Narika: The Ghost Bride-Chapter 171 - One Hundred And Seventy-One:A Life For A Life, What’s Your Choice,Oregon?
Oregon opened his eyes to meet instant blinding light that made him close his eyes, before with ease he opened them softly as he felt the soft mattress he was laying in, that made him waste no more time before he sat up to take in his environment.
He wasn’t at home.
Well, there was no home anymore. Lucifer had burnt his palace to the ground and luckily bought the favors of the Grand Alliance to call him and his son a traitor.
So there was no home to go back to anymore, and judging from the way Sakura had locked him in with the help of Nina, he knew that she’s probably suffering in Lucifer’s dungeon by now.
Afterall , her main objective of locking him up wasn’t just to treat him the way he did to her, but she wanted him out of the way while she went ahead to take revenge against her dead child.
But his stupid niece didn’t know Lucifer the way, he knew that son of a bitch ever since he was thrown down to hell. He didn’t knew how dark, cunning and manipulative he was. Lucifer’s anger towards Adrik, that made him tag him a traitor was just because the boy was more human than a devil.
Unlike him who had no human empathy, Adrik would be the fitted prince to rule hell just to restore balance to the dimension once again, but his father bringing Marilyn was the only hindrance, and did he forget to mention his siblings too.
Unlike Adrik, Oregon had come to figure out that Lucifer’s children were more of him, that’s why none of their devilish soul could sync with Adrik when he was there. Especially Abbadon, the stupid son of his who doesn’t know that his father was just using him because of what he had to offer.
The moment Lucifer notices that he’s changing like Adrik, he would give him the same treatment he had given the chosen one.
Oregon didn’t know what was happening at this moment, but he knew that if truly what Lucifer’s best friend, Aiden, had told him about what Lucifer’s deal with Narika was, with his obsession to curb her life force so that Baram would take complete possession of her body.
Then Adrik has to do more than protect her, if Lucifer succeeds to breed her instead of him. Then, there’s no way there’s any redemption coming to hell because Lucifer, would make sure his chosen child would rain down fire and brimstone to every living one on earth.
Lucifer wanted to be worshipped like a God.
He wanted to take the original light from the Overruler, and that’s something he couldn’t do when he was in the crystal palace. How do he think he would achieve that by impregnating Narika?
The door chosed to open at this time cutting his thoughts short, as he watched Micheal and Camael walk into his room, a big smile on Micheal’s face as if he had achieved something by having him here.
"Oregon, the king of the ghosts. I never really hoped to see you here one day, but life is full of surprise right?" Micheal laughed, before stopping in front of where he sat on the bed. " How are you liking your new environment?" He added, his tone was clearly showing that he was mocking him.
Well if Oregon can remember, Micheal was the rude twin while Gabriel was the easy going type, but the Overruler had his reasons for sending him here instead of Gabriel, so he had nothing to do about that.
"Why am I?"Oregon asked, he didn’t have time to beat around the bush, he needed answers right now.
"Grumpy and straightforward, I like that. Gabriel did describe you better than that, but you see Oregon, unlike my brother am not..." Micheal paused, turning to look at Cameal to complete his conversation for him but he ignored him.
"Fine, straight to business it is." He said as he rolled his eyes at Cameal, before returning his gaze over to Oregon.``We are on the run to catch a demon and you are going to help us."
"Look, if this is about Adrik, i am afraid i can’t help you. I refuse to choose sides in this." Oregon said seriously.
Micheal laughed," Who says you have a choice in this, Oregon? When you weren’t able to stop your niece from locking you up like Rapunzel in the towel, my men were there to help you, so you owe me big time, Oregon."Micheal added.
"He’s not a threat to you, Micheal. I have seen the boy, I have watched him grow into what he was and i can tell you, Adrik is not who you should be concerned about." Oregon advised.
"You don’t tell me how to do my work, Oregon. Adrik’s destiny was damned the moment his mother opened her legs for Lucifer."
"He’s just an innocent child, Micheal. He didn’t choose this life for himself, but i can tell you he’s more human than a demon, that’s why Lucifer is trying to kill him."
"Well that makes the job easier for us, he kills his son and we get to kill him on the day of the red moon." Micheal laughed.
"You don’t understand, Micheal. You can’t kill Adrik, if anything you should be protecting him away from Lucifer, Lucifer is out to hurt him because of the witch." Oregon added, and this time his words had Micheal interested for the first time to hear what exactly he was trying to imply.
"I don’t understand, why would Lucifer hurt his son for the girl?" He asked, stepping forward to read Oregon’s mind in case he was trying to lie.
"Lucifer is trying to get Narika, he has a plan to breed her instead of his son. Adrik is trying to change the fate of the prophecy by not sleeping with Narika."
"That’s absurd, how long do you think his life of celibacy is going to hold off? I’m sorry, but i don’t believe you. What i want is clear, you are going to help me find Adrian and kill him."
"Then what happens to Narika? The moment you take Adrik away from her, that gives Lucifer the chance to get her?"
"Well don’t worry your old mind, the Overruler has big plans for the girl, she’s going back home the moment Adrik dies. Then we kill Lucifer, end of conversation." Micheal said with finality in his tone, he isn’t prepared to listen to Oregon talk nonsense again.
"Killing Adrik had nothing to do with me, i am sorry but i can’t help you."
"Really? You should have think that through before saying that if i were you."Micheal’s voice sounded dark.
"Go to hell, I won’t help you." Oregon stood his ground.
"Fine then." Micheal said, before turning to leave. "Camael, have our men kill Sakura on sight once we have attacked Lucifer’s den."
Instantly Oregon sat up from his bed, and tried rushing to him but a force threw him back to his bed." You will do no such thing, Micheal.keep Sakura out of this!"
"Just like i said, Oregon. You have no say in this, a life for a life. You help me kill Adrik or you watch your niece die, what is it going to be? Would you let your family die because of Lucifer’s son?"
Micheal asked, a grin fanning his face as he saw how bad Oregon was trying to think of a way out of this. But he knew he’s going to give in soon enough.
"Call me when you have made a decision." Micheal said lastly, before leaving the conflicted Oregon.
