My Professions Have Too Much Personality-Chapter 140 - 109: The Priest’s Might, Black Tuo Divine Blood (Part 2)
"Alright, I understand." Yang Yan didn’t pay it much mind. He watched Su Chen leave, then turned and went back into the building.
’He actually ran?’ Under the cover of night, Su Chen turned a few corners and slipped into the shadows, making his way into a residential building.
He glanced around, first using his boots to conceal his presence, then transformed into a Priest Black Tuo.
Almost instantly, he sensed a vague pull. Perhaps because he was closer, the sensation was much clearer now. Whatever it was, it was moving quickly.
’Based on its trajectory, it just passed the Pang Family Mansion...’ Su Chen’s expression flickered. ’It’s still early. I’ll see where they’re going.’
......
"You... you’re Deceitful God’s Followers!"
In a basement somewhere, devoid of daylight, only a few small lamps cast a dim, flickering glow.
Pang Xingwen cowered in a corner of the room, staring in terror at the two figures before him.
Just one day ago, he had been the follower of a Core Seed, an Inner Court Seed with the potential to one day become a Chief Judge.
In a single day, his entire world had been turned upside down.
While on the run, he had come to understand why the Pang Family had been annihilated: his father had colluded with the Deceitful God Sect!
"You don’t need to fear us. We were good friends with your father," said the man with no facial features, his voice low and deep.
"Your father was a practical man. We hope you are as well," the Faceless Ghost Follower added, his tone gentle.
"You must have forced my father!" Pang Xingwen roared.
"Fool! If your father hadn’t accepted our help, you would never have even been born!" the Black Tuo Follower snapped.
"Out of respect for your father, we’ll give you a choice: join us, or die!"
Hearing those words, dripping with killing intent, Pang Xingwen—who had been on the verge of a breakdown—suddenly grew calm. His expression became dazed. "I... I... I..."
"Why were we suddenly discovered?" he asked, as if compelled by some unseen force.
"Perhaps because of... Su Chen." The Faceless Ghost glanced at the Black Tuo Follower beside him. "We needed to make a move on Su Chen for certain reasons, but our abrupt invitation may have alerted Xia Hanshi."
"Su Chen?" Pang Xingwen’s pupils constricted, his dazed expression slowly twisting into one of venomous hatred. "It’s him again! It’s always him!"
"If it weren’t for him, I’d still be the young master of the Pang Family!"
He had been raised under the tutelage of Ying Feng. His loathing for the Deceitful God Sect was bone-deep, giving him a natural aversion to joining them.
He needed a reason to justify his fall from grace, and this resentment toward Su Chen became the pillar supporting his decision to defect to the Deceitful God Sect.
’It’s not that I want to join the Deceitful God Sect. I just have no other choice!’ 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Pang Xingwen gritted his teeth. "I can join you, but you have to let me kill him with my own hands!"
"Don’t worry, you’ll get your chance."
The two Believers exchanged a glance and made their promise. "Now, we need you to..."
KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!
Before he could finish, the Faceless Ghost Follower whipped his head around, his expression alarmed. "A faint Spiritual Power is probing this area."
...
’This must be the place...’ Following the strange pull, Su Chen arrived near a construction site.
Under the cloak of night, work at the site had ceased. The surrounding buildings were only partially finished, with construction materials piled everywhere.
Su Chen hid in the shadows. Aided by his Tier Three Shadow Concealing Wind Boots, it would be difficult for most of Ying Feng’s surveillance systems to detect him.
’Hmm, should I report this or just handle it myself...’
Su Chen mulled it over. Ying Feng’s personnel were far more competent than Southwind’s. If he reported this, he’d likely only be able to watch from a distance, with no chance to fish in troubled waters.
’I’m really in need of some Deceitful God’s Power...’ He tried to use his Spiritual Power to probe the area, his brow furrowing slightly. ’Three people. Two of them have strong Life Magnetic Fields. Probably Tier Three. This could be tricky...’
’But one of them must be a Black Tuo Follower, and I’m a Priest Black Tuo. Plus, with my current strength, escaping won’t be a problem.’
With that thought, Su Chen hesitated no longer. He walked straight up to a temporary sheet-metal shed and knocked on the door.
"Someone’s here this late?"
The two Deceitful God’s Followers grew vigilant. The Faceless Ghost Follower, who specialized in Mental Perception, spoke. "It’s probably a Tier Two Professional, but their Life Magnetic Field is strange."
"A Tier Two Professional?" The Black Tuo Follower was even more baffled. If it were pursuers, they wouldn’t be Tier Two. If it were a worker, it’s even less likely they’d be a Tier Two Professional.
"Pang Xingwen, you get the door." He looked at the only normal person present. Both of them were fanatics, and the marks of the Deceitful God on them were too conspicuous.
While they could kill a Tier Two Professional with ease, these were special circumstances. It was best to deceive the newcomer if possible.
Pang Xingwen shrank further into the corner, but the walls were on all sides; he had no escape. His Adam’s apple bobbed. He had no choice but to force himself up and walk to the door.
He was still reeling in terror. Even as he opened the door, he was wondering if agreeing to help these two had been the right decision.
But the moment he thought of Su Chen, the hatred in his heart gave him all the justification he needed.
’As long as I can...’ Pang Xingwen’s thought trailed off as his unfocused gaze sharpened to a pinpoint. He cried out in shock, "Su... Su Chen!"
He never, ever imagined that the very enemy he had just been cursing in his heart would suddenly appear right before his eyes.
"You... you... you..." He stared at the familiar face, momentarily rendered speechless.
"Su Chen?"
The two Believers hidden on either side of the door jolted. The Black Tuo Follower, in particular, was overcome with a surge of excitement.
The divine oracle had been clear: this person was of the utmost importance and must be sacrificed to the Holy Spirit at any cost.
With the Pang Family’s annihilation, they had thought their chance was lost. They never imagined their target would simply appear right in front of them.
