My SSS-Rank Grim Reaper System-Chapter 50: Road to Coral Port
Alex stood at the edge of the valley, looking back one last time.
A week. Only a week had passed, but it felt like more. Like he’d left something behind in those glowing waters—maybe the exhaustion, maybe the fear, maybe just the version of himself that had been broken.
He felt good. Complete. Ready.
"Ready to go?" Emily asked, adjusting her backpack.
"Yeah," Alex said. "It’s time."
Raven was already further up the path, practically bouncing with energy. The week of training had done wonders for her control—she could now summon and dismiss skeletons with a thought, without the disasters from before.
Grim (80cm form) was perched on Alex’s shoulder, his tiny skull turning to take one last look at the valley.
"Pretty. Place. But. Adventure. Awaits."
"Exactly," Alex agreed.
They started walking, but hadn’t gone ten steps when a voice called out.
"Bearer!"
They turned.
Guardian Yara stood at the entrance of her cabin, green robe billowing in the breeze.
She walked toward them, movements surprisingly agile for someone who looked seventy years old.
When she reached Alex, she studied him with those sharp, intelligent eyes.
"Before you go," she said quietly, "I must tell you something."
"What is it?"
"The springs... they are more than just healing. They also show. Visions. Possible futures." She touched her forehead lightly. "And they showed me one of yours."
Alex felt a chill run down his spine. "What did you see?"
Yara hesitated.
"Three paths," she finally said. "Before you. Three choices that will define everything."
"What choices?"
"I cannot see the details. Only... outlines." Her eyes grew distant, as if looking at something far away. "One path leads to absolute power. Another to absolute sacrifice. The third..."
She stopped.
"The third?" Alex pressed.
"The third is... uncertain. Clouded. As if the future itself cannot decide."
She focused back on him.
"When the moment comes—and it will come—choose wisely, Bearer. Not all power is worth its cost. And not all sacrifice is noble."
Alex didn’t know what to say to that.
"I’ll... remember."
Yara nodded, then smiled—her expression returning to warm and grandmotherly.
"Now go. Your path awaits. And," she looked at the whole team, "take care of this young one. The world needs him more than he knows."
"We will," Emily promised.
With that, Yara turned and walked back to her cabin.
The team stood there for a moment, processing.
"Well," Raven finally said, "that was appropriately cryptic and disturbing."
"Yep," Alex agreed.
"Do you think it’s true?" Emily asked. "About three paths?"
Alex shrugged. "I don’t know. But worrying about it now doesn’t help. We’ll just... remember it. When the moment comes."
They started walking again.
The valley shrank behind them, replaced by dense forest.
Ahead—two weeks of travel.
And Coral Port.

[JOURNEY - WEEK 1, DAY 2]
[Encounter 1: Farming Village]
They were half a day’s journey when they heard screams.
Alex raised his hand, stopping the group.
"You hear that?"
Everyone listened.
Distant but unmistakable—screams. Metal clashing. Roars that were definitely not human.
"Village," Emily said, pointing at smoke rising above the trees. "That way. Two kilometers maybe."
"Under attack?" Raven asked.
More screams.
"Sounds like it," Alex said.
They exchanged glances.
"Not our problem," Raven pointed out. But her tone suggested she didn’t really believe that.
"No," Alex agreed. "But we’re adventurers. Helping is... kind of what we do."
Emily was already running toward the screams.
"Let’s go!"
They ran through the forest, emerging into a clearing where a small village—twelve houses, farm fields—was under siege.
Goblins.
Forty of them, levels 25-30, attacking from all sides.
Small, green, with crude weapons but effective in numbers.
Villagers fought valiantly but were being overwhelmed. Three already down, others injured.
"Plan?" Raven asked.
"Even the numbers," Alex decided. "Raven, summon skeletons. Thirty."
"Done." Raven extended her marked hand.
[Summon Undead - Mass]
[MP: 650 → 350/650]
Thirty skeletons emerged from the ground around the village—small, basic level 25, but obedient.
"Protect the villagers!" Raven ordered.
The skeletons charged, immediately engaging the goblins.
"Emily, buffs," Alex continued.
Emily nodded, raising her staff.
[Blessing of Protection - Area]
[MP: 850 → 700/850]
Golden light pulsed outward, washing over the villagers (and Raven’s skeletons).
[+20% Defense, +10% HP for 10 minutes]
"Grim, with me. We lead the charge." Alex drew his sword. "Raven, DPS from range."
"Got it!"
Grim grew to 1.5-meter form, scythe materializing.
"Let’s. Go!"
They charged.
The battle was chaotic but brief.
With numbers evened and Emily’s buffs, the tide turned quickly.
