My Seven Wives in One Body and Me, her Manager-Chapter 55: Moving On and New Friendship
After she finished reading her assessments, Vanessa closed her tablet and stepped forward to shake everyone’s hand with a smile. Then, Steve gave them all permission to head back to the locker rooms to change or just head straight home. Steve and Vanessa turned and left after saying their goodbyes, leaving both teams alone in the middle of the south field. Ivan turned to Gary and smiled.
"Good work, Gary. I’m glad it’s you and your team that will be replacing ours," Ivan said, gripping Gary’s shoulder.
"We still have a lot to learn from you, Ivan," Gary replied, holding Ivan’s shoulder in return.
"Well... it’s finally over. No matter the result, I admit you guys are strong. We should train together sometime, but this time on the same team instead of as enemies," Hyunjin said casually.
"I agree. We look forward to your guidance, seniors," Kimberly replied.
"Ah... forget the ’senior’ stuff. We’re only one class apart, just take it easy," Hyunjin shot back.
"Alright then," Kimberly replied, relaxed.
"You’re actually pretty strong. I’m impressed. Your guts in challenging us alone turned out to be more than just talk," Akira said to Dennis.
"Thanks. I was just trying my best. You guys are all strong. Sorry I underestimated you," Dennis replied.
"Easy, dude. It’s no problem," Akira replied, patting Dennis on the shoulder.
"But don’t just go around killing people when the match is over, alright? Keep that in mind. I’ll forgive you this time," Sasha said, extending her hand to Dennis with a smile.
"Yeah, I promise. Sorry about that," Dennis replied, shaking Sasha’s hand.
"And I’m still curious about you. How about we spar one-on-one sometime?" Sasha asked Daisy.
"Sure, I’d be happy to," Daisy answered with a smile.
"Now that’s more like it. Peace. Everything feels better now, doesn’t it?" Jason chimed in.
"Oh yeah, where were you? Why didn’t I see you? You too," Minji said to Jason and Olivia.
"The two of us stayed at the base. We guarded it and didn’t move out," Olivia replied.
"Oh, so that’s how it was. Makes sense. Let’s train together again sometime. Next time, I want to see those sniper and magic spearmen skills," Minji said casually.
"Okay, I’d be happy to show you," Olivia replied.
"Yep, exactly. I also want a shooting and accuracy contest with Akira, since we’re both snipers," Jason added.
"Ready whenever you are. Let’s train together," Akira replied.
Suddenly, Brad turned around and walked toward the exit. The sound of his footsteps made everyone fall silent as they watched him go without saying a word. Ivan simply shook his head, while Gary, watching him, grew curious and asked.
"What is his problem, anyway?" Gary asked.
"He’s... dealing with a lot of personal stuff. Just let him be; let’s give him some space," Ivan answered, explaining.
Dennis, seeing Brad walking away, immediately ran to catch up with him, leaving Daisy confused until she eventually followed. Dennis tapped Brad on the shoulder, making him stop in his tracks.
"Hey, good match. I admit you’re strong, so let’s not have any hard feelings, alright?" Dennis said, extending his hand.
Brad glanced at Dennis’s hand held out toward him, then he looked at Dennis’s face and immediately turned his back on him.
"Whatever. I don’t want to talk to you," Brad replied curtly, then continued walking away, leaving Dennis behind, though this time his tone wasn’t hostile and seemed almost ordinary.
Dennis just stood there, stunned, watching Brad walk further away from him and Daisy. Then Daisy took Dennis by the arm.
"Are you okay, honey?" Daisy asked.
"I’m fine... don’t worry about it," Dennis answered.
"Hey, just let him be for a while. His wife is acting up again, so please try to understand," Hyunjin said, suddenly putting his arm around Dennis.
"Yeah, I know," Dennis replied while staring at Brad’s retreating back.
Dennis suddenly realized that even though Brad used to bully him and be cruel to him because he was Bella’s chubby, cross-eyed childhood friend, he didn’t feel anything toward Brad now. Beating Brad—which should have felt satisfying and fulfilling as a way to get even—actually only left a hollow feeling in his heart because he had already proven himself. Dennis let out a sigh and turned to Hyunjin, who still had an arm around him.
"Let’s head back over there," Dennis suggested.
