Chapter 198: IT WASN’T NORMAL

"Princess, this dress suits you. No, all these dresses suit you." Adeline’s expression was a mixture of pride and distress.

She was having a very hard time choosing a dress for Aristia.

"Just give me the purple dress." Aristia pointed between purple and pink, slightly speechless.

"Hmm... okay." Adeline nodded. She looked like she was leaning towards the pink, but Aristia had already chosen.

She had no choice to dress her in the purple dress.

"Princess looks amazing! Ahh!" Adeline almost screamed.

Adeline’s number one hoppy was praising and gushing over Aristia.

[I could have said she’s my number one fangirl, but my parents are still here... But Adeline’s competing with them and is hot on their trail.]

Adeline fixed a purple hair pin on her hair and clapped her hands.

"Done!"

Aristia took a glance at her reflection. Yes, I’m really beautiful." She patted her adorable face.

Just looking at her own adorable face melted her own heart.

"Let’s go, princess." Adeline’s voice snapped Aristia out of her dazed state.

"Ahem!" She cleared her throat and looked away from the mirror. "Okay. Millie."

Millie leaped down from the bed and stood beside her.

They left the room.

After meeting up with the rest of the family, they exited the mansion. A carriage was waiting for them.

The family got into the carriage and left the mansion.

"I hope brother in-law won’t take it to heart. We said we’d visit, but haven’t until now." Catherine said with amusement.

They were finally going to the palace the day after the royal children visited.

Wilson chuckled. "He’ll just have to deal with it. It’s not like he’ll be saddened, but I’ve listened to him talk a lot after the council meetings about us all coming. We can’t keep pushing it."

Their gaze inadvertently stopped on Aristia at his words.

Aristia knew why.

They were supposed to have visited the King and his family a long while ago, but her parents hadn’t made any move.

It was all because they wanted to give Aristia time because they knew that she would have to appear in the palace with her daemon.

But they couldn’t prolong it any longer.

Wilson was just joking, but he knew it would make his brother feel distressed if they still didn’t show up.

[I appreciate it, but it really wasn’t needed.] Aristia thought, looking away from them and out of the window. She rubbed Millie’s head.

Aristia caught sight of the guards at the palace gate.

They immediately bowed as the carriage passed.

The carriage rode along the cobblestone path and finally stopped after a few more minutes.

Once the family had climbed down the carriage, the carriage rode away.

The family walked into the palace.

Servants bowed, "Your Royal Highnesses!"

Quite a few noblemen could be seen walking through the corridors, each having their own business to tend to in the palace.

Aristia looked down and smoothed her dress. Millie that she had been carrying in the carriage was not in her arms.

Seeing the Imperial Prince and his family, the noblemen passing by bowed respectfully.

Wilson and his family acknowledged the greetings and continued on their way.

Heading deeper into the palace, they met Fedor coming from the other end of the hall they were walking in.

On sighting them, he smiled, his gaze pausing on Aristia just briefly before returning to his brother and his wife.

"You’ve finally decided to come." He said. Turning to Catherine, he smiled. "Cath."

"Brother in-law." Catherine returned the smile.

Wilson smirked in reply to his brother’s words, "I have."

Fedor threw a jab to his side in retaliation, laughing loudly.

Wilson held his hands up, "We’ll come earlier another time, brother. How about a spar later?"

Wilson and Fedor had always been close since childhood, and even as adults, no longer being princes but King and Imperial Prince, they still remained especially close.

"Alright. I’ll hold you up on that." Fedor nodded. He then turned to the children.

"My dearest niece and nephew, how do you do?"

"Good morning, Uncle." Aristia and Alaric greeted.

Fedor ruffled their hair before straightening up and talking to Wilson.

"Let’s go. Father and Mother have been waiting."

He led them to the parlour.

When the guards bowed and opened the door, they saw that almost all of the royal family members were gathered in the parlour.

"Mother, Father." Wilson greeted.

"Son." Melvin nodded.

"Hmph!" Melissa turned her face away with displeasure.

"Mother, Father." Catherine greeted.

"You’ve arrived, Catherine. I pray you had a smooth journey?" Melvin responded.