Grim cut through five goblins in as many seconds—each strike precise, lethal.
[5 Goblins: Eliminated]
[Souls Collected: +2.5] → 575.1/1,000
Alex coordinated with Raven’s skeletons, using basic formations he’d learned in his Academy days.
"Phalanx! Hold the line!"
The skeletons obeyed surprisingly well.
Raven, from the rear, used her Fragment 3 scythe for long-range slashes—waves of necrotic energy cutting through multiple goblins at once.
Emily kept villagers alive, quick heals flying to anyone who fell.
Ten minutes.
That’s all it took.
The goblins, realizing they were losing, fled into the forest.
Raven’s skeletons pursued briefly, then stopped at her command.
[Victory]
Silence fell over the village.
Then—applause.
The villagers were clapping, cheering, laughing with relief.
An older man—apparently the village elder—approached, tears in his eyes.
"Thank you," he said, voice breaking. "Thank you. They would have killed us if you hadn’t come."
"We just did what was right," Alex said.
"Still." The village elder took Alex’s hand, shaking it vigorously. "Please, stay. Dine with us. It’s the least we can do."
Alex looked at his team.
Everyone nodded.
"We’d love to."
---
That night, the team dined as honored guests.
The villagers prepared a feast—simple but abundant. Fresh bread, stew, fruits, even some local ale.
"To our saviors!" the village elder toasted.
"Cheers!"
During dinner, villagers approached one by one to thank them personally.
Woman with baby: "You saved my son. Thank you."
Old farmer: "I thought I was dead for sure. You’re a hero."
And then—a small child, maybe six years old—approached Grim shyly.
Grim (80cm form now, resting by Alex’s chair) looked at him.
"Hello. Small. Human."
The child didn’t back away. Instead, his eyes widened with wonder.
"The skeleton lord is AWESOME!" he squealed.
Before Grim could react, the child hugged him.
Other children, seeing it was safe, ran over too.
Suddenly, Grim was being hugged by five kids.
"Help..." Grim’s red lights flickered with panic. "Master... Too much... affection..."
Raven was dying laughing, almost falling off her chair.
Alex laughed too, but rescued Grim.
"Okay, kids, give the skeleton lord some space."
The kids backed off, but still looked at Grim with adoration.
As the night continued, the village elder approached Alex again.
"For your help," he said, pressing a pouch into Alex’s hand, "500 crowns. And information."
"Information?"
"Road ahead—there’s a crossroads in three days. Take the left path. The right has bandits. Dangerous."
"Thanks," Alex said, accepting both coins and advice.
They stayed the night, sleeping in a barn (much more comfortable than expected).
And when they left the next morning, the entire village came out to see them off.
"Come back anytime!" the village elder shouted.
"We will!" Emily promised.
---
[JOURNEY - WEEK 1, DAY 5]
Despite the village elder’s advice, they took the right path at the crossroads.
Not because they ignored the warning—but because Alex reasoned that bandits meant opportunity.
"We might need information," he explained. "And bandits always know what’s happening."
So when a group of bandits jumped out of the bushes—
"HALT! Hand over your—"
—the team was ready.
There were eight of them, levels 34-38. The leader was a large man with a scar across his face.
[Bandit Leader - Level 38]
He stopped mid-sentence, eyes widening as he looked at Alex.
"Wait. Wait wait wait." He leaned closer. "Are you... are you Alex Carter? The Novice Tournament Champion?"
Alex blinked. "Uh. Yeah?"
The bandit leader turned to his men.
"GUYS! IT’S HIM! It’s Alex Carter!"
The bandits lowered their weapons immediately.
"No way!"
"I thought he was dead!"
"My sister is a HUGE fan of yours!"
The bandit leader approached, practically bouncing with excitement.
"Dude, that final match against Marcus Steele—epic. EPIC. The way you took down Aurum..." He made an explosion gesture. "Legendary!"
Alex didn’t know how to respond.
Raven was trying—and failing—not to laugh.
"Are they," she managed between giggles, "ROBBING you or asking for AUTOGRAPHS?"
The bandit leader seemed to remember they were supposed to be robbing them.
"Oh. Right. Uh." He scratched his head. "Look, normally we’d rob you. But we can’t rob a celebrity. That would be... inappropriate."
He pulled out a crumpled piece of paper—a tournament poster.
"Could you... maybe... sign this? For my sister. Her name’s Linda."
Alex looked at his team.
Emily shrugged, smiling.
Raven was making "do it do it do it" gestures.
Grim looked confused.
"Sure," Alex finally said.
He signed the poster.
The bandit leader took it reverently.
