families.
However, due to some incidents all around the empire, the palace’ security had been lax recently. Eman found it a good chance to act. That was the reason he went to visit the Thief Guild in Soda Town.
How did he know about those secret documents? He was at the palace quite a few times already. He learned about the secret chamber after roaming secretly.
Eman unveiled to the guildmaster some information including layout of the chamber just so their chances of stealing the documents could rise a little. The guildmaster wondered how he obtained a detailed layout but since it was against their rules to pry into their customers’ business, they didn’t push the matter regarding it.
Back to the present.
Olivius snapped, crushing the quill pen in hand.
With trembling voice, he asked, "You... how certain are you with this information?"
Eman could fell a cold metallic chill almost pressing against his neck. That’s right — the moment Eman entered the room, he perserved many invisible presence inside the room.
Visibly, there were only three people inside the room — He, Olivius, and the young woman by the door.
However, in Eman’s perception, there were at least about 20 hidden people aside from them. They were Olivius’ elite guards.
Even with his high perception, their presence was hidden in a thick smoke. But anyway, he could still perceive them.
Acting as though he didn’t notice them, Eman replied calmly.
"Sorry, but it’s against my honor to reveal my source identity. I hope you’ll understand."
Initially, he wanted to joke a little by saying he got the information from gossiping, but seeing Olivius serious expression — like an unsheathed weapon ready to cut off anyone’s head — Eman immediately dismissed the idea and went to tell the truth.
There were a couple of seconds of cold silence before Olivius gritted his teeth and muttered—
"Blue Serpent..."
