Chapter 1109: A Prison, A Captive, And A Captor
Stepping out of the dark doorway, Alexander, followed by his throng of friends and the sect master possessing Gu Fang’s body, entered a room made of stone.
Sigils on the walls started lighting up at Tian Kuo’s arrival, as if welcoming him into their humble abode, and Tian Kuo shivered in disgust.
"I hate being down here. Let us make haste," he complained.
Alex chuckled, looking around the room to find what they were here for. But the room was barren of anything but them.
"Where are the demons? I can sense their presence in the room, but I can’t see them," he asked, looking back at Tian Kuo.
The fox grimaced at him, still pissed that he had to unveil some of his secrets to someone as rude and roughshod as this young man. To him, it was a slap in the face that someone as young as him could even speak against him so casually.
But he swallowed his pride, curious to see him fail in upholding his word. If he really could kill a demon, it was a win for him, and if he couldn’t, then he would be getting rid of a thorn in his side that could come to ache him again in the future.
"They are hidden. I don’t just leave them in plain sight. What if someone were to find their way into this jail? Letting a human inside a room full of sealed demons is not a good idea.
"Having you all here is already a risk in its own right. If they can muster even an ounce of their strength to sense you, they might start fighting harder to break free. You understand that, right?" he explained.
Alex chuckled at his veiled threat.
"Just let me see them already, Tian Kuo. I don’t have all day."
The fox huffed at his rudeness but still acquiesced to his demand.
With a wave of his hand, a slew of symbols flew across the room, sticking to the walls in various places, activating a formation Alexander hadn’t seen until now. This surprised him, as he had been watching the room for hidden formations this entire time.
’Seems he still has some hidden cards. I’ll remember not to let my guard down completely with him,’ Alex mentally noted.
And he could tell he wasn’t alone, with how David, Kary, and Violette were eyeing the walls where the symbols stuck.
Soon enough, however, everyone’s attention diverted from the walls to the center of the room, where hideous statues started appearing.
Much to everyone’s disgust, fourteen devilish figures appeared in the middle of the room, all sporting varying levels of monstrosity, some almost human-like, if not for horns or wings, and others outright barely human.
Alexander immediately pulsed his mana through the room once to scan through the sealed entities and almost instantly found one whose seal was considerably weak. He felt the entity writhe mentally in response to his mana the second it passed through it.
A grin crept up his face as he started walking over to his soon-to-be pet project and living proof of his claims that he could both break the seal and kill a demon permanently.
Reaching a six-foot-tall, slender-human-like demon with almost handsome traits, aside from the eight-inch-long horns protruding from the side of its head, Alex chuckled.
"I bet you can’t wait to get out of there, you ugly bastard. What’s your powers, I wonder. With a face like yours, I doubt you are anything other than an incubus. I wonder if Paimon knows of you or if you know of her," he said, walking around the sealed, statue-like demon.
He felt a sliver of a mana reaction as he spoke with a mocking tone and knew the demon was free enough to hear him.
Someone else, however, wasn’t so sure.
"You know they can’t hear you while sealed, right? They are barely aware of what is happening. The seal only lets them feel the passing of time. The eternal torture of knowing they are locked away and how long it has been without the hope of ever getting free," Tian Kuo said, looking at him smugly.
But Alexander smirked at him.
"Oh, trust me. He knows I’m there. He hears me. And he is pissed about it. A mere push and this seal is broken in seconds. Of course, it won’t matter. I can kill him without breaking a sweat. But I wonder how he would react to seeing his captor in here, with him."
A slight shiver ran down Tian Kuo’s spine.
He wasn’t afraid of a demon, not in the least. However, fighting a demon in this current body, which he had not yet completely accustomed to, was not ideal.
He would be at a tremendous disadvantage, and the risk factor was much higher than it would usually be. The only way to do that would be to have his elders help contain the demon while he seals it.
But that was not an option. Not in this room.
And letting the demon leave the Pagoda was an even worse outcome.
While he was lost in thought, Alexander kept nagging the demon with insults about its power and claiming it to be so weak it was captured by an inferior being.
He could tell all his mocking was having a significant effect on the demon’s wrath, and the seal was weakening by the second. Of course, he also knew this wouldn’t be enough to completely break it.
He would still need to offer that last push. freeweɓnovel-cøm
But he was ready for it.
"Everyone to the sides of the room. Get ready to defend yourselves if he slips my grasp," Alex commanded his friends.
They all immediately walked to the edges of the oval stone room and went into combat readiness, their weapons being drawn from their hips for those who had some still.
That’s when Tian Kuo snapped out of his musing and opened his mouth to question the need for this.
But he felt the next pulse of energy from the young man, which he could only surmise was the weak, other-world version of Qi, and he frowned.
"What is that going to achieve?" he asked, wanting to mock Alexander.
But before he could push into his mockery, the pervasive presence of the demon lashed out inside the room as a resounding cracking sound echoed from the center of it.
"By the gods... How?" he asked, feeling dread creep into his heart.
"AHAHAHAHAHA! I’M FREE! FREEEEEEE!!!"
