Chapter 21: Chapter 21: Schadenfreude _1

Ye Lu could only swallow her agony.

She must brush her teeth, cleanse her intestines, wash her stomach. The damn jerk’s saliva is definitely poisonous, it will kill her.

"Why were you so gentle with me just now?"

Shang Jingchen looked at her with a cold expression: "It’s just acting, don’t think I actually care about you. You think I tolerate your presence because I want to, but it’s because I know my mother has spies everywhere. Since we’re playing the roles of boyfriend and girlfriend, we should at least act the part."

Ye Lu finally understood. He was just putting on a show for Madam Shang. No wonder the damn jerk had suddenly become so gentle.

"So you must show up every day while I’m in the hospital."

He must convince his mother that he is sincere this time, so that he can execute his plan smoothly.

He coldly assessed the woman in front of him. She was a perfect fit for his scheme: cunning, crude, nouveau riche, greedy, capable of acting, all meeting his requirements.

That’s why he had wrapped her up for ten million. This time, he would surely succeed.

For the past few days, Ye Lu had to check into the hospital daily and the damn jerk, finding her annoying, constantly ordered her around.

Why didn’t he just bash his head and render himself stupid? One hole in his head would be too lenient for him.

Damned jerk, don’t think you’re the only one who can torture, hmph, her vengeance is strong too.

Just wait and see, not only would she torment him, but she would also make money off him in the process.

"Shop assistant, give me a bottle of bad perfume, the worst kind, if it’s not bad enough, I’ll complain!!!" Ye Lu was practically snarling, leaning over the counter with gritted teeth.

The clerks were shaking in fear at her terrifying demeanor. They’d had customers who asked for high-quality perfume, but never someone who demanded the worst, threatening to complain if it was not terrible enough.

The shop assistant nervously brought out a bottle of blackened perfume.

"Miss, this perfume is a year expired, it should meet your requirements."

"Excellent, damn jerk, you’re dead."

Ye Lu gleefully left with her perfume.

When she arrived at the hospital room, some business company people had just visited and left a basket of flowers.

Ye Lu grinned wickedly, taking the basket of flowers and dousing them with the awful perfume for quite a bit.

"Ugh, I feel like throwing up... It truly is terrible." Ye Lu covered her nose, hastily bringing the flowers inside.

Shang Jingchen was engrossed in his company documents, barely looking up as he snorted disdainfully.

"You’re late today."

"I was just a little late."

"Be punctual next time. I detest tardiness."

"Hmph, I detest you even more," muttered Ye Lu to herself before quietly placing the basket of flowers on the table by the hospital bed. She then started picking up her work again diligently.

After a while, she sneakily glanced back at Shang Jingchen, noticing him rubbing his nose with a slight wrinkle in his brow.

Why isn’t he reacting yet?

This horrendous perfume should be quite potent.

"What are you looking at?" Noticing her constant peeks at him, Shang Jingchen suddenly grew interested. Although she verbally claimed to dislike him, her little gestures did not escape his notice, suggesting she wasn’t entirely immune to his charm.

"Nothing!" Ye Lu quickly dropped her gaze.

Shang Jingchen flashed an evil grin: "I permit you to look at me openly."

Ye Lu was speechless. How narcissistic.

Finally, Shang Jingchen became aware of the unbearable fragrance hitting his nose, causing an irresistible urge to sneeze.

He couldn’t help but sneeze continuously.

"Are you alright?" Ye Lu jumped to his bedside, her eyes shining brightly.

"Ah-choo..." Shang Jingchen sneezed again. Looking at the sparkles in her eyes too close to him, he ground his teeth, "Are you taking joy in my misery?"

"Of course not! I was worried about you, worried that you might sneeze so hard that your head could split open. That would be a disaster."
