Necromancer: I Am A Disaster-Chapter 654: The Water God Awakens
The statues in the second courtyard were far fewer than those in the first.
There were only around 50, all depicting various kinds of monsters.
At the very center stood a figure that bore a resemblance to Dreadbeast Kings, yet radiated an even more overwhelming presence.
Nearby, Lin Moyu spotted the familiar statue of a Dreadbeast King, along with the statues of other Dreadbeasts.
Carefully observing them, he noticed clear differences.
Aside from size, the most striking distinction lay in their fur.
Each Dreadbeast possessed several thick, elongated strands growing from its head, looking sturdier and different from the fur covering the rest of its body.
Ordinary Dreadbeasts had three to five such strands. But the central statue possessed nine.
“The number of strands must represent strength.”
“Three to five for ordinary Dreadbeasts.”
“Six for Dreadbeast Kings.”
“Then this one…”
He raised his gaze to the towering statue and murmured, “An emperor among the Dreadbeasts.”
This discovery revealed that the Dreadbeasts were a powerful race governed by a strict hierarchy, one whose combat strength must have been terrifying.
“From these statues, it seems the ancient great war was fought between the Gods and the Dreadbeasts.”
“That may be why the Gods fell.”
“I saw similar scenes in the Lightning God’s dungeon.”
“But these?”
Beyond the Dreadbeasts, the courtyard also housed statues of enormous insects—countless varieties, grotesque and savage.
Even the smallest exceeded two meters in height, while the largest rose beyond ten.
They were unnervingly lifelike, their ferocity seeming to surpass even that of the Dreadbeasts.
Lin Moyu suspected these creatures had also played a role in the fall of the Gods, but the statues alone offered no further clues.
He pressed onward into the third courtyard.
Here, the statues depicted the human race.
Human class users stood frozen in time, clad in diverse equipment and wielding powerful weapons.
Each statue radiated an awe-inspiring presence.
“These are all God-level powerhouses.” Lin Moyu realized. Only those who had reached the God-level were worthy of being enshrined here.
He counted them carefully. There were exactly 300 statues, representing 300 God-level powerhouses.
Shock rippled through him, “I never imagined the human race once had so many God-level experts.”
The statues were arranged in a triangular formation. At the very front stood only two figures, followed by expanding rows stretching backward.
The closer to the front, the stronger the aura. The two leading statues were undoubtedly the strongest humans of that age.
“The Kunlun Great God said that back then, human geniuses emerged in droves, needing only a few years to rise from the first class awakening to the God-level.”
“Compared to today, that truly was a golden age.”
He bowed respectfully toward the statues.
They were his ancestors.
Whatever the outcome, they had paid the price of blood to protect this world, as well as humanity.
“The believes of the human race will never shatter. Our legacy will never end. Rest in peace, ancestors.”
With that, Lin Moyu stepped into the fourth courtyard.
By now, the statues from the previous courtyards had formed a clear narrative in his mind.
The humans and the Gods had once joined forces to wage war against the Dreadbeasts and those monstrous insects.
The battle must have been unimaginably brutal.
The final outcome was likely victory.
Otherwise, the world would not have existed as it did now.
But the cost must have been catastrophic.
The fourth courtyard held only a single statue, towering 20 meters high.
Encased within crystal-clear ice was a woman.
“The Water God…”
A divine aura seeped from the statue, unmistakable and profound.
To be certain, Lin Moyu activated the Detection spell.
[Water God (sleeping state)]
Though the spell revealed no detailed attributes, it was enough.
The woman sealed in ice was truly the Water God.
The Water God was beautiful, not merely striking, but possessing a beauty that seemed to gather the finest traits of the human race into one flawless whole.
In her, there were practically no imperfections.
Even frozen in ice, she radiated a feminine gentleness that stirred pity in all who beheld her.
Lin Moyu had to admit that she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen.
When he produced the Water God’s Flute, the Water God’s aura fluctuated faintly.
The Water God’s Flute emitted a soft glow, flowing like a clear stream into the Water God’s embrace.
