My Wife is a Dead Villainess, and I'm Her Living Weapon-Chapter 36: Mine
Chapter 36 - Mine
Sera quickly separated from Elian and turned around. She stole a glance at his reaction. Elian, who saw her antics, could only smile wryly. Meanwhile, the air behind Elian grew even colder. So much so that a frost-covered silhouette began to form.
"How dare she..."
Satisfied with the moment, Elian raised his sword, letting a loud wong echo out. He then faced his master and reassured her.
Unlike Elian, who could interact with the world, his master only had him. And while most people would find such a dependency suffocating, the boy didn't.
After all, if she suddenly had another servant, I'd feel exactly the same way.
"Bianca, please do not worry. I am yours. I am doing this to help her and get you some cores and maybe a pet, too. After that, we'll separate. She means nothing to me—please bear with it for now. Trust me." Elian declared without flinching.
The frost ghost looked at Elian before nodding. As the surroundings began to grow warmer, the ice particles tracing Bianca's form melted and disappeared.
Good, although she was fast, the melted ice still produced some water. The sand and heat should take care of that, but you can never be too careful.
"Mr. Knight! Come here! You can sit beside me." Sera called out.
She was sitting in the rear part of the jeep, Charlie lounged beside her. Elian approached and marveled at the sand-colored jeep. It was standard equipment for breakers and the boy always dreamed of owning one.
But did they always look this small? Would I even fit?
Since he rarely interacted with humans, Elian didn't exactly know how tall he was. Bianca seemed smaller but he just assumed that it was because he was crawling on the ground when they met. As for the students of Crestfall, they were all on their knees so he didn't notice.
He raised his foot and stepped on the running boards. But then they bent.
Creak!

The jeep tipped as if it were about to roll.
"WOAH!" "KYA!" "What?!"
Understanding what happened, Elian quickly stepped back. With a loud crash, the jeep righted itself. His eyes saw the pitiful state of the running board and sighed in defeat.
Well crap, I forgot about how much I weight. I probably can't ride cars anymore.
Sera, who saw the entire thing, quickly tried to fix her disheveled hair. With an awkward laugh, she commented wryly, "Uhm, mister knight, you are quite heavy, aren't you?"
Wordlessly, Elian nodded.
The short-haired priestess thought for a moment and then made a suggestion, "I know the rest of you guys can drive there. I will walk with mister knight!"
But when she tried to get out, Elian placed his hand on the door preventing it from opening. He then shook his head. Seeing his actions, Sera blushed as she nodded, "Okay, I will stay in the jeep. Do you perhaps intend to run alongside us?"
Nod
"Okay, Bridget, let's go. I will tell you if you can go faster."
Her companion answered and the jeep slowly advanced. Elian noted the heading and ran forward, leaving the jeep in the dust.
"AH! WAIT! Mister Knight!!!"

The Weapon accompanied the Breakers as they raced along the desert. Sera eventually found an acceptable speed that allowed for fast travel while allowing her to converse with Elian. The boy ran alongside the car while Sera stuck her head out the window, barraging him with questions.
"Where did you come from sir knight? Why can't you speak? Are you mute? Or did you get injured?"
At first, Elian answered with a few shakes of his head—but she was relentless. So he ended up just running in silence. Then again, they couldn't hear him complain anyway.
"Will you please just shut up already? You can't even understand me! Can you believe her, Bianca?"
"Yes, it's like what my friend always says, she is just a toad lusting after swan meat. Just let her flap her gums until crows nest on them."
"Your sayings are really hard to understand. I didn't get either of them."
"Never mind, it's a really old saying."
Eventually the group finally reached a dungeon. Despite Sera's attempts, Elian ignored her the entire ride over. When the group disembarked, Sera quickly ran forward and brought a bottle of water to the black knight.
"Sir Knight! Here—water! Please take some!"
Elian then pointed to his helmet and shook his head.
"You mean you can't remove it?"
Nod
"Maybe it's a cursed divine artifact? I have heard of many such powerful relics discovered in the dungeons." commented the female archer.
"Tsk." Charlie scoffed. "So that's all it was? Pathetic. What use is your strength if you ended up cursed?"
"Ah! That is so sad! Don't worry Mr. Knight! I'm at level 26! When I reach 28, I will choose the Exorcist job. I will purge that cursed armor off you by then," Sera declared proudly, placing her fist on her modest chest.
Ho? So you gain a job at level 28? That's still six levels away for me.
"Bridget's right, that might be why he is so strong. This armor trades his vitality or something for power?" the mage theorized as he typed on his phone.
The boy didn't even bother correcting their misconception and just nodded. Seeing the phone, Elian snatched it away from the mage. He navigated to the text to speech app and began to type.
"[It's okay. I don't mind my being encased in armor.]"
"Ah! So you can talk that way? That's so great! Mr. Knight! Thank you for agreeing to help! I'm Sera Dale—may I know your name?"
Name, huh? I can't introduce myself as Elian Reed now, can I?
"[My name is Pen. Pen Valestra.]"
"W-What? Elian! What are you saying?! Did you just name yourself after an animal?"
Unable to hear Bianca's retort, the rest of the breakers nodded without much a fuss. All except one. The mage's eyes furrowed in curiosity.
"Valestra? Are you perhaps related to the Valestra Institute?"
He knows about the name Valestra? Does he know Bianca too?
Elian's body tensed. At the same time the temperature sharply dropped. Although he couldn't see her, Elian understood her mood from the frigid chill in the air. The cold was lethal—enough to kill a normal person outright. Her emotions were obviously distraught.
It was so cold that the female archer began to rub her arms as she shivered. Fearing that it would be dangerous to allow Ryner to pry or speak of the Valestra institute, Elian moved.
SWOOSH!
The black knight swung his greatsword towards Ryner's neck. It even increased in length, just stopping millimeters before his throat at a speed so fast no one saw it coming. Only the sudden gust of wind revealed what had happened—something massive had moved.
Sera couldn't stifle a yelp in surprise.
"[Do not ask.]"
An uncomfortable tension arose. The humans all broke out in cold sweat. They got reminded that the one with them was really their ally even if he wasn't an enemy.
"Crap, I was told that the air around this dungeon shifts randomly but isn't this sudden drop in temperature too damn severe? Ryner, hold all the questions for later, we only have a few hours before sundown. Everyone, drink your ice-resistance potions. Let's finish the quest and go home."
Seeing the archer's poor attempt to calm the group, Elian didn't argue. He put away his blade and walked toward the dungeon without looking back. He felt a cold presence walk with him. Elian turned to Bianca as he spoke.
"Bianca?"
"..."
So many secrets, hopefully the day when she trusts me enough comes soon.
"Tell me when you are ready. I won't pry. I won't ask anyone else either."
The immediate vicinity warmed up a bit. A quiet whisper flowed in the wind.
"Thank you, Elian."
Nodding, the weapon began to type on the phone he borrowed.
"[I don't mind helping you, but stay out of my way. Touch my cores and I will kill you all.]"
Sera and the rest of the breakers grew restless at Elian's comment. If earlier they trembled from the cold, now it was because of fear.
Most breakers joked about killing each other. But when the one that did it could one shot a Rank A monster and drew swords at the slightest mistake, few would still think it was a good.
Elian saw their reactions but didn't really care. He threw the phone back to its owner. Without another word, he headed to the dungeon entrance. Seeing the portal's color, the boy couldn't help but smile. A strange sense of nostalgia settled in.
Red. Perfect. Another boss core for Bianca.
