My Mysterious Hidden Husband-Chapter 473: Peach Is My Daughter
As Landon Sutton finished speaking, the door behind him opened, and Shannon Quinn’s gentle voice came through: "Your gloves are in your backpack. Don’t be like your dad. He doesn’t mind getting a cold and needing injections and medicine, but you’d better not catch a cold."
Leo smiled, then turned around and ran back to his room to get his gloves.
Landon Sutton frowned and glared at her, then asked, "Did we wake you?"
"I woke up when Leo knocked on the door, just didn’t feel like moving. You play with Leo; I’ll make breakfast today."
"If you’re tired, sleep a bit more."
Shannon Quinn turned and walked into the room, took a pair of men’s gloves from the wardrobe drawer, and held them out to Landon Sutton, asking, "Does the big man want gloves?"
Landon Sutton reached out to take them and started putting them on, saying, "Just cook some noodles, nothing too complicated."
Leo found his gloves and ran outside, eagerly dragging his dad to the small garden to play in the snow.
Shannon Quinn stood by the window watching the father and son, with an involuntary smile on her lips.
She had thought countless times that she would never have such a perfect and happy life again.
It was those life-and-death separations that made her cherish everything in front of her so much more.
The next day, Landon Sutton sent someone to deliver the items that they had picked out at the supermarket last time but hadn’t had the chance to pay for.
Shannon Quinn then discussed with Susan Wilde and Erin Bishop about decorating the room to prepare for the New Year.
Of course, they didn’t handle it themselves; they were just there to direct.
This was crooked, that seemed a bit out of place here, and this thing was a little in the way.
Then their husbands had to hustle around because of a few words from them.
After half a day of work, the house barely looked like it was ready for the New Year.
Grandpa had been in the hospital for a week and had moved to a general ward two days ago.
Although he hadn’t been discharged, on the day of the reunion dinner, they could bring him home to feel the atmosphere.
The old man wasn’t as spirited as he used to be, but his sharp tongue and soft heart hadn’t changed one bit.
When Susan Wilde went to visit him, he still put on a front and didn’t ask about Susan Wilde and her unborn child.
He acted as if he didn’t care, but as soon as Susan Wilde and Simon Rhodes talked a bit about the twins in their conversation, the old man perked up his ears, afraid of missing anything.
Some habits last a lifetime, and it’s probably hard to change them, but once you understand that the old man is just like this, you start to find him rather endearing.
On New Year’s Eve, Sheila Yardley was going to spend the New Year with Isaac Sheffield at his family’s home, so on the twenty-ninth, Sheila Yardley brought Isaac Sheffield home for dinner.
During the dinner, Isaac Sheffield seemed like a very straightforward and excellent young man.
Catherine Yardley inquired about a few things, and he answered very patiently, even saying that they planned to hold the wedding with Sheila after the New Year.
Overall, Catherine Yardley was optimistic about them; she didn’t run her mind around his illustrious family or limitless wealth, mainly because she saw that Isaac Sheffield was good to Sheila, so she naturally didn’t oppose their marriage.
It’s just that Shannon Quinn felt Sheila Yardley seemed to have some reservations. Although she didn’t say anything opposed, she looked very bewildered about her future, lacking the longing and desire for marriage.
After dinner, Isaac Sheffield chatted with Landon Sutton about work matters.
Just as Shannon Quinn had some things she wanted to say to Sheila Yardley alone, she called her into the room.
Shannon Quinn pulled her to sit on the sofa by the window in the bedroom, smiled, and asked, "Why do I feel like you’re burdened with worries? Cold feet?"
Sheila Yardley pressed her lips into a smile and nodded: "Kind of, I think I’ve gotten used to living as a single person, and adapting to living with someone else feels a bit troubling."
Shannon Quinn paused and asked, "You don’t love Isaac Sheffield, do you?"
Sheila Yardley was startled, looking at Shannon Quinn in confusion, as if she didn’t understand why she would reach such a conclusion.
Shannon Quinn analyzed: "If two people are in love, adaptation shouldn’t feel forced. He would naturally become a part of your life."
Sheila Yardley did not deny that she didn’t love Isaac Sheffield, just said uncertainly: "Maybe it hasn’t been long enough."
"So you should think carefully about marriage."
Actually, when Sheila Yardley first heard Isaac Sheffield mention marriage, she felt very confused inside, not knowing how to decide.
After thinking all night, she thought that maybe if she pushed herself, the knots bothering her might untangle faster.
As for love, she seemed to no longer have that feeling.
The feeling for Isaac Sheffield seemed more like the identity of being boyfriend and girlfriend telling her how to interact with him.
It’s like a person who doesn’t want to get married just reaching the marriageable age and randomly marrying someone. That’s just meeting societal expectations of their age rather than love from within.
She didn’t reject Isaac Sheffield, yet didn’t have that kind of passionate love for him.
"Sis, actually there’s something I haven’t told you." After a moment of silence and internal struggle, Sheila Yardley spoke.
"Hmm?"
Sheila Yardley pursed her lips, her hands tangled uncomfortably, and after taking a deep breath, said, "Actually, Peach...is my daughter."
Hearing this, Shannon Quinn just smiled without much surprise and reached out to hold Sheila Yardley’s hand to comfort her anxiety, saying, "Actually, I’ve suspected for a while, after all, Peach looks so much like you."
Shannon Quinn didn’t ask about the past with Caleb Grant because since she had decided to marry Isaac Sheffield, it meant all factors had been thoughtfully considered. She just asked, "Does Isaac Sheffield know?"
Sheila Yardley nodded: "When we first got together, I admitted to him that I had a child. He was very surprised. I thought he would leave, but he said he didn’t care about my past, so I agreed to try dating him."
"And normally? Is he good to you?"
Sheila Yardley nodded again: "He takes care of me well, although he’s not always very meticulous, but as long as he realizes something, he’ll actively do it."
"As long as he treats you well, neither I nor Mom has any objections." Shannon Quinn didn’t mention that Landon Sutton had said that Isaac Sheffield had been quite a player in the past.
Given that they seem to be getting along well now.
Perhaps Isaac Sheffield could be the next Ronan Rhodes? Meeting the girl he loves and turning over a new leaf isn’t impossible, especially since Ronan still hasn’t gotten over Charlotte Sheffield’s passing.
So Shannon Quinn also didn’t pass judgment on the current Isaac Sheffield based on his past. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
Sheila Yardley pursed her lips and hesitated to speak. Just as Shannon Quinn was about to ask something else, Isaac Sheffield called from downstairs, saying it was time for Sheila Yardley to leave.
Isaac Sheffield apologized with a smile: "We have to go back and pack some things and drive back to our hometown, so we must leave tonight."
