My Wife is a Hidden Big Shot-Chapter 148 - 142: The Girl in Front of Me Is a Big Shot
Hannah froze for a moment, then the corners of her mouth curled into a smile.
’This year’s freshman courage trial is going to be interesting. The first group always gets hit the hardest.’
"Not bad, freshman! Anyone else want to join their group?"
The remaining boys naturally wanted to be in a group with a girl. Especially in this kind of atmosphere, it was easy for a "hero saves the damsel" scenario to unfold.
In the end, Hannah sighed and had them play a game of chance, finally selecting two of the boys.
The five of them rode the elevator slowly downward. Aside from Seth Sterling, who kept his eyes squeezed shut in terror, the other boys were enthusiastically chatting with Aurora Sinclair.
"So, why’d you sign up for the archeology department?"
"I like it."
"Aren’t you scared, then?"
"Nope."
The four boys: ...
’How is this girl not scared at all? Is that a glint of excitement in her eyes?’
The elevator stopped on level B2. As the doors slowly slid open, a terrified Seth Sterling immediately buried his face in Danny Archer’s back.
Perhaps Seth’s nervousness was contagious, as the other boys couldn’t help but tense up as well.
But it was pitch-black outside. There was nothing there.
Danny Archer swallowed hard and was the first to step out. Suddenly, lights on both sides flickered on, making Seth Sterling scream instantly.
"Stop screaming! There was nothing to be scared of, but your yelling gave me goosebumps," Danny Archer said irritably, slapping him on the back before continuing forward.
The place looked like an ancient tomb’s tunnel, surrounded by earthen walls. Some antique-looking porcelain and old bowls were placed to the side.
Aurora Sinclair walked over, picked up a piece of porcelain to examine it, then put it back.
Just then, a distorted male voice came from somewhere: "Who... dares disturb... my... rest..."
This time, Seth Sterling was so scared he threw his arms around Danny Archer, trembling from head to toe.
"Who is it?"
Unexpectedly, Aurora Sinclair took a running start, kicked off the earthen wall, and yanked something down. It was a small speaker, with a wire still attached.
The voice was coming from the little speaker.
The student in the control room was stunned and completely forgot his next line.
"Don’t be afraid..."
When Seth Sterling saw the object in Aurora Sinclair’s hand, he was so grateful he almost hugged her.
The group continued forward. Suddenly, all the lights went out, and a chilling gust of wind blew from an unknown direction.p>
Seth Sterling, terrified again, shrank behind Danny Archer.
"Seth Sterling, I’m telling you, maybe we should call you ’Seth the Mouse.’ With guts like these, you still signed up for archeology? What were you thinking?"
Seth Sterling hunched his shoulders. "It’s not like I wanted to. My dad forced me. He said if I didn’t, he’d send me back to our hometown to guard the ancestral graves!"
"Hahaha... What a great dad!"
"Couldn’t you have just changed your major application behind his back?"
Seth Sterling said quietly, "My dad is Wayne Sterling..."
"Holy shit! The department head! Boss Sterling, we’re counting on you for our exams from now on."
But Seth Sterling just shook his head repeatedly. "My legs turn to jelly whenever I see my dad. We can’t even have a normal conversation at home."
As soon as he finished speaking, a green light suddenly flashed ahead, revealing a skeleton blocking their path.
"AHH—" Terrified, Seth Sterling dropped his flashlight and bolted back the way they came.
"Seth, don’t just run off—"
CLANG—
Aurora Sinclair shone her flashlight over and saw that Seth Sterling had stepped on a porcelain bowl and taken a nasty fall, landing flat on his face.
Danny Archer quickly ran over. "Bro, you okay?"
"It hurts..." Seth Sterling clutched his hip, his face contorted in pain.
Everyone rushed to help him up. "We told you not to run off, but you had to, didn’t you? It’s pitch-black in here. Weren’t you afraid of running into a wall?"
The pain completely drove all other thoughts from Seth’s mind. Supported by Danny Archer and another boy, he slowly limped forward.
