My Silly, Sweet Wife-Chapter 1154: Yan Liang: I’ll Remember You
Yan Liang was holding a strange sword in his hand.
The sword was three feet long, but its tip bent slightly like a hook.
As he rushed out, the sword emitted a buzzing sound, causing the giant bear opposite him to hesitate momentarily.
Then, Yan Liang slashed at the giant bear with his sword, hooking it back, then flinging it behind him.
The giant bear’s defense was extremely strong, and yet, under these circumstances, it was only scratched on the surface.
The massive body, weighing over a thousand pounds, was flung through the air toward Ye Guichen and the others.
Everyone was stunned; they hadn’t expected the giant bear to come directly at them.
"Quick, help Brother Yan Liang!"
At this moment, most people still felt that Yan Liang was on their side.
However, Guichen noticed a certain oddity when Yan Liang struck the giant bear earlier.
The hooked sword looked incredibly sharp, and if driven by True Qi, even a monstrous beast would suffer more than just a surface scratch in a Qi Refiner’s hands.
Additionally, with Guichen’s keen senses, he could clearly feel the rotation hidden within that sword.
It could dull the blade.
In other words, Yan Liang hadn’t actually used a sharp blade to cut the bear; he used a dull sword instead.
Not only that, after the slash, he threw the bear toward Ye Guichen and the others.
The intention was obvious.
In this giant iron cage, everyone was a competitor to each other.
Allies?
They simply didn’t exist.
Yet, most people were still willing to believe in Yan Liang.
Because in their eyes, Yan Liang indeed appeared brave enough, daring to face the beast alone to draw its attention.
In the blink of an eye, several people had already surrounded the giant bear, attempting to kill it together.
The giant bear, however, seemed to be enraged by Yan Liang, roaring and swinging its paws like unstoppable weapons, knocking several people away in succession.
Chu Liuxiang, cowardly and fearful, shrank back in fright.
But just as Chu Liuxiang focused all his attention on the bear, he suddenly heard a frog’s croak from behind.
Turning his head, Chu Liuxiang’s face turned pale.
The giant frog had somehow crouched three meters behind him, staring at him intently.
If its tongue stretched out, he would surely die.
Cold sweat rolled down Chu Liuxiang’s forehead, but he didn’t dare to move.
The frog seemed to be toying with Chu Liuxiang, playfully licking its lips before suddenly extending its tongue.
In an instant, Chu Liuxiang felt his death was imminent.
Chu Liuxiang had witnessed firsthand how terrifying the frog’s tongue was.
It could easily strangle even a Qi Refiner, and its tongue seemed to be poisonous, paralyzing the body upon contact.
"Oh my god, I’m done!" Chu Liuxiang shouted in fright, shutting his eyes.
In that critical moment, Chu Liuxiang felt a gust of wind blow past him.
Then, he didn’t feel anything sticky touch him.
Not dead?
Hesitant, Chu Liuxiang slowly opened his eyes and saw someone standing in front of him.
That person was none other than Ye Guichen.
Ye Guichen stood with his back to Chu Liuxiang, holding a Heavy Sword in his hand.
At this moment, Chu Liuxiang felt Ye Guichen’s figure magnify infinitely in his heart.
"It was you who saved me?" Chu Liuxiang had already seen the corpse of the giant frog lying not far away.
The giant frog had been sliced in half, dead beyond doubt, with a pool of green blood on the ground.
Previously, Chu Liuxiang couldn’t discern Ye Guichen’s cultivation level and thought he was a novice, knowing nothing.
Even after Ye Guichen killed the saber-toothed tiger, Chu Liuxiang felt it was mere luck.
After all, in everyone’s eyes, the saber-toothed tiger was killed before it could unleash its fury, assumed to be the weakest presence.
But who would have thought, in the end, it was Ye Guichen who saved him.
Ye Guichen ignored Chu Liuxiang and instead focused his attention elsewhere.
Of the original people in the iron cage, more than half were dead, and most of the rest were injured, with only Yan Liang standing there unscathed.
A moment later, the giant bear was also covered with wounds.
However, the cost was evident.
Upon seeing Ye Guichen slay the giant frog, Yan Liang’s eyes flickered and quickly dashed to the bear’s side, cutting off its head with the hooked sword.
He then said, with a tired look, "Finally killed these beasts. Everyone, you worked hard!"
No one responded.
The scene was tragic.
Everyone had their own thoughts.
Some guessed that something was amiss.
However, Yan Liang was a Qi Refiner, and no one dared to question him.
Ye Guichen, however, snorted coldly, "Brother Yan Liang, you have quite the tactics."
Yan Liang raised his eyebrows at the remark, "Brother, what do you mean?"
"It’s nothing, hehe, after all, there’s no such thing as friends here," Ye Guichen didn’t spell it out, but no one present was a fool and quickly caught his meaning.
Upon reflection, many people’s glances at Yan Liang changed.
Earlier, it seemed as if Yan Liang intentionally led the bear towards them.
And when dealing with the giant frog, Yan Liang had seemingly dodged its attack deliberately, jumping to the farthest point, and only then did the frog focus on Chu Liuxiang.
However, those details didn’t matter now.
Looking at the four beast corpses on the ground and the young people initially eager to compete, everyone’s minds were in turmoil.
"Brother, if you have something to say, say it clearly. What’s with the cryptic tone?" Yan Liang couldn’t help but sneer, "Hehe, since we’re all here to compete, why hide anything?"
Chu Liuxiang, full of goodwill towards Ye Guichen now, understood the implication in his words.
But knowing Yan Liang wasn’t easy to provoke, he quickly grabbed Ye Guichen, "Brother Yan Liang, just joking, hehe, just joking! We’re all here to compete, even if we don’t succeed, we’re still friends. Who knows who might help whom outside, right?"
Yan Liang scoffed.
He had long disliked Ye Guichen.
If Ye Guichen hadn’t intervened, the other competitors would likely have been dead by now.
Then dealing with the beasts would be a piece of cake for Yan Liang after they were weakened.
In the first round, he could have eliminated all competitors, and later it would be a solo show. Even if unable to clear all three trials, he’d at least catch Dongfang Yue’s eye, earning respect in the Dongfang Family’s view.
But all this was disrupted by Ye Guichen.
"Hehe, Chu Liuxiang, you’re overly self-conscious. I heard your Chu Family is related to the Hidden Clan’s King Chu? But what of it? Even if the Chu Family has ties with King Chu, it’s still far-fetched. Once we leave here, who will know who?"
Yan Liang was blunt, showing disdain for Chu Liuxiang, glaring fiercely at Ye Guichen, "Kid, I’ll remember you. I hope you can continue competing."
With that, he turned and walked back the way he came.
