"Not so fast." Annie stood in front of Jaster.

"I’m not letting you hurt him!" She took a boxing pose, her arm ready to strike, and her chest glowed cyan.

"Tsk." The man grabbed Amanda’s shoulder.

"Take care of the brat. I need to question this guy real quick."

"WHAT! Nowhere in my contract does it say I’ll need to fight!" When Amanda refused, Hanjon gave her a death stare.

His grip around her shoulder increased, making Amanda groan.

"Annie has a turtle spirit animal, and the last time I checked, turtles usually have the Stone Affinity. So your cassowary can counter her."

Amanda was going to complain again, but Hanjon’s stare made her stop.

Earthbreaker Fist — Lv. 1

"You think I’m slow?" Annie leaped in, her arm ready to throw a punch at both of them.

Amanda quickly reacted.

[ Skills activated ]

Swift Feet — Lv. 2

She quickly got away from the strike using her skill, while Hanjon stood there. When Annie was about to throw a punch, he used his tentacle to block it.

"What?!" Annie’s hand was now stuck on Hanjon’s tentacle.

"Get out of here!" The tentacle threw Annie toward Amanda, and Amanda used her ability again to get away from her.

THUD

Annie’s back hit the door hard, making the glass shatter.

Hanjon looked back at Jaster again. "Now... let’s continue where we left off."

Jaster slowly took a step back, his breath hitching.

How do I use Quick Escape?!

In the game, all you needed to do was press the skill button. But this was real life were talking about.

"I guess I’m in a very sticky situation... hehe...."

Jaster backed away until he reached a door. Then, in slow motion, he quietly pulled on it.

"I see you!" Hanjon’s tentacle struck in front

of Jaster.

"Oh shit!"

[ Skills activated ]

Quick Escape — Lv. 1

Without Jaster realizing it, his body felt like it was moving on its own, and he swiftly dodged the tentacle that pierced through the door.

Hanjon was shocked. Heck, even Jaster himself was shocked.

He grabbed his chest, breathing heavily.

"How... how did I do that?"

Jaster looked down at his chest and saw it glowing purple.

"Woah... it feels warm." He touched the glow as it passed through his hands.

"Purpleberry, did you do this?" He looked at the small gecko hiding in his pocket.

"Krrk!" Purple gave a happy nod.

[ Bond Level Increased ]

Niceeee!

"How dare you talk while facing me!" 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

Hanjon’s tentacle tried to strike Jaster again, but he used his ability and swiftly dodged it.

"YOU!"

Hanjon kept striking the ground with his tentacle, but every time, Jaster dodged it.

"This is so cool! I really am using Soulbound skills in real life!" Jaster didn’t realize that another tentacle was going to strike him until

CRASH

The tentacle threw him off the train, shattering the window.

Jaster coughed blood as his ribs broke.

FUCK, THAT HURTS!

He was now midair as Hanjon grabbed him and held him up.

His tentacle shifted toward the roof of the train, and Jaster crashed onto it head-on.

He held his bleeding chest until realization hit him.

"PURPLE? WHERE ARE YOU!" He quickly searched for Purple in his pocket, but couldn’t find him there.

He looked around in a panic.

THUD

Hanjon used his tentacle to get onto the roof. His big boots created a dent in the train.

Jaster tried to crawl away, but Hanjon grabbed him with his tentacle.

He used his tentacle to strangle Jaster, his feet wiggling in the air as he desperately tried to breathe.

"Ukh!!"

"Now that we’re alone..." Hanjon pulled Jaster closer.

"I’ll ask you again... How do you know the boss?"

Hanjon’s tentacle reshaped into a scythe and put it right in front of Jaster’s throat.

Jaster swallowed hard. He saw Hanjon’s face was dead serious. But Jaster just gave him a smirk.

"Like hell I’ll tell you... ACHOO!"

Jaster purposely spat at Hanjon, the saliva dripping from his cheek.

This pulled Hanjon’s last string. He got ready to pierce Jaster’s neck with his scythe.

"You messed with the wrong gang, kid." And in that swift moment, he struck—

---

(Annie POV.)

Annie got up from the ground. Shattered glass pierced through her skin as she bled profusely.

"God damn... a very peaceful life, huh?"

She looked around, trying to see if Jaster was nearby. But Annie didn’t see him anywhere among the unconscious passengers.

