Chapter 132: - Something Is Wrong -

"I’ve been having this tugging feeling in my chest that something is about to go really wrong. But I just don’t know how, when or where. I don’t even know if it’s me or her who’s in danger. And it’s not as if I can lock her down here with me. Though I would if I could, but she wouldn’t like that and that is the only fucking thing holding me back."

He sounded frustrated, eyes dark and heavy as he stared out the window.

[Alright, calm down] The sound of a tapping finger sounded on the other side of the call. [Honestly, anything could go wrong at any time. Has it been at least twp months and counting since you fell in love with this human? Since you’ve been together with her]

"Yes. So what?"

[Then it won’t be a surprise if the calamity hits at any moment. Nikolas, you knew what you were getting into, loving and being a woman that wasn’t your mate even though there was a high chance your mate was out there. The worst part is I have no clue if you have enough time to find her. Or if...this is the calamity coming or not. You’re just going to hope for the best—]

"This isn’t what I wanted to hear! I wanted a damn solution, Caterina."

[And I don’t have one! I have tried my best. I have warned you of it. The only way you can stop this is by leaving that human. Break off whatever you have with her and—]

"NEVER!" Nikolas gritted out, his face twisted in the darkest of rage he’d ever held. "I would never do that and I would rather cut my throat and feel myself bleed out than ever do such a thing. She’s mine and I don’t give a shit how hard any of this is trying to fuck around with me. Calamity? It can go fuck itself. We’ll see how it takes her from me. It won’t happen unless I decide so. This is my life, my feelings, that woman is mine and no mate bullshit is going to decide my life, who the hell I be with or what I do with my feelings. It decides NOTHING!"

[Nikolas] Caterina paused. [Will it really be worth it if either you or her dies]

"And I said, this calamity can go fuck itself. I’ve had enough!"

He hung up, throwing the cell phone. It sailed across the room into the couch before bumping to fall on the floor.

Nikoloas stood, shoulders rising and falling in heavy breathing.

———

Just like she’d promised Nikolas, she had done her best to finish work earlier and now she had about an hour before she needed to call and have him pick her up.

Using that time, she met up with Sabrina who was now seated at the coffee shop, right across Vizera Luxe. She worked for Nikolas and for her to be able to come, it was for sure her day off.

But the worrisome thing now was her being absent minded. Since she came, they could talk for a few moments just for her to end up falling into thoughts.

"Sabrina?"

No answer.

"Sabrina!"

Sabrina snapped out of it. She quickly looked at her. "W-what?"

"What are you thinking so hard about?" Viviana asked. "And why are you blushing so hard like you’ve been caught doing something you shouldn’t be doing?"

"It’s nothing like that!"

"It’s a man, isn’t it? Did you find a lover or something?"

"No."

"Be honest now." Viviana narrowed her eyes on her. "We’re best friends. We’re not being secretive now, are we?"

Sabrina dragged her fingers through her hair. "Okay, yes I did meet this man." She leaned back against the chair. "It was a brief kind of meeting and he’s been stuck in my head ever since. I can’t seem to get him out of my mind, and I even end up dreaming of him, Viviana."

"Uh..." Viviana blinked at her.

Sabrina’s expression grew dazed. "He was like...the most beautiful I’d ever seen. His image is stuck right here in my head and everytime... everytime I close my eyes, he’s all I see. I-I want to see him again, but all he gave me was his name and now he’s gone like he doesn’t even exist. I searched, I tried to track, to find him, but he’s nowhere on the media and... it’s like he doesn’t exist and I’m starting to think that maybe I hallucinated."

"Oh..."

Viviana didn’t know what to say.

"That’s...unexpected."

"I have a question." Sabrina leaned in. "What is it like to love a vampire? Someone like Nikolas Bastiani."

Viviana cocked a brow. "What’s it like? I just...love him? The only difference is that he isn’t human, but I love him all the same. Is the love you have towards one supposed to feel different because they aren’t human."

Sabrina threw her head back. "This is driving me crazy."

"Wait. This man you speak of, is he—"

"Did you come with the USB?" She quickly digressed, burying the subject.

Viviana narrowed her eyes on her, but responded nonetheless. "I didn’t come with the USB. It’s risky to bring it along. It’s the only thing I have against Fernando, the only way I can bring him down, so I need to be careful with it."

"That makes sense." Sabrina asked. "When do we make use of it?"

"It’s not the time yet. Before we do, we must get all attention on him first. That way, it will hit harder than he’d ever expect."

Viviana clenched her hands on the table.

"You’ve been watching him right?"

"Yes. As expected, the company has been taken from him and handed over to his sister, Graciela."

"Oh."

"You best believe he’s miserable. The already horrible relationship between him and his sister has worsened."

Viviana crossed her legs. "I see."

"So, he should be in the limelight soon. The topic of discussion. And it shouldn’t take more than two days," she added.

Sabrina agreed with her. "And after about a few days of it, we strike, right?"

"Yes." Viviana’s eyes grew cold. "We strike and bury him down once and for all."

...

Their discussion finally ended and Viviana who’d left the store, picked out her phone, trying to dial Nikolas’s number. But then she frowned, stopping.

She glanced around her surroundings, scowlings.

Something was wrong.

It wasn’t paranoia because she could feel the hairs on her back rising. Someone was following her.