Aurora Sinclair glanced at him, then walked over to the skeleton and stepped on a floor light. The green glow on the skeleton instantly vanished.
Seth Sterling was still scared of the skeleton and didn’t dare to move forward. In the end, Aurora Sinclair simply grabbed the skeleton’s body, snapped the steel wire suspending it from the ceiling, and tossed the whole frame aside.
This fearless display startled the upperclassman in the control room again. He turned nervously to the man behind him. "Professor Sterling, that was a prop we borrowed from the medical school..."
"It’s fine. This little girl is interesting... You guys carry on!" Wayne Sterling didn’t seem to care about the prop at all, laughing heartily as he watched the scene on the infrared monitor.
Aurora Sinclair’s group finally reached the last stage. Inside were two neat rows of coffins.
If Danny Archer and the other boy hadn’t been holding on to him for dear life, Seth Sterling would have probably bolted again.
’Based on my experience with horror-themed escape rooms, this is exactly the kind of place where scary things love to pop out.’
Danny Archer chuckled. "Seth, what’s there to be afraid of! I’m here! Even if something does jump out, it won’t hurt you."
"I don’t... I wanna go home..."
"Well, we’re leaving then! If something comes up from behind, there’ll be no one to protect you!"
Seth Sterling was now too scared to speak, squeezing his eyes shut and shaking his head violently.
"The sign up ahead says ’Exit.’ We just have to walk past it, and we’ll have completed the mission."
Danny Archer started to drag him forward but was stopped by Aurora Sinclair.
He thought Aurora had finally gotten scared and was about to offer some comforting words to get closer to her, but then he saw her already walking ahead by herself.
She held a yellow paper slip between her fingers. The normally flimsy piece of paper was now miraculously standing perfectly straight.
Just then, from a corner, came the sound of a coffin lid sliding open, sending a shiver through Seth Sterling’s entire body.
Aurora Sinclair acted in a flash. The yellow paper slip shot out like a Hidden Weapon, flying straight at the coffin lid.
With a loud BANG, the lid slammed shut again, scaring the people hiding inside the coffin so badly they didn’t dare to move.
Aurora Sinclair turned to the four stunned boys and gestured with her hand. "Let’s go."
"O-Okay..."
The four boys stared in terror at the yellow paper that had fallen to the floor.
’That... was that really paper?’
"M-Master... have you practiced martial arts?"
Aurora Sinclair nodded.
The four boys were momentarily speechless.
’Suddenly, it felt like the girl in front of them was a total pro.’
The "Exit" sign was next to an elevator. Seth Sterling only finally felt safe once he was inside it.
One of the boys next to her asked Aurora Sinclair curiously, "Sinclair, what’s your Combat Power?"
Aurora Sinclair recalled the value measured at Tanner Sinclair’s place and replied, "Ninth Rank Great Warrior."
Hearing this, the four boys nearly went weak in the knees.
Danny Archer was the first to react, cupping his fist. "Boss, please take us under your wing from now on!"
Aurora Sinclair nodded.
Just then, the elevator suddenly stopped. Seth Sterling looked at the ’B1’ floor indicator and said in despair, "It’s not over yet!"

「Meanwhile.」
A menacing, vicious-looking man suddenly burst into the museum’s first-floor lobby.
He was immediately followed by a group of uniformed personnel who surrounded the entire museum.
This man was a C-rank fugitive being escorted by The Martial Affairs Bureau. While passing by Arcadian University, he had suddenly broken free from the Bureau investigators’ restraints and fled onto the campus. He ran through the East Gate, and a short distance ahead was the museum.
At that moment, a group of students who hadn’t yet taken the elevator were still on the first floor. His sudden entrance startled them.
Because Hannah was on the outer edge of the crowd, he immediately took her hostage. "Nobody move, or I’ll strangle her—"
"Ah... help me..." Hannah was so scared she instantly burst into tears.
A male student tried to step forward and rescue her, but the fugitive sent him flying with a single palm strike, knocking him unconscious.
"Martin Archer, you are surrounded! Give up and come out now—"
"Stay back, or I’ll kill her—"