"Oh shoot! JASTER!! WHERE ARE YOU!"

She shouted, but it was useless. She got no response.

Annie’s eyes glanced at Amanda’s back.

A surge of hatred burned through all of Annie’s sense of morals. She grabbed a couple of pieces of fallen glass..

"Oh, you’re awake... Jaster is currently being taken care of... by Hanjon." Amanda played with her hair, seemingly unfazed by the chaos that had erupted.

Her eyes glanced toward Annie. She gave a slight smirk.

"What a mess this train is, huh? Did you know..." Amanda slowly walked toward Annie, gripping the glass shard hard as her hands bled.

"The reason why we’re brave enough to act in a public space... is because... this whole train staff have all been bribed by the Nightroot Clan."

This sent a shiver down Annie’s spine.

"What? How is that even possible?"

"That’s just show how much they hate your family, ’Jefferson.’ I hate seeing you act so tough and care about justice and all that, when really, you’re just a useless piece of garbage."

"SHUT UP!"

Annie threw the glass shard at Amanda, many pieces flying toward her.

Amanda quickly reacted.

[ Skills Activated ]

Swift Feet — Lv. 2

She got away, but a few small shards hit her cheek and made her bleed.

"UGH, YOU SLUT!" Amanda used her ability to run toward Annie, but she was prepared.

Annie used her hands to block Amanda.

She managed to stop her charge and dropped Amanda to the ground.

Annie raised her hands, ready to strike her.

[ Skills Activated ]

Earthbreaker Fist — Lv. 1

Amanda’s eyes widened, and she dodged the crushing hands.

CRASH.

Annie’s fist burrowed into the train floor.

Amanda got up and used Swift Feet to run to the opposite side of Annie.

Her breath hitched, and she was sweating.

How the heck is she able to throw a punch that fast? Hanjon said she has a turtle spirit animal, so she should have the Stone Affinity!

While Amanda was deep in thought, Annie took the chance. She quickly ran toward Amanda with her fist ready to strike again.

[ Skills Activated ]

Swift Feet — Lv. 2

Amanda quickly moved behind Annie. She grabbed a bag from the ground and slammed it hard onto Annie’s head.

"ACK!"

Annie fell to the ground, rubbing her head.

Amanda then grabbed a glass shard the size of her palm and used Swift Feet to rush toward Annie.

Annie couldn’t react fast enough and raised her hands to block Amanda’s attack.

The glass shard pierced through Annie’s hands. Her eyes filled with terror as blood dripped from her palm onto her face.

"AAAAAAAA!"

Annie let out a blood-curdling scream as Amanda kept pushing the shard into her.

"HAHAHAHAHA!"

Amanda laughed so hard that her saliva dropped onto Annie’s face, mixing with the blood.

She enjoyed seeing a fellow Jefferson scream in agony.

Annie tried to move, but Amanda pressed down on her, preventing her from budging.

She tried to raise her legs and saw that she could.

Annie smiled. She looked at Amanda and gave her a dirty look.

"So long, BITCH!"

"What?"

[ Skills Activated ]

Seismic Stomp — Lv. 1

Annie’s legs glowed cyan, and she used her feet to push Amanda away. The force sent Amanda flying into the air before she slammed into the wall.

THUD

The sound echoed throughout the train.

Annie couldn’t rest, though. She pulled the bloody glass shards from her palms and dropped them onto the floor.

She saw Amanda sitting on the ground, unconscious.

This is my chance!

She ran toward Amanda again.

After getting close enough, she began to strike again. Until—

Amanda got up and slashed her chest.

Blood sprayed onto the seats as Annie’s glowing hands began to fade. She saw blood dripping from her stomach.

"What...?"

Annie couldn’t even speak. She fell to the ground, holding her stomach.

A copious amount of blood poured out and dripped onto the floor.

"You really think you can win against me?" Amanda walked toward the crawling Annie.

She pulled Annie’s hair and forced her face up.

Annie’s face was full of hatred and pain, while Amanda smiled cheek to cheek. Her smile turned into laughter as she slapped Annie.

"THIS IS WHAT YOU DESERVE, JEFFERSON!!!" She continued slapping Annie again and again,

showing her that she had lost and that there was nothing Annie could do about it.