Unlike the violent energy of the Lightning God, everything here was permeated with a gentleness as yielding as water.
The flute rose from Lin Moyu’s hand, touched the ice, and merged into it without a sound, coming to rest in the Water God’s hand.
In the blink of an eye, the massive ice sculpture dissolved into pure water element that scattered into the air.
The entire process was instantaneous, yet elegant and restrained, devoid of any harshness.
Freed from the ice, the Water God floated in midair. A soft sigh echoed as she opened her eyes.
Her pale blue eyes were beautiful beyond description.
Even Lin Moyu felt his focus falter for a brief moment.
The Water God had been perfect before, but now there was an added touch of dazzling brilliance and fragility.
Her sigh carried an air of endless grievance, as though she had borne untold suffering.
She looked at Lin Moyu, “Thank you for waking me.”
Her voice matched her appearance—gentle beyond compare.
Though Lin Moyu sensed no malice, he remained vigilant.
As she awakened, the water element surged toward her without pause, and her aura fluctuated wildly, rising and falling in an unstable rhythm.
He immediately understood: this was not normal. Her injuries had not healed. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
“Honored Water God, have your injuries recovered?” Lin Moyu asked.
The Water God slowly descended to the ground and released another sigh.
She did not answer, but her silence spoke volumes.
“Are they that severe?”
Sorrow surfaced in her eyes, “My foundation has been damaged. It will be difficult to heal.”
Her grief permeated the palace, stirring the water element into restless waves.
Lin Moyu noticed that even in this short time, her aura had grown more unstable.
Awakening her might not have been a good thing after all.
“Is there no other way?” He asked.
“There is.” The Water God replied with a faint smile, “But it is difficult. We Gods are different from you humans. Human healing spells are useless to us. Our foundation lies in the divine soul; what you humans call the soul.”
“If it’s difficult, then it’s still possible.” Lin Moyu said, “Tell me. Perhaps I can help.”
He was no saint, but neither was he a villain.
The Water God had once fought alongside humanity’s ancestors, and it was he who had awakened her.
If there was something he could do, he was willing to try.
“If the God of Life were still alive, there might be hope. Alas, she was the first of us to fall.”
“Still… she should not have truly perished. She should have a chance to be resurrected.”
“If I could endure until then…”
Her voice stopped abruptly. Her gaze fixed on the scepter in Lin Moyu’s hand: the Genesis Scepter.
Lin Moyu shook his head, “She should have perished completely.”
Shock flickered through the Water God’s eyes, “Even the Genesis Scepter has shattered… It seems much occurred after I fell into slumber. Can you tell me what happened?”
There was no reason to conceal it. Lin Moyu briefly recounted the events in the Putrid Corpse Land.
Disappointment settled over her expression, “Then there truly is no hope.”
“Besides the God of Life, is there really no other way?”
The Water God sighed again, “Perhaps there is.”
With that sigh, the water element seemed to be tinged with sorrow.
Lin Moyu, however, remained unmoved.
He disliked this atmosphere of lamentation. Problems were meant to be solved, not sighed over.
“I’ll search for another way.” Lin Moyu said firmly.
“Thank you. Whether I revive or not is not that important.” The Water God replied softly.
Though she seemed indifferent to her own fate, her gratitude was genuine.
Lin Moyu asked, “Why did your place of slumber remain hidden before, only to suddenly show signs of activity now?”
He knew that even in sleep, the Water God was not entirely unaware of the outside world.
The Water God said quietly, “Because of the godhead of the God of Holy Melody. She was a high-tier God. The power of her godhead was immense and suppressed my instinctive will.”
Among the Gods, hierarchy was absolute: lower-tier Gods, mid-tier Gods, high-tier Gods, Great Gods…
Each tier represented an overwhelming gap in authority and power.
Had the Water God not been gravely wounded and in deep slumber, the influence of a mere godhead would not have mattered.
But in her weakened state, the godhead of the God of Holy Melody had been enough to suppress her entirely.