"Got it. Don’t let it get to you, okay? He’s not actually like that; he’s just feeling insecure because you’re his wife’s childhood friend. That’s all it is," Hyunjin said.
"Yeah, I get it," Dennis replied.
They walked back to join the others. Daisy, still holding Dennis’s arm, whispered to him.
"It seems like he really loves Bella, doesn’t he?" Daisy asked.
"I don’t know, but I’ll admit, Bella went a bit too far this time. Even though I don’t like Brad and don’t consider him a friend, nobody deserves to be betrayed like that," answered Dennis, who knew exactly what was happening between Brad and Bella thanks to the investigation by Daisy Number Two and the letter Rika had given him.
"You’re right, honey. So, what are you going to do?" Daisy asked.
"Nothing. Their business isn’t my business, and it’s definitely not ours," Dennis answered.
"Good. I like that answer," Daisy replied, looking relieved as she hugged Dennis’s arm even tighter.
After that, they chatted for a while and exchanged phone numbers, forming a new group chat named the school core team, seniors and juniors. Then they all walked out of the gymnasium together as the spectators had already dispersed. As they walked, Dennis kept his eyes on his interface screen; he wanted to test his telepathy skill. He studied how to use it and tried it out immediately.
"Hello," Dennis said in his head.
"Huh... honey?" Primary Daisy asked.
"Huh... my husband? How did you get in here?" number two said.
"Huh... love?" number three said.
"Eeh... sugar, are you talking to us?" number four said.
"Hon? Did you say something?" number five said.
"Wait... how did you get in here, baby?" number six asked.
"Wow... I’m so happy you’re talking to us, dear," number seven added.
Dennis winced in shock and covered his mouth. He glanced at Daisy beside him, who was holding her head and turning to look at him with a face full of questions mixed with confusion.
"You’re talking in my head? In the council room?" Daisy whispered. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
"Yeah... I was trying out a telepathy skill... but... the council room?" Dennis asked, confused.
[Ah, let me explain, Master. All of your wife’s personalities can speak to one another and hold discussions inside her; they have a space they call the council room in their heads. So, if Master uses telepathy, you will be speaking to all of them at once. That is what happened when I informed your wife about your plan earlier, so she could act according to your wishes and leave me exhausted.]
"Oh... so that’s how it is," Dennis said, confused, while staring at Daisy, who was still looking at him with a face full of questions. "So you all can talk in your heads and you have a council room?" Dennis whispered to Daisy.
"Wait... you know about that?" Daisy asked, her face turning pale because her secret had been exposed.
"Um... I just found out. Sami told me," Dennis replied.
"Now, about this Sami—who exactly is she? I think we need a serious, private talk when we get home," Daisy said with a suspicious tone, staring sharply at Dennis. She looked angry and annoyed as she glared at her husband.
"Okay, I’ll explain it at home using telepathy so the others can know, but let’s wait until we’re back home. We’re still with everyone else, after all," Dennis said, resigning himself to the situation.
"Fine. Like I said from the beginning, I don’t want any secrets between us," Daisy said, pouting.
"Hey, you kept that council room a secret from me yourself, didn’t you? You weren’t exactly open with me, were you?" Dennis shot back.
"I did, which is why I’m going to open up too, and I’m asking you to open up about Sami, who claimed to be your girl assistant," Daisy answered, pouting, making it very clear that she was jealous.
"Alright. When we get home, we’ll lay everything out," Dennis replied.
They continued walking, but this time Daisy let go of his arm and walked a bit away from Dennis. Dennis did the same, shoving both hands into his pants pockets because he didn’t want to get near her. They walked like a husband and wife in the middle of a feud; eventually, Dennis walked up front with Gary and Jason, while Daisy walked behind them with Olivia and Kimberly. Dennis glanced back and saw Daisy, who, the moment their eyes met, immediately looked away with a pout as if they were enemies.
"Is she really jealous of Sami? You’ve got to be kidding me. I’ll explain everything to her about who Sami is. If she’s talking in her head with the others about me, what are they saying? I hope they aren’t badmouthing me. I need to find out about that. No wonder I felt it was weird when she said she could discuss things with the others; so that’s how it works. Still, I’m worried she’s keeping other secrets in her head along with those six other personalities," Dennis said in his heart, as it was the first time he had ever felt suspicious of Daisy.
