Chapter 24: Shadow of Premeditation for Murder ?

The atmosphere became incredibly tense, everyone frozen in place. Dennis continued to stand his ground, as steady as a mountain ready to crush the people in front of him, his eyes locked onto Ivan, Brad, and the others. A fight could break out at any moment, as Ivan and his group were already prepared to deal with Dennis. But before anything could happen, suddenly,

"Aha, found you."

Dennis turned his head and saw Jason opening the classroom door and stepping inside. Jason immediately grabbed Dennis by the shoulder.

"Dude, I’ve been looking for you everywhere," Jason said. Then, Jason turned to look at Ivan, Sasha, Brad, Hyunjin, Minji, and Akira. "Whoops, sorry about that, seniors. This friend of mine smokes way too much weed, so his brain is a little fried. Don’t pay him any mind, just act like nothing happened," Jason said casually with a smile.

"Huh?" Ivan, Sasha, Brad, Hyunjin, Minji, and Akira asked in unison.

"Our bad, seniors... come on dude, let’s go," Jason said, pulling Dennis out to avoid the glares of the seniors before Dennis could react and without waiting for the seniors to respond.

"Bam," the door was slammed shut again, leaving a tense and silent atmosphere inside the classroom. It left Ivan, Sasha, Brad, Hyunjin, Minji, and Akira looking at each other in total confusion.

"Maybe he really is high as a kite and went crazy," Hyunjin said.

"Whatever, just forget it. I’m meeting Mr. Steve at lunch anyway," Akira said.

In the end, they just shook their heads and sat back down in their respective seats. The senior classroom returned to normal, though the energy had shifted slightly; a lingering tension remained, and the room was filled with talk about Dennis.

Meanwhile outside, Dennis walked with Jason, who was letting out sigh after sigh of relief while wiping sweat from his forehead.

"Hey... what the hell, man? Don’t be crazy. You can’t just challenge them all alone, for real," Jason said.

"Sorry, but how did you know I was here?" Dennis asked.

"Daisy told me to follow you. She was already suspicious when you left the classroom. Good thing I listened to her," Jason answered.

"Hmm... I see. Well, sorry again, man," Dennis replied.

"Relax, man. We’ll just wreck them during the sparring match later," Jason replied.

"Alright," Dennis muttered, still lost in thought.

"Now let’s get back to class. While I was coming out, I saw two thugs with buzz cuts and tattoos loitering in front of our room. Looked like they were checking out your wife," Jason said.

"Oh... for real?" Dennis asked.

"Yeah, as soon as Kimberly went inside and I stepped out, they cleared off and acted like they weren’t doing anything," Jason answered.

"I see," Dennis muttered, thinking it over.

They walked downstairs and headed toward their classroom. The bell rang for the next period. Dennis and Jason saw two students who looked like thugs—buzz-cut hair, fierce faces, and sleeves of tattoos—walking toward them, away from their classroom. Daisy and Kimberly were visible behind them. When they passed Dennis, the two thugs glared at him with pure spite. Dennis noticed the two rings they were wearing and stopped dead in his tracks.

"Hey, are you guys Fiona and Viola’s husbands?" Dennis asked.

The two thugs turned and snorted. They kept walking, stuffing their hands into their pockets without answering Dennis’s question, which only made him more curious.

"Yeah, they’re the husbands of the twins who dropped the watermelon on your head. I know them. Back in middle school, they targeted me and demanded I become their boss’s wife—and their boss actually ended up being my first suitor. But I refused, and just now they came up to me, saying I made a huge mistake by marrying you. Still, they looked pretty uneasy," Daisy number two said.

"Oh... really? So their boss was your first suitor?" Dennis asked.

"Exactly. I told you that you were the third choice during the matchmaking event, didn’t I? I know who their boss is. There’s a chance that the accident which triggered your awakening wasn’t a coincidence, my husband," Daisy number two answered.

"Huh... really?" Dennis asked, shocked.

"I’ll look into it. I’ll let you know during lunch, just be patient, my husband," Daisy number two answered.

After that, Daisy number two kissed Dennis on the cheek and walked toward her classroom. Dennis went inside his own class with Jason and Kimberly.

