My Seven Wives in One Body and Me, her Manager-Chapter 105: Aftermath Report and Walking Back To Nearest School
Several hours later, at the hospital, Dennis and Daisy sat in the lobby waiting for the next update from the police. They had already been examined and questioned, their statements bolstered by the video footage Sami had recorded and saved on Dennis’s smartphone. The police had already identified the man; he was a lifer on their records who had escaped from Aquamarine City.
However, he was currently in such a half-dead state that, even as a dhampir, it would take at least a month for him to recover. Dennis turned to look at Daisy’s neck, now bandaged where Norman had bitten her. He clenched his fist again, his emotions steadying despite a brief flare of anger.
"Is your neck still hurting, honey?" Dennis asked, trying to keep his temper in check.
"No, it’s actually already healed. Remember, Number Two is also a dhampir and clearly much stronger than that man," Daisy answered casually, touching her bandage.
"Thank God for that... I’m still a little livid seeing what that bastard did to you," Dennis muttered, fighting his emotions even as his hands balled into fists.
Daisy took Dennis’s hand and leaned against his shoulder, kissing his cheek.
"I’m okay... even though I heard the stories from Number Two through Number Six, I didn’t actually feel anything, so I’m fine. Please don’t be angry anymore, okay?" Daisy said, trying to soothe him.
"Alright, if you say so," Dennis replied, relaxing his grip to hold her hand.
Not long after, a detective wearing a long coat over his armor approached them. He was carrying a tablet. Dennis and Daisy stood up to greet Detective Raymond Grant, the man who had interrogated them earlier.
"Alright, based on the statements you provided and the video recording you turned over, you are both free to go. What you did has been ruled as self-defense, even though the convict you captured is in critical condition. We on the force can understand that as hunters and given what you went through, you naturally treated him like a crawler. It’s his own fault for attacking you. Thank you for your cooperation," Raymond said with a smile.
"So, what will happen to that convict next, sir?" Dennis asked.
"We can’t possibly hold him in our city. He’ll be transferred to the hospital in Onyx City, and after that, he’ll be moved again to the hospital and prison in Diamond City, which will arrive in Onyx City after us," Raymond answered.
"Oh, I see. That’s good then. If he stayed here, he might escape again and cause more trouble," Daisy said.
"Exactly. We’ve already anticipated that. We don’t even know how he managed to get out of Aquamarine City in the first place; we’ll let the Diamond City police department interrogate him once he regains consciousness," Raymond replied.
Suddenly the hospital lobby doors swung open, and Dennis and Daisy turned to look back. Kimberly, Jason, Gary, and Olivia—whose clothes were still a mess—stepped inside, accompanied by Detective Mike Garcia, who was handling Sean’s case. When they spotted Dennis and Daisy, they immediately broke into a light run toward them. Olivia and Kimberly instantly jumped to hug Daisy, who wrapped her arms around them in return. Meanwhile, Raymond went back inside with Mike after saying goodbye to everyone. Once Olivia and Kimberly let go of their hug,
"You’re okay... right, Daisy?" Olivia asked.
"Oh no... what happened to your neck?" Kimberly asked.
"I’m fine, my neck is just a bit scraped. How did you guys end up here?" Daisy asked, confused.
"We were at the intersection earlier, and then we saw Detective Mike and the ambulances passing by. We asked him what was going on, and it turns out Detective Mike had just come back from Onyx City to arrange for a prisoner transfer there. He told us everything, and that’s how we finally found out you and Dennis were here," Olivia answered.
"He’s even giving us a lift in the back of his police truck," Kimberly added.
"Oh, I see," Daisy replied, hugging her two friends again. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
"Thank God you’re okay," Kimberly said.
Seeing Daisy cheerful again and no longer affected, talking casually with Olivia and Kimberly, Dennis felt a sense of relief. Then Gary, who was standing beside him, gripped his shoulder.
"You good, man?" Gary asked.
"I’m good. Nothing happened," Dennis answered.
"Good. I was a little worried something happened to you since you disappeared and didn’t come back to the fork in the road where you promised to meet Jason and Kimberly. Plus, there was no signal. But I was also pretty sure—someone who can take down a Claw Centipede wouldn’t be caught that easily," Gary replied with a smile.
