My Seven Wives in One Body and Me, her Manager-Chapter 56: Sitting and Talking Mentally to Mentally
Late in the afternoon as evening drew near, after returning to the apartment, taking their own showers, and sitting in silence for a while, Dennis and Daisy finally sat across from each other at the dining table. Both were quiet, not speaking and just staring at one another, but in reality, Dennis was talking to his wife using telepathy. He explained everything about who Sami was, even asking Sami to introduce herself officially within the council room inside Daisy’s head.
Dennis explained that Sami was part of his talent manager system once he reached a certain stage in his talent development. This statement was supported directly by Sami. The seven Daisys in the council room immediately went into thought, and then they all let out a sigh at the same time.
"So that’s how it is. Fine, I understand," number two said.
"Okay, no more comments," number three added, acting indifferent but clearly caring.
"In that case, just like how we are all together in this council room, is Sami inside your head, sugar?" number four asked.
"Something like that, but she can communicate with all of you too. She’s my assistant, and yours as well," Dennis answered, explaining.
"Hmm... interesting. It’s actually nice to have an assistant," number five muttered, thinking it over.
"Huh... fine. My jealousy is gone," number six replied curtly while leaning back in her chair and folding her arms across her chest.
"Everything is clear now. I’m just happy it’s all settled, right number one?" number seven asked, turning to look at Primary Daisy.
"Okay, I can accept the explanation. Sami is a part of our husband’s awakening, just as the six of you are a part of mine," Primary Daisy said.
"Well, that’s right. It’s a good thing you understand, because you were the one who was actually bothered," number two said.
"Exactly, exactly," number three added, chiming in.
"Now it’s clear. Sami isn’t human; she’s just an assistant in our husband’s head. Everything is safe," number four added.
"Yes, yes. I’m sorry I made you all so jealous," Primary Daisy replied.
"Be careful next time. The seven of us share the same feelings. If you’re jealous, we all feel it and become jealous too," number five said.
"Huh... I was the one who was jealous first," number six replied irritably.
"Enough already, the problem is over, right? Now we aren’t suspicious anymore. Let’s not talk about it or bring it up again. Sorry about that, Sami," number seven said.
[It’s no problem. I’m glad I could explain. I look forward to our cooperation.]
"Yeah, of course," number seven replied.
"I’m sorry, honey. I ended up being suspicious and angry with you," Primary Daisy said.
"It’s fine, but I’m still mad at you. Now, tell me: what exactly do you all discuss in your council room, and what are you keeping secret from me? You’ve definitely been talking about me, haven’t you?" Dennis asked, snapping back.
The atmosphere in the council room went instantly silent. From Daisy number one—the primary—all the way to number seven, they were suddenly struck dumb. Their faces turned pale, filled with fear and confusion over how to explain everything to Dennis. Meanwhile, Dennis, speaking through telepathy, leaned back in his dining chair with his arms folded. He kept his eyes locked on the confused Daisy in front of him, who was looking down at the table and gripping it as if the table were fascinating and the only thing keeping her from vanishing.
"No secrets between us, right? I’ve already told you everything," Dennis added, doubling down.
Daisy looked up at Dennis, but she quickly lowered her gaze again. Dennis didn’t look angry; he seemed perfectly calm, and that was exactly what made Daisy so nervous. She couldn’t bring herself to meet his eyes. Of course, Dennis wasn’t going to let her off easy, but he didn’t push too hard either. He was giving her the space to come clean on her own, using the bait he had just thrown out—throwing her own words back at her. After a few moments, Daisy opened her mouth.
"Um... you love me, don’t you, honey?" Daisy asked in a low voice.
"Hmm... yes, but honesty and trust are the foundation of love, and right now I want to hear what you’ve been keeping from me so that I can trust you," Dennis answered, making his position crystal clear.
Daisy fell silent again, but suddenly Dennis could hear all the Daisys inside the council room let out a collective sigh.
"Fine, I’ll go first. I work as a private investigator—you already knew that, right, my husband? I also have my own ads on the deep web and the regular web to find clients. But since we’re all going to be hunters now, I’m quitting. I also like to talk about you with the others because I love you," number two said, revealing her secret.
"I’m... a contract killer, a hitman. I work and have my own ads too. I like to talk about you too, love, but I never badmouthed you... even though I was annoyed seeing how you used to be, never making a move. I admit it," number three said, looking down.