"Thanks, man. Thanks. Uh." He looked at his men. "Anyone else want an autograph?"
Three more pulled out posters.
Alex signed them all, feeling incredibly awkward.
When he finished, the bandit leader pointed down the road.
"You can pass. Free. And hey—if you see a group of mercenaries in red armor, avoid them. They’re looking for you specifically."
"Mercenaries?" Alex tensed.
"Yeah. Bounty hunters. Temple hired them. Big group—twelve people, all level 45+."
"Thanks for the warning."
"No problem. And hey," the bandit leader winked, "good luck with the Fragments. Hope you win."
The bandits left.
The team stood there, processing what just happened.
"So," Emily said slowly, "you’re famous enough that bandits ask for autographs."
"Apparently," Alex muttered.
"This is incredible," Raven was still laughing. "Absolutely incredible."
"Master. Is. Famous." Grim sounded proud.
"Famous but hunted," Alex pointed out. "Bounty hunters. Level 45+. That’s... bad."
"Then we avoid them," Emily said. "Keep a low profile."
"Agreed."
They continued on, all slightly more cautious now.
---
[JOURNEY - WEEK 1, DAY 7]
They found the dungeon by accident.
They were passing a rocky outcropping when Grim stopped.
"Wait. I sense... something."
"What?" Alex asked.
"Magic. Death. Weak. But. There." He pointed a bony hand at a crack in the rock.
They approached.
Sure enough—a dungeon entrance. Small, partially hidden by vines.
[Dungeon Discovered: Crystal Cave]
[Rank: D]
[Recommended Level: 30-40]
[Boss: Crystal Golem - Level 40]
"D-Rank dungeon," Alex said. "Pretty minor."
"Should we explore it?" Raven asked.
Alex looked at Emily. "Ever been in a dungeon before?"
Emily shook her head. "No. The Temple didn’t allow healers in dungeons. Too dangerous, they said."
"Well," Alex smiled, "time for your first experience then."
They entered.
The interior was beautiful—crystals everywhere, glowing with their own light. Blue, green, red, purple. Like walking through a giant geode.
"Beautiful," Emily breathed.
"But deadly," Raven warned, pointing.
Ahead—Crystal Slimes.
Gelatinous creatures the size of dogs, made entirely of translucent crystal. Levels 30-35.
"Okay Emily," Alex said, "dungeon lesson one: formation."
He spent the next five minutes explaining basics.
"Tank up front—Grim. DPS behind—Raven and me. Support in back—you. Never separate from the group."
"Understood," Emily nodded, taking mental notes.
"Lesson two: conserve MP. Don’t spend everything on the first fight."
"How do I know how much to use?"
"Experience mostly," Alex admitted. "But general rule—small enemies, small spells. Big enemies, big spells."
"Makes sense."
Grim (1.5m form) led the charge on the slimes.
The slimes attacked—shooting crystal spikes.
"Shield!" Grim raised his scythe, blocking.
Alex and Raven attacked from the flanks.
Emily watched, then—when Grim took a hit—cast a quick heal.
[Quick Heal]
[MP: 850 → 820/850]
"Good!" Alex called. "Small spell, efficient use."
They cleared three groups of slimes, Emily improving with each fight.
By the fourth group, she had the rhythm—healing when needed, buffing when appropriate, never wasting MP.
"You’re a natural," Raven said.
Emily blushed but smiled.
Finally—they reached the boss chamber.
[Crystal Golem - Level 40]
[HP: 8,000/8,000]
Three meters tall, made entirely of glowing crystals. Slow but massively strong.
"Okay," Alex said, "real plan. Grim tanks. Raven and I DPS. Emily—keep Grim’s HP up. Don’t let him drop below 50%."
"Understood."
The battle began.
The Golem struck—massive fist crashing toward Grim.
Grim blocked, but the impact sent him sliding back.
[Grim HP: 1,200 → 950/1,200]
Emily healed immediately.
[Heal]
[Grim HP: 950 → 1,100/1,200]
[Emily MP: 820 → 750/850]
"Good!" Alex coordinated. "Raven, right! Me, left!"
They attacked the golem’s legs—weaker than the torso.
[Golem HP: 8,000 → 7,200/8,000]
The Golem roared, spun—
Caught Raven with a backhand swing.
[Raven HP: 920 → 650/920]
"Raven!" Emily switched targets, healed her.
[Raven HP: 650 → 850/920]
The battle lasted fifteen minutes.
Coordination was key—each person doing their job, trusting the others.
Finally, with the Golem at 500 HP, Alex called the finish.
"Grim! Finishing move!"
[Death’s Reaping Strike - Charged]
Grim’s scythe blazed crimson.
