My Wife is a Dead Villainess, and I'm Her Living Weapon-Chapter 35: Petty
Chapter 35 - Petty
"Same level, huh?"
Elian Reed looked at the scene before him. A group of breakers gawked as one of them prostrated herself to him. Behind him lay the bisected corpse of a monster—a quiet monument to how far he'd come.
From a defect who struggled to earn enough to get by, to now a powerhouse who held the faith of people in his hands. The responsibility felt heavy. He even grew fearful of what his future might hold. What if he made a mistake? He was merely a boy who hadn't even turned twenty.

But then a cold breeze comforted him. To his left was a dazzling woman more beautiful than any other. For a brief moment, she appeared and made a smug smile.
Ah, that's right. I am not alone.
Though he couldn't touch her physically, just her mere presence set Elian's heart at ease. He noticed it during the past weeks, when he was with Bianca, the world didn't appear so scary. And though he was afraid of what was to come, so long as he was with her—
I can bear it.
Something plinked against his chest, followed by a soft beep.
"Elian, the shielder tried to scan you. They see you as an enemy. Try to practice blending in with other Breakers. Do not worry, should the worse come to pass, I will intervene."
The boy nodded without answering. He glared at Charlie, pondering how to kill him.
"Sera! This bastard is unregistered breaker! He might be a criminal! A rogue!"
"SHUT UP! DO YOU WANT TO DIE!"
"BUT I AM STILL THE LEADER OF THIS PARTY! I AM THE ONE WHO CALLS THE SHOTS!" the man roared.
"Then I quit! You are going to get us killed because of your stupidity!"
Two more beeps followed. The sources came from the archer and the mage. Seeing their reactions to the scans, Elian began to lose interest. He didn't even really need directions, he could have just looted their corpses.
Rather than show gratitude, they acted like ingrates. Only the priestess seemed to feel any shame.
"It's like trying to reassure squirrels that you meant them no harm. Only these bastards aren't even cute. I should just take the corpse and go."
"You will find that breakers are in general a malicious group of trash. Their egos are both fragile and as large as the moon, only a fraction of them are worthy of note. The rest are just honorless dogs drunk on their own vomit," Bianca chastised in agreement.
Ignoring the breakers. Elian turned around, summoned his sword, and cleaved the large scorpion corpse. Using flashy strikes, he created the illusion that the corpse was turned into dust by his blows. In truth, every piece had vanished into his Living Metal.
"Done, let's go Bianca. Should we try the Kinetic Orientation Method?" he teased.
"You are quite petty aren't you, my weapon?"
"Haha, I do not want to hear that from you. Ms. Petty. Someone is bound to notice all the ice you make."
"So what if someone does? Does it look like I care?"
"Of course you don't my lady," he added with a grin.
Elian lowered his body and prepared to break into a run, he also shrunk his greatsword back to 1.5 meters. But then a hand suddenly tried to touch him.
"Kya!"
Sera fell on her butt as blood spurted from her hand. Elian didn't move and grew irritated. Only he saw a short blade on his shoulder, and it was covered in blood.
Was that my fault? She was the one who grabbed me all of a sudden.
The woman on the ground looked at the large gash on her hand. Her fingers dangled, limp and nearly severed. Elian rubbed the back of his head and grabbed a potion from Bianca's magic bag.
He kneeled and took Sera's hand. Flicking the cork away, Elian doused the gash with the healing potion, restoring it completely. Surprised and in awe the girl quickly threw her arms around Elian as she giggled excitedly.
"I knew you were a nice person! Please help us! We need your power!"
Surprised by the skinship, Elian could only stammer, "W-What?"
"This flat-chested gilded leech..."
Sera who noticed Elian's surprise, quickly let go, lowered her head to the floor and explained.
"Please help us, we are being bullied by the larger guilds, if we do not hunt a Snow wolf, they will revoke our breaker licenses and close our guild! We have people depending on us! Please help! We will do anything, I offer even my purity for your assistance! Ouch!"
In an instant, the ground beneath Sera turned cold. Even though she was just healed, her hands suddenly caught frostbite. Even the rest of her party grew confused. The mage in particular observed Elian with intent.
"Elian, ignore them. Her hand is healed, let's go."
A sharp pain came from the boy's heart causing him to stay in place. He gazed at Sera who kneeled on the floor but saw another. An older woman in her forties begging while in tears. The only similarity between that woman and Sera was their hair and stature but it was enough.
"Elian?"
Ignoring his master, Elian once again retrieved a high-class potion and poured it on Sera's hands. He gingerly examined them afterwards. The priest caught off guard by his tenderness looked away in embarrassment.
"T-Thank you..." She stammered.
"Elian, why are you paying attention to her?"
"She reminds me of my mother. I want to help her Bianca, please let me."
Though he was the one asking, his tone and demeanor left no room for discussion. An exasperated sigh came from Bianca a second later along with her permission.
"What could I possibly say against that? Fine. Do as you wish."
"Thank you Bianca," Elian smiled.
As the boy didn't look at his master's direction, he was facing the priest when he smiled.
"Uhm...I am fine now, can you please let go of my hand?"
"Oh, right."
Immediately Elian released her hands and helped her up. Sera was as bright as a tomato and fidgeted in place.
"Mr. Knight, does that mean you will help us?"
Elian nodded.
"Great! Thank you so much! We are going to the Snow wolf dungeon, it's nearby. Once we complete the task, we will...."
Halfway through her words, Elian no longer paid attention. He was in fact conversing with someone else.
"Snow wolves, I always wanted one. I actually came to this place because I wanted to see them."
"Say no more, you got lost and never managed to find their dungeon," Elian retorted.
"My foolish weapon, aren't you being really rude lately? What happened to the adorable respectful boy I found in that cave?"
"He's gone. You threw him to the Worker Ants without remorse remember?" the boy replied with a grin.
"Tsk...Being petty is not a virtue, Elian."
"Haha, don't worry, I will get you a Snow wolf as payment, shame there are no penguins around here."
"...You are never going to forget that aren't you?"
"Nope."
Contrasting their harmonious banter, the breakers were on the verge of collapse.
"SERA! ARE YOU INSANE? WHO WOULD TAKE THAT BASTARD WITH US? WE DON'T KNOW HIM!"
SLAP!
"Charlie, I tolerated your stupidity for quite a long time now. Gambling our licenses for a chance to get promoted was also your idea. We almost died today! He might be scary, but he is powerful," Sera then added shyly. "I-I also think he is fond of me. He used two S-Class potions for my minor wounds."
The air around them suddenly began to drop in temperature.
"This delusional second-rate strumpet! How dare she even think, MY Weapon has any interest in her!"
Elian couldn't help but laugh at Bianca's fits of jealousy. Although no one could actually hear him.
"Charlie, Sera is right, give it a rest. I just want to complete this quest and go home. Dying one day is enough. Her Talent—Discerning—is A-Rank. She hasn't made a wrong call once. On the other hand, you have been making nothing but bad calls over the past month," the male mage added.
He then pulled out an armored military jeep and rode shotgun. Their female archer, quickly sat in the driver's seat. Charlie muttered under his breath but joined them. Sera, on the other hand, walked toward Elian only for her foot to slip on ice.
"Ahhh!"
But then she fell forward, Elian afraid she would die from his armor, quickly caught her gently.
"Oh... thank you, Mr. Knight..." she said, blushing scarlet.
"I am going to turn this vile lowborn scheming bedwarmer into a statue..."