"Yeah, dude. Before Gary and Olivia showed up, Kim and I were waiting at the intersection for a long time too, but luckily everything turned out fine," Jason added.
"You guys are exaggerating. But... don’t the three of us smell terrible?" Dennis asked, realizing they all reeked from the crawler blood or saliva staining their clothes.
"Now you’re right on that, man. We better get out of this hospital fast; our smell is getting annoying," Gary answered, patting Dennis on the shoulder while gesturing toward the lobby door with his thumb.
"Ugh... I want a shower, but we still have a few more hours of guard duty at the school, right?" Jason said while sniffing himself, though he quickly pulled his nose away with a weird look on his face.
"Yeah. Let’s go then... but those three seem pretty comfortable, they’re hugging again," Gary said, pointing to the girls in front of him.
Dennis and Jason turned to see Daisy, Olivia, and Kimberly hugging again, then holding onto each other’s arms while chatting cheerfully, completely ignoring the foul stench that hung over them.
"Just let it be, man. No need to overthink it," Dennis replied casually.
"Yeah, if you’re both smelling the same way, a hug doesn’t really matter, does it?" Jason added.
"I guess so... but this hospital is pretty crowded, isn’t it?" Gary replied.
Then Dennis, Gary, and Jason looked around the dimly lit hospital lobby. They saw many nurses, security guards, and medical staff rushing wounded hunters into the emergency room, along with several hospital visitors who looked at them with strange stares but tried to stay friendly; there were even those who openly covered their noses with disgusted faces as they walked past. The three of them immediately turned to look at one another.
"I think we need to get out of here right now," Jason said.
"See, that’s exactly what I was trying to tell you guys," Gary replied.
"I’m used to being looked at by faces like those. For my entire life, I’ve always been looked at that way," Dennis replied casually.
"That’s just you, dude. I’ve never been through that," Jason replied, nudging Dennis with his elbow.
"Forget it, man, let’s move," Gary replied.
Finally, Dennis pulled Daisy, Gary pulled Olivia, and Jason pulled Kimberly. The six of them walked toward the door, trying to ignore the stares of the crowd that followed them all the way out of the lobby. Once outside, Dennis and Daisy told their friends everything that had happened, but they didn’t mention the identity of the criminal—that he was actually Dennis’s biological father. They walked along empty streets where only police cars, hunter trucks, fire engines, and ambulances passed by, heading toward the nearest school to shower before returning to their own.
After hearing Dennis and Daisy’s story, Olivia and Kimberly—who were walking in front of Gary, Jason, and Dennis—immediately hugged Daisy as she walked between them. Naturally, Gary, Dennis, and Jason backed off a little.
"Give me a break, more hugging... at this rate, we’re going to turn into crawlers. Good grief, the smell... I can’t take it," Jason said, trying not to gag.
"When we were fighting, we didn’t really notice it," Dennis remarked.
"We weren’t thinking back then. Once we get to the nearest school, we can take a shower; just relax. We’re almost at Red Wind and Willow, which are close by," Gary said.
"Yeah, exactly. Just hang in there, bro," Dennis replied, patting Jason on the back.
"I just hope they let us use their showers," Jason replied.
When they reached the end of the intersection, they turned right and headed toward their school, chatting casually. But suddenly, "Olivia, Daisy, Kimberly," the voices of several girls called out to the three in front of them. It turned out that Rachel, Brigitte, Harumi, Sofia, Margaret, and Natasha were in the area, and they immediately ran toward the wives the moment they spotted them.
It was painfully obvious that their white clothes were covered in stains and still looked slimy, likely because they had just finished clearing out crawlers near the school’s location. Then the six of them piled into a hug with Olivia, Daisy, and Kimberly. Naturally, their "aroma" drifted everywhere as they jumped around and chatted excitedly.
"Good grief," Dennis, Gary, and Jason muttered, covering their mouths as they tried not to gag.
The three of them tried to hold it together, walking alongside the nine girls who were moving ahead cheerfully, completely oblivious to their surroundings. They just hoped to quickly reach the Willow Private Military Institution, the school where the six girls were stationed or Red Wind Boys Military School, which wasn’t far from their current location.
