My Perfect Revenge: Flash Marriage With My Vampire Tycoon-Chapter 141: – Lucia --
Lucian refused. He shook his head at him. "I can’t. I can’t watch you like this. I—"
"Have you lost your mind?" Nikolas asked, but his voice had considerably gone weaker from exhaustion enduring the pain he was in. "You have your family, your little girl. What do you think will happen when she learns that her father died? Who do you want to leave her for? Francesca?"
He lifted his head to lock gazes with him. "Don’t you dare, Lucian. You roped her into your life. You gave her your heart and she turned for you. She loved you right back and gave you a life. So don’t you dare abandon her. If you hurt her, doesn’t matter that I’m dying, but I will make you pay for myself one way or another. You don’t have the right to hurt her. So back off, and don’t come here."
Lucian’s legs grew weak. He dropped to the floor on his knees, shoulders slumped as his gaze cast downward in absolute helplessness.
For the first time since he last remembered, the man began tearing up, the hands he had by his sides, trembling. He knew Nikolas was right. He had a family to live for, a family to protect, and it made everything harder. He didn’t know what to do.
"You can’t leave me..." was all he could breathe out. "You can’t abandon me."
"Get over it."
Nikolas was now breathing with his mouth.
"Stop acting like a child, we’re not kids anymore. Aren’t you supposed to be the older one between us? So what if I do?"
Lucian shook his head. "No. I need you. I need my twin brother, so if you could just..." He had never felt so helpless in his entire life. "I’m sorry for fighting with you. I-I shouldn’t have. And I... I’m sorry."
Nikolas stared at him, and his gaze softened. He knew Fernando was letting this go on, because they wanted to, he wanted to witness a vampire burn to death right before his eyes.
A soft breath fled his nose. "Lucian."
No answer.
"Lucian, looked at me."
He did. Lucian did.
Nikolas tried to sound louder. His throat had gone too dry. "None of this is your fault. And you have to understand that. If anything, it’s mine. Don’t blame yourself for being unable to save me. And..."
He half smiled. "...I love you."
Lucian wet eyes had grown wide, pupils shrinking as if he could see memories of them flashing before him.
Nikolas looked over to Viviana. Fernando’s fingers had weaved into her hair, gripping and she was holding his wrist, face scrunched in pain, though she refused to make a sound.
"I’m sorry for putting you into this mess..."
Viviana blinked at him. "Nikolas."
"This is all happening because of me. Because of my selfishness. And—" He coughed so much harder this time, bucking over in pure agony. He couldn’t breathe properly anymore.
Every breath exerted his lungs, starving him of complete oxygen.
Viviana struggled to get to him. She cried. She begged. And all that earned her was Fernando pissed off and hurting her more than he already did.
.....
By now, Lucia who’d slipped out of the car, was running around in whatever direction she saw, trying to find her father and uncle.
"Daddy..."
Her tiny voice rang out softly.
"Uncle Niko...?"
What would anyone think if they saw a little five year old girl moving about, lost and confused.
She was still clutching her midnight blue teddy bear to her chest, big gentle eyes glancing around with little fears in them. "My feet hurt..." She is barefoot and afraid. But she kept walking.
As little as she was, she was smart enough to know that somehow, she was still close to her father and her uncle.
The more Lucia went further in, the more she started to hear grunts, coughs, and conversations. Just to be safe, after all, she knew to be wary of strangers, she hid behind a large tree, tilting her head a little bit to find out what’s going on.
Her gaze landed on Fernando first, and then they fell, stopping on Viviana who looked a pathetic mess. A tiny gasp tore from her. "Auntie..."
Then her eyes shifted, this time, halting on Nikolas who was half step away from his imminent death. Her pupils dilated, and she staggered back, almost falling. "U-uncle Niko..."
She squatted and watched what was happening for a while longer. Viviana was sobbing like a child. Nikolas kept coughing out blood over and over again. The scary man with a weapon was of course grinning from ear to ear. The more she saw all these, the more her eyes grew wet, the tears that had formed in them, breaking and falling.
"Uncle Niko."
Grabbing her teddy bear by its hand, she ran out, at quite a high speed, that even as a child, was still faster than a regular human and grabbed Fernando.
Shocked and confused, Fernando lowered his gaze to find an unfamiliar little child gripping at his leg.
"What the fuck?"
"Lucia!" Nikolas shook with fear.
Viviana’s mouth fell apart. "No!"
Lucian froze. Lucia? What was she doing here? "No, fuck, LUCIA!"
"You let my uncle go!" as she glared up at him, her nails grew sharp and she dug them into his thighs, hurting him so deeply, Fernando screamed.
"You damned kid!" His eyes grew red with rage and he kicked her so hard, she hit the floor with a heavy thud, tumbling for a few seconds before finally stopping. Everything froze.
Heavy silence dropped.
Olive who hadn’t spoken all this while shook where he stood. Fernando was a ruthless man, he knew that. But to...hurt a child? The little girl didn’t even look anything above age four or five.
"LUCIA!!!" Lucian bellowed with the fear that only a father could exhibit for his child. He didn’t care anymore, running into the sun. And even as if he could feel the burns, he ran to his girl, picking her up.