"Like the others, I’m a hacker and a thief. I’m the one who posted their ads on the deep web using burner emails and VPNs so we wouldn’t be tracked. Back then... I did like to talk about you and discuss things... but it wasn’t because I hated you. I was just tired of seeing the old you. When you changed, I was happy," number four said, bowing her head.
"Well... you know I’m a researcher, right, hon? I conduct research in here... then I try it out there whenever I get the chance because I keep everything in dimensional storage. That’s what I kept secret from you. As for me discussing you... of course, I’m just like the rest. At first, I hated your attitude... toward all of us. But not anymore. Don’t get it wrong, I love you, and that’s that," number five said, her explanation a bit of a mess.
"I’m an underground fighter hired by businessmen and gangster families. Of course, I’ve stopped too, and I’ve asked number four to pull my ads. If I can be honest... I used to hate you. I really wanted to beat you up so you’d wake up and stop sulking every day, making things hard for me and the others. But... it doesn’t mean I didn’t love you. I just wanted you to stand up... sorry, I’m not good with words," number six said firmly yet shyly.
"Hmm... I don’t need to explain, do I? Because I don’t have any secrets hidden from you, dear," number seven said.
"So, those are our secrets. We really did talk about you in here a lot, but... not to put you down. We just wanted you to notice us. I’m sorry if I and the others disappointed you," said the Daisy on the outside, looking down in front of Dennis with teary eyes until she took off her glasses.
Dennis fell silent, his face appearing calm as he folded his arms across his chest and looked down, but in reality, his heart was pounding so hard it felt like it could shatter his ribs. The confession from his wife and her six other personalities left him with a whirlwind of emotions. On one hand, he was glad to hear everyone’s honesty and could finally understand what they were saying, but on the other hand, he felt like complete trash as memories of how he had treated Daisy over the past year flashed through his mind.
The truth in his thoughts and the truth coming directly from the mouths of the Daisys—even though he already knew—hit him like a freight train, and it definitely hurt. Then, he also felt a chill of fear hearing about the jobs Daisy’s personalities held. The suspicion of who killed Charlie—which had been gnawing at his gut all this time—was finally answered. He had clarity now. Although he still didn’t know exactly how they did it, considering that everyone inside Daisy’s body was basically a cheat character, he wasn’t surprised.
Right now, Dennis was truly reflecting, digesting everything. Then he thought about how he should face the Daisy in front of him. Should he forget it all? Get angry and demand further explanations? Ask exactly who their clients were? Just act as if nothing happened? Or find some other way to respond that hadn’t even crossed his mind yet. He loved Daisy, and that was undeniable, but his wife was clearly a person he was just starting to know—and he was only just finding out what was really going on inside her.
Suddenly, Daisy stood up and moved to sit next to Dennis, who now had his eyes closed. Then Daisy took his hand, causing Dennis to flinch in surprise and turn to look at her.
"Um... I’m sorry, honey. You probably hate me and the others now, don’t you?" Daisy asked.
Dennis studied his wife’s face as she gazed at him without her glasses. He only just realized that Daisy’s face actually looked tired, even though she always maintained her appearance. Then, something stirred in his heart. He realized that everything Daisy had done—everything that made her who she was today—was also a result of his own trashy behavior and his failure to ever step up and help his wife.
In other words, he realized his wife only wanted recognition from him and had to find a way to make money for their needs. He realized that if it weren’t for his physical state, he surely would have tried to provide for their life, even though they received government support—it was just that in this world, he hadn’t been that kind of man at first.
Finally, Dennis smiled. He immediately turned and hugged the Daisy sitting next to him. Instantly, Daisy’s council room became rowdy as everyone started talking to Dennis at once, ranging from apologies to promises to change and never work like that again, plus a vow to never use their abilities recklessly anymore. After letting go of the hug, Dennis held both of Daisy’s shoulders and looked at her.
"I don’t hate you. I love you, and that hasn’t changed. If anything, I want to apologize because I let you and the others down. From now on, I won’t go back to the way I was, and I also ask that all of you stop doing what you’ve been doing," Dennis said using telepathy. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
"Yes, we promise," said numbers two through seven.
"Thank you... honey... hic... hic," Primary Daisy sobbed.
They hugged again and shared a kiss after that, then they began planning their future like any normal husband and wife while ordering food for their dinner. After the food was ordered,
"Um... honey, I want to have a child someday," Daisy said.
"Oh... yeah, okay," Dennis replied nervously. "Man... we could have discussed that later, right? The knot in my gut just finally loosened and I’m relieved... give me a break," Dennis muttered in his heart.