"Come sit with Rowaine and I." Melissa said, patting her other side.

"Grandmother, grandfather." Aristia and Alaric greeted.

"Tia, Allie! My beloved grandchildren. Come, let grandmother hold you." Melissa said, spreading her arms.

"How are you?" Melvin asked.

"Good, grandfather."

Wilson, watching the entire scene play out.

"...!"

Alright, why was the treatment so widely different?

Fedor patted his back harshly at that moment, passing him a smirk before going to take a seat.

Wilson glared at his back, sighed and went to seat himself.

Serina pulled Aristia to sit between herself and Beatrix as soon as Melissa released her from her hold.

The family talked, asking about how the other was.

Finally, it was the time everyone had been waiting for.

Fedor cleared his throat.

"Tia, I heard you manifested a daemon."

Aristia looked at him, then nodded.

"Uncle’s right."

"Can we see your daemon?" Melvin asked, though it wasn’t quite a question. His expression remained normal because he hadn’t found out today.

He had already gotten used to the fact that his granddaughter had manifested a daemon and partially broke the chains in just the span of a month.

His granddaughter had a daemon. Really, she was really full of surprises.

"Okay. Millie." Aristia nodded, then called.

Under everyone’s eyes, a bird flew in through the open window, its wings flapping twice.

The eyes of the royal children widened.

That wasn’t Millie! Millie was supposed to be a fox!

Before they could say anything, the bird flew lower to the ground and transformed before it could touch the ground into a cat, landing in Aristia’s arms.

"Gasp!"

A series of gasps rang out in the room.

Everyone’s face literally screamed, ’what the hell just happened!’ freēwēbηovel.c૦m

’This is my family, Millie.’ Aristia said.

’They look very surprised to see me.’ Millie replied.

"Did your daemon just... change forms?" Melvin asked quietly.

"Yes, grandpa."

With Aristia’s confirmation, the parlour again fell silent.

Everyone couldn’t help but turn to the calm parents.

No. From their reaction, it was clear they already knew this.

"You’re all aware." Fedor said.

They had only found out that she had a daemon weeks ago, then found out she had partially broken the chains the previous day when the children returned to the palace.

But they hadn’t heard anything about the daemon being able to change forms.

This only meant that the children hadn’t seen her daemon change forms and hadn’t been told.

But they all understood.

Wilson probably wanted everyone to find out when they arrived at the palace.

"How... is this possible?" Fedor muttered to himself. He turned to Wilson.

"I don’t know either, brother." Wilson shook his head, his face serious.

Fedor and Melvin struggled to regain their composure, still reeling from the explosive discovery.

"But this has to be kept secret. That Tia has a daemon and that her daemon can change forms." Wilson continued, his eyes stopping on each one of them, even the children.

One by one, they all nodded, understanding the importance of keeping it secret. None of them wanted to risk Aristia being in danger.

They kept staring at the fox, not able to forget that it had first appeared as a bird.

That made Rowaine ask.

"So, can it change into another form?" The queen asked.

"Yes. It usually changes to a cat. But I haven’t seen Millie change into another form." Aristia shook her head at the end.

Okay. So the daemon could change into a bird, a fox and a cat. But they didn’t know if it was limited to that or if it could take on other forms.

Nevertheless, just the fact it could change its form was already amazing enough.

Fedor cleared his throat.

"We’ll look into this," he said.

Because it wasn’t normal.

Yes, it was amazing, but it wasn’t something that had happened before. They would have to look into it.

"When Tia fainted before she manifested her daemon, I asked that...person to come back, but he refused." Wilson’s brows twitched in annoyance. It was clear he wanted to use a not-so-gentle word to describe that person, but because the children were present, he had to change it to ’person’.

Obviously, the adults knew who he was talking about.

Only that person could ignore Wilson even if it was obvious that Wilson wasn’t playing.

"He should be back soon." Fedor said with slight amusement.

"Maybe. Anything can blow him away for a long time." Wilson muttered.

It was obvious that the adults still had a lot to say. They subtly asked the children to leave.

Ivan immediately caught on, and he said to Aristia.

"Now that you’re here, Millie can form a link with Shadow." He said. "Let’s go meet Shadow."