It cut through the golem’s core.
CRASH.
The Golem shattered into a thousand crystal fragments.
[Victory]
[Crystal Golem: Defeated]
[Souls Collected: +8.0] → 583.1/1,000
[EXP Gained: +2,000]
[Loot: Valuable Crystals × 50, Crystal Core × 1]
Emily was panting, but smiling.
"That was... incredible."
"Your first dungeon," Alex said. "And?" 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
"I want to do more!"
Everyone laughed.
They collected the loot—the crystals sold for 2,000 crowns later.
---
[JOURNEY - WEEK 2, DAY 3]
River Town—a mid-sized town—was bustling.
Not as big as Central City, but substantial. Maybe 5,000 residents.
They stopped for resupply.
And Raven... Raven attracted attention.
LOTS of attention.
Her gothic appearance—black hair with crimson highlights, brilliant emerald eyes, elaborate clothes—stood out.
Merchant: "Excuse me, are you an adventurer?"
Raven: "Yes."
Merchant: "Or a model?"
Raven: "...No."
Another merchant: "Actress! You must be an actress!"
Raven: "Necromancer."
Pause.
"...Ah. That explains the aesthetic."
Alex and Emily were trying not to laugh.
Grim (hidden in Alex’s backpack) whispered: "Raven. Is. Famous. Too."
They bought supplies—potions, trail rations, updated maps.
Then Emily insisted.
"Raven, you need normal clothes too. You can’t wear that," she gestured at the gothic outfit, "all the time."
"Why not?"
"Because you’re a walking billboard that says ’LOOK AT ME’."
Raven considered.
"Valid point."
They went to a clothing store.
Raven trying on casual clothes was... an event.
Every outfit she came out wearing drew stares.
Simple jeans and t-shirt: she looked like a model.
Casual dress: she looked like an off-duty actress.
Even basic sportswear: she looked incredible.
"How?" Emily muttered. "How do you look good in everything?"
Raven shrugged. "Fragment 3? Maybe it changed more than just power."
She finally bought a more practical version of her gothic attire—keeps the aesthetic but less elaborate. And the scythe could be stored in "dimensional inventory" (Fragment 3 skill—pocket storage).
---
[Encounter 5: Tavern Rumors]
That night, they dined at a local tavern.
And they heard rumors.
"...they say the Reaper appeared in North City..."
Alex and Raven exchanged glances.
Seraph.
"...stole something from the Guild. A powerful artifact..."
"...Void Heralds recruiting aggressively..."
"...something happened at Fallen Citadel. Lich King vs Temple. Hundreds dead..."
"...Temple increased bounty on Alex Carter. 150,000 crowns now..."
Alex pulled his hood lower.
"We need to keep a low profile," he murmured.
"Agreed," Raven and Emily said together.
---
[JOURNEY - WEEK 2, DAY 7 - LAST NIGHT]
Last night before Coral Port.
Camp set. Fire burning. Everyone relaxing.
Then Grim tensed.
"Something. Comes."
"What?" Alex stood.
"Big. Many. Fast."
Seconds later—howls.
Shadow Wolves.
Fifteen of them, levels 42-45, emerging from the forest in coordinated formation.
Too coordinated.
"Formation!" Alex shouted.
Grim exploded into Awakened form—first time since Fallen Citadel.
2.5 meters of armored terror.
Alex used [Army of the Damned].
[MP: 440 → 290/440]
Twenty skeletons emerged, forming a defensive line.
Raven combined her power—[Blood + Death Combo].
Her skeletons + Alex’s skeletons + blood magic = devastation.
Emily buffed everyone, then focused on healing.
The battle was intense—thirty minutes of non-stop combat.
But they won.
[Victory]
[15 Shadow Wolves: Defeated]
[Grim Souls: +12.0] → 595.1/1,000
Afterward, as they cleaned up—
"Those wolves," Raven said, "were too organized."
"Yeah," Alex agreed. "Almost like they were sent."
"Someone tracking us?" Emily asked.
Uncomfortable silence.
"Possible," Alex admitted. "Keep extra vigilance."
---
[DAY 14 - ARRIVAL AT CORAL PORT]
Finally—FINALLY—they saw it.
Coral Port.
A coastal city stretching along the bay. White buildings gleaming in the sun. A bustling harbor with dozens of ships. The smell of salt in the air.
"Beautiful," Emily breathed.
"New home," Raven said.
"New Chapter," Alex added.
"New. Adventure." Grim nodded.
They walked toward the gates.
Guards checked IDs (fake, courtesy of Viktor), letting them through.
And they entered Coral Port.
Their new home.
Their new beginning.
