My Notoriety Spreads Throughout the World-Chapter 439 - 379: Sigh, Can We Reconcile? (Double-Length)
End all this before the miracle erupts.
To figure out what happened, I need to go to the Royal City in person.
There's no time to lose. Sevia immediately got up, thanked the old woman and the Lord, and was about to leave when the old woman called her back. Turning around, she saw the complexity and heaviness in the old woman's expression.
"Miss, could I ask you for a favor?"
The hope in the elderly woman's eyes made Sevia's gaze flicker slightly.
"My daughter is ill, and I think you might have a way to help her."
"I..." Sevia wanted to say something, but then thought that perhaps the old lady had seen her perform Vitality Magic and that's why she sought her out.
Having just received the kindness of others, she had no reason to refuse.
"Alright, I'll do my best."
The wrinkles on the old woman's face eased a bit as she turned and walked deeper into the tavern,
"Follow me, she's in the basement."
Sevia quickly followed, walking silently through the long corridor.
Entering the second-to-last storeroom, she watched as the woman went to the center of the room, squatted down, opened the rug, dusted it off, and revealed the locked cellar entrance before Sevia.
The elderly woman quickly found the key on her key ring. Whether it was Sevia's illusion or not, when the dusty cellar door was slowly opened, a chilling wind accompanied by a faint eerie woman's sobbing could be heard echoing from deep within.
Sevia shook her head and followed the woman down the steps through a narrow passage built of bricks and stones, arriving at an underground room.
In the dim light, a figure was crouched in the corner with her back to Sevia, laughing shrilly from time to time.
"Heh heh..."
"Heh heh heh..."
Could it be a woman?
But as Sevia approached, the woman's back loomed increasingly larger in her eyes. As she crouched, her head nearly touched the basement ceiling, completely blocking the light from the small window. She squatted before her like a small sturdy mountain, her shoulders shaking incessantly with 'heh heh' shrill laughter.
She saw that the woman's severely atrophied legs were squeezed into the folds of a bloated abdomen, her bare back covered in filthy, hard hair, her spine arched like that of a rodent, with bones protruding sharply.
Meanwhile, from the woman's body emanated the stench of sewage and a strong odor of blood, rushing into Sevia's nostrils.
As the figure moved, the chains bound to her clanged and rattled. The woman's similarly devolved hands grabbed a sticky lump from a nearby wooden barrel, bringing it to her mouth, those unusually slender arms looking decidedly inhuman.
In the darkness, an unsettling chewing sound resonated.
"Heh heh heh..."
"Heh heh..."
Sevia could see clearly,
that the woman was holding a fistful of bloody meat, countless pale human bones scattered beneath her, glaringly stark.
The creature seemed to have sensed something, sniffed the air lightly, and turned around. Sevia saw on her chest and abdomen...
Six glaringly obvious mouse-like teats.
Sevia quickly turned her head back, only to see the old woman staring at her intently, her face twisted into a ghastly smile, retreating step by step into the shadows, while a slender hand reached from behind to grasp her shoulder.
"Heh heh heh..."
"Heh heh..."
...
Oasis, Fog Village port.
"Life-Devouring Tooth Pendant, adds twenty points to the Agility and three points to the Power Attributes, does anyone need it?" The buzz-cut youth Baker Xiaobei raised the pendant in hand, asking the crowd.
"It smells awful, a pendant made from rat teeth, no thanks," Priest Soft Cat pinched her nose and said.
"Wearing such a thing around my neck, just thinking about it gives me goosebumps, I won't fight you for it," Wendy the sniper said. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
"If Wendy doesn't want it, then neither do I," Xixi said spiritedly, raising her hand.
"Attributes with Agility for our melee fighters are a disgrace," Tyrant Bear said, crossing his arms.
The corner of Golden Beetle's mouth twitched slightly, thinking that if it were a league match, every Commander would enforce strict requirements for Agility Attributes on Support Positions, otherwise in sudden situations, by the time the enemy's skirmishers manage to take down the Commander or Enhancer, the Support would arrive too late to make any difference.
"As an analyst, I don't need to arm myself," the glasses-wearing man adjusted his glasses.
"Hm, Main Agility Attribute, although its attributes are higher than my 'Ice Soul Pendant,' it's just a whiteboard item with no passive effects, so I won't fight you for it," Shadow Weaving Poem said, spreading his hands.
Just as the members of the Light Chasing Garden were rolling for the loot, the atmosphere harmonious, an uninvited guest arrived.
Bam—
The loud gunshot tore through the night.
Priest Soft Cat hadn't even reacted when blossoms of blood exploded from her chest, her health bar emptied instantly, pupils contracting violently as she fell limply to the ground and turned into light before dissipating.
"Soft Cat Sister!" Shadow Weaving Poem exclaimed in shock.
"Not good, we're under attack!"
Golden Beetle shouted, raising the shield in hand, casting the 'Steel Barrier' effect over everyone present.
Seeing the red aim line appear again on Xixi's forehead, the other guild members quickly regained their senses, surrounding the long-range professions in the very center, assuming defensive positions.
"Come out if you've got the guts!"
"Which guild are you from, only dare to launch sneak attacks?"
"Don't target the girls, come at me!"
As the guild members vigilantly scanned their surroundings, trying to locate their assailant, the culprit swaggered out, sporting a half-pulled purple ponytail and a bullet shell cigar gripped between sharp teeth, with such androgynous features it was hard to tell the gender.