Lunch break at the cafeteria. Daisy number two led Dennis to a seat at the very end, carrying their lunch boxes. Then, Daisy number two reached into her shirt pocket and pulled out a fairly thick envelope. Inside, there were several photos, chat history printouts, and bank statement records. Naturally, Dennis was confused seeing all of this.

"Where did you get all this?" Dennis asked.

"Oh... I had my underlings find out by investigating them," Daisy number two answered casually. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

"Huh... underlings?" Dennis asked, becoming even more confused.

Daisy number two pointed upward. Dennis looked up and was startled to see a bat with a camera on its head and a smartphone strapped to its back, perching upside down on the ceiling. Dennis looked around; it seemed no one noticed the bat except for him and Daisy.

"As for these bank records, I asked number 4 to hack them and provide printouts for the last three months," Daisy number two said.

"Huh... I see," Dennis muttered, speechless and a bit impressed.

Then they began looking through the photos. It turned out the two men from earlier were named Mario and Franky, 10th graders, the same age as their wives—16 years old. Married for only five months and still in the honeymoon phase, it was clear in the photos taken by Daisy number two’s underlings that they were very affectionate with the twins. But as they read the chat history printed on the papers from the last three months, a rather terrifying situation came to light.

The messages showed the interaction between someone named Charlie and the two of them. In the chats, it appeared that Mario and Franky were being blackmailed to carry out a premeditated murder against Dennis, who was deemed unworthy of being with Daisy because Daisy was supposed to be his wife—otherwise, Charlie would kill both of their twin wives.

For their services, Charlie paid a sum of money listed in the bank records of both men. Although the amount was quite significant, it was clear that neither of them had spent any of it.

"Wait, so they really were planning and intending to kill me?" Dennis asked, baffled.

"Exactly. Just think about it—there were no festivals or events at school, yet they brought a watermelon to school first thing in the morning. What was the point if not to kill you? Besides, how could it land perfectly on your head? It’s because Mario and Franky threw it from the school roof to make sure the impact was devastating. Then their two wives came down, pretending to check on you, and they were completely shocked when they realized you were still alive," Daisy number two answered.

"But why a watermelon?" Dennis asked.

"So it would be ruled an accident. If they used a bowling ball, it’s obviously murder... if it were me, I’d definitely use a durian just to be sure," Daisy number two answered with a smile.

"Hmm... you have a point, but durians are hard to find. Watermelons are much easier," Dennis said.

"Exactly why they used a watermelon. But hey, thanks to them, you ended up having an awakening and getting hot... it’s a far cry from what they planned. Surely their boss, that Charlie guy, has noticed the change in you too," Daisy number two replied.

"This person named Charlie... could it really be the Charlie in my class? He’s quiet, wears thick glasses, and seems antisocial, just like me... though I didn’t exactly have a choice in being antisocial," Dennis said.

"Spot on. He was actually the first person matched with me. But when I told him I was a difficult girl, he looked hesitant and confused. Naturally, I wasn’t going to wait around. When I finally married you, that’s when he said he wanted to be with me... too late," Daisy number two said, shrugging her shoulders.

"Makes sense... well, whatever. In the end, I’m fine, right?" Dennis said.

"I can’t let it go. I’m going to investigate Charlie’s background, and then let me handle it, my husband. Anyone who wants to harm my husband has to deal with me," Daisy number two replied, smiling.

"Hey, hey... don’t overdo it," Dennis said.

"Don’t worry, my husband," Daisy number two replied while reaching for Dennis’s hand on the table.

After that, the two began to enjoy the lunch they had brought from home. But while Dennis was concentrated on eating, inside the Council of Daisies:

"Number 3, it’s your turn to go out tomorrow, right? Please execute him immediately without leaving a trace. There’s no need to investigate that man’s background," Daisy number two said.

"Copy that. I’ll head to school early tomorrow morning," Daisy number three replied.

"We’ll call it Operation Watermelon. Don’t mess this up; you know exactly what I mean, right?" Daisy number two said.

"Relax, leave it to me. Consider it done," Daisy number three replied.

After that, Daisy number two turned her attention back to Dennis across from her and started a conversation to fill the silence.
