My Sexy CEO Wife-Chapter 264 - 263: Little Witch
"I snuck out, so I can't stay here for too long. If the manager catches me, I'm in big trouble."
After chatting for a short while, Zhu Xiaoliang turned and left.
"You can do it! Believe in yourself!!!" Gao Fei shouted loudly.
Zhu Xiaoliang waved his hand without turning his head and walked away.
"I believe you will make something of yourself," Gao Fei murmured as he watched Zhu Xiaoliang's retreating figure.
...
The wind was soft and the clouds were light.
Time flew by.
Before he knew it, three days had passed.
These three days for Gao Fei were dull, lonely, and utterly depressing.
The greatest joy of each day was basking in the sun, leaning against the wall, tilting his head back, and soaking up the warm and cozy sunlight.
"Swish..."
A white horse galloped from a distance. One moment it was hundreds of meters away, and the next it was at the Artifact Refining Pavilion's entrance. A young woman who looked about twenty years old was sitting on the horse's back. She wore two braids, had a melon-seed face with big eyes, and smooth, tender skin. She was dressed in a fiery red skirt, with matching red shoes and socks.
One could guess her underwear was red too...
"Thud!"
The woman jumped down from the horse, ready to enter the Artifact Refining Pavilion.
"Wait."
Gao Fei stretched out his hand to stop her: "You look unfamiliar. You're not a disciple of the Artifact Refining Pavilion, are you?"
"The new guy?" she asked coldly.
"Ah, I've only been here a few days."
"I knew you were new here!" she snorted. "If you were an old disciple, you would definitely recognize me."
"Oh? You're that famous?" Gao Fei laughed.
"My dad is the Pavilion Master of the Artifact Refining Pavilion. How about that for fame?" the woman said.
"Err... you're the Pavilion Master's daughter?" Gao Fei was startled.
"So I can go in now?"
"Not yet! I need to verify your identity, just in case you're lying," Gao Fei replied.
"Verifying my identity? Are you looking for trouble on purpose?"
"Please show your token... I'm just doing my job. Please bear with me." As he spoke, Gao Fei added, "I am just a disciple in charge of the gate, without any power or influence. I am strictly following the rules of the Artifact Refining Pavilion, so I hope you won't make this difficult for me."
The woman stared at Gao Fei for a long time before nodding her head: "In the Tianyang Sect, you're the first person to ever check my token." She added, "And probably the last! You want to check my token? Fine, here it is!" The woman pulled out her token from her bosom and threw it to Gao Fei: "Look carefully with your eyes wide open!"
It was a copper grade waist token with "Jia Xue" engraved on the front and "Tianyang Sect" on the back.
"Your name is Jia Xue, huh? That's a pretty nice name," Gao Fei commented, returning the token to Jia Xue. "Are you really the Pavilion Master's daughter?"
"If you don't believe me, you can ask around," Jia Xue said expressionlessly. "Any of the old disciples would recognize me."
"Alright, I believe you," Gao Fei nodded. "You can go in now."
"What's your name?"
"Me? My name is Gao Fei! Gao as in 'expert', and Fei as in 'to fly'!"
"Gao Fei..." Jia Xue repeated to herself: "I'll remember you!" As she spoke, she stepped into the Artifact Refining Pavilion.
"The Pavilion Master's daughter? That's quite the background!" Gao Fei smirked to himself: "Dressed in all red and riding a white horse, she lacks any sense of style."
"Pfft..." 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
The white horse snorted and then flicked its head toward Gao Fei.
"Go stand over there." Gao Fei waved his hand at the white horse: "Don't disturb my sunbathing... off you go! Or I'll take action!" Gao Fei waved his fist in the air.
The white horse gave Gao Fei a glance and then walked away.
A dark cloud drifted over, covering the sun and suddenly dimming the sky.
"Damn!"
Gao Fei cursed: "What the heck! I was enjoying the sun! Stupid cloud, move away at once! Let my sun out!" It seemed the cloud was determined to spite Gao Fei. No matter how much he cursed, the cloud wouldn't budge.
"What's with the recent luck? First, I lose my Cultivation! Then I'm cleaning, and now gatekeeping... and even the clouds are bullying me... must be haunted by some misfortune!"
After swearing a bit more, Gao Fei couldn't bother cursing any longer and let it be.
Strangely enough, while Gao Fei cursed up a storm, the cloud stubbornly covered the sun. When Gao Fei stopped, the cloud leisurely drifted away, revealing the sun once again.
"Damn it!" Gao Fei shook his fist at the departing cloud: "You like bullying others, huh? Just wait till I ascend and become an immortal; I'll slap you out of existence!"
"You, dreaming of Becoming an Immortal?" A woman's mocking voice came from behind.
Gao Fei turned to look and saw Jia Xue walking out with a box, her face written with sarcasm and mockery. Gao Fei smacked his lips: "What's that supposed to mean? Looking down on me?"
"Yes, you're exactly right," Jia Xue nodded. "I am looking down on you. A mere gatekeeper dreaming of Ascension? That's hilariously delusional." Her words were hurtful.
Gao Fei's mouth twitched: "Why do I find you so disagreeable?"
"I don't like talking to you either," Jia Xue snorted. "One last piece of advice, quit daydreaming and just be a good gatekeeper."
"You..." Gao Fei was about to retort when he heard a scream from Jia Xue.
"Where's my horse!"
"..."
"Hey, where's my horse!"
"..."
"I'm talking to you, did you not hear me!"
"Didn't hear."
"You..." Jia Xue's face turned green with rage, "You're doing this on purpose to anger me, aren't you! Believe it or not, I will go find my dad right now and have him teach you a lesson!"
"Believe." Gao Fei nodded, "In this world, there's nothing you can't do, only what you can't think of."
"Good that you understand." Jia Xue huffed, "I'll ask you one more time, where is my horse!"
"It left."
"Where did it go?"
"Don't know, go find it yourself, it should be nearby."
"Wait till I come back, and we'll settle this!" Dropping those words, Jia Xue left in a huff.
...
"Another pampered little princess." Gao Fei revealed a trace of disdain in his eyes.
A moment later, Jia Xue came back riding a white horse, "You little stinker! Do you know what my nickname is?" Without waiting for Gao Fei to answer, Jia Xue continued, "Little Witch! This nickname was given by others, because I do things quite crazily, and no matter who it is, as long as they provoke me, they won't end up well...
and you're no exception!" After saying these words, Jia Xue rode away on her white horse.
Gao Fei didn't take Jia Xue seriously at all, a spoiled princess, what could she possibly do other than throw temper tantrums?
A day went by, and Gao Fei regretted provoking Jia Xue.
Turned out, Jia Xue really was a little witch indeed, with endless tricks up her sleeve, leaving Gao Fei in a terribly embarrassing situation.
"Bang!"
A large water bag fell from the sky, and had Gao Fei not dodged quickly, it would have hit him on the head.
"Swoosh..."
The water bag hit the ground and burst, spilling water all over the place.
"That's enough for today, I'll play with you again tomorrow." Jia Xue clapped her hands and walked away, swaying her hips, and faintly, Gao Fei could still hear her humming a tune.
"Little Witch! Indeed a little witch!" Gao Fei cursed through gritted teeth, "Do you really think I'm made of clay? That I'm so easy to bully?"
...
In the following days, Gao Fei and Jia Xue engaged in a battle of wits, plotting against each other. Sometimes one won, sometimes the other, neither gaining the upper hand.
Jia Xue had myriad cunning tricks for scheming against people, and Gao Fei also had plenty of his own.
You throw a water bag at me, I'll smash a fireball at you, you put nails on the bed, I'll pluck hairs from your white horse...
"Gao Fei, if you dare to sneak attack my white horse again, I'll go all out against you!" Jia Xue screamed at the top of her lungs, her voice rolling so loudly that it buzzed in Gao Fei's eardrums.
Gao Fei turned his head away, pretending not to hear.
"This is killing me, seriously killing me! Gao Fei, I'm far from done with you!" After venting, Jia Xue led the white horse away to "heal," and over several days, the horse's tail was nearly stripped bare of hair, hanging from its hindquarters in an unsightly manner.
The white horse felt wronged, "You two are fighting, why sneak attack me? I'm innocent!
"Little guy, trying to fight me? You're still too green!" Gao Fei laughed triumphantly, "You care about the white horse, don't you? I'll pull its hairs out, make you so upset you won't be able to sleep! We'll see who's tougher!"
Over several days, Gao Fei came to have a preliminary understanding of Jia Xue. On the surface, she was fierce, trouble-seeking, prone to cursing, and scheming, but in reality, her heart was very pure and kind. To sum it up in a phrase: essentially good, just with some minor flaws!
Playing and fighting with Jia Xue every day was quite interesting. It was a way to pass the time, and since he couldn't practice cultivation during the daytime, he might as well play with Jia Xue.
...
By the creek.
Jia Xue was bathing the white horse with a brush, cursing nonstop, "Damned Gao Fei! Despicable Gao Fei! Shameless Gao Fei! You're just a lowlife! I'll never let you off the hook!"
"Jia Xue." A shout came from behind her.
Jia Xue turned her head and her brows immediately furrowed, "Jin Dalong, what are you doing here?"
"I came to find you." Jin Dalong scampered over, "Jia Xue, are you free tonight? Let me take you out for dinner."
"I'm not free." Jia Xue rejected him coldly.
"How about tomorrow?"
"Tomorrow I'm also not free."
"What about the day after tomorrow?"
"Are you annoying or what?" Jia Xue lost her temper, "I don't want to have dinner with you! Get lost, don't stand in my way!" Throughout the years, Jin Dalong had been pursuing Jia Xue, confessing countless times, only to be rejected by her time after time. Jin Dalong, this fellow, had really thick skin.
Despite the rejections, he still shamelessly pursued her and wouldn't give up, causing Jia Xue a lot of irritation.
"Wow, why does the white horse's tail look bald?" Jin Dalong exclaimed.
"I plucked it, any problem?"
"Uh... you plucked it? Why would you pluck hair..."
"Because I feel like it, can you control it?"
"... Jia Xue, why can't you ever show me a kind face." Jin Dalong said sadly, "You know, I love you, love you deeply, love you so much I can't sleep at night, my love for you..."
"Stop!" Jia Xue hastily waved her hand, "Enough, that's disgusting."
