Chapter 400: Turbulence is thinning

[Your comprehension defies the Heavens! By observing the Source Codex of the Chaos Emperor, you have gained insight into the ’Chaos Source’.]

[Your understanding of the 5th Rank of the Nexus Path has been strengthened and reformed.]

As profound insight surged through his mind, the Chaotic Lotus completely devoured the massive construct.

The turbulence shuddered violently, and in the very next moment, Grey was forcefully ejected from the chaotic expanse.

Seeing him emerge, Eterna immediately took manual control of the ship and shot towards his position.

Grey was still entirely engrossed in the residual image of the impossible construct he had just witnessed.

It was the Source Codex of a so-called Chaos Emperor.

And the Chaotic Lotus, having sensed its profound existence, immediately began to devour it without hesitation.

The construct was terrifyingly powerful. Grey was absolutely certain that this fragmented entity could devour this entire plane of existence if it ever fully awakened.

And beyond its sheer destructive nature, it was practically overflowing with all sorts of cosmic treasures.

As he descended his mental perception into the Chaotic Lotus, he realized that his comprehension over the Myriad Laws of Chaos and every other law he held was skyrocketing all at once.

Just by merely looking at it!

Grey was completely stunned.

And now that the Chaotic Lotus had swallowed it whole, it seemed to be undergoing some sort of deep assimilation process.

Was this ancient Chaos Emperor somehow related to the Chaotic Lotus?

However, Grey swiftly denied that logical outcome.

If they were truly related and intrinsically connected, then he would not have been able to independently comprehend anything from observing that twelfth-dimensional construct just now.

The Chaotic Lotus was simply so high up in the cosmic hierarchy that it allowed him to comprehend anything and everything.

Well, everything aside from the Grand Daos.

It was quite strange. Not only were they seemingly scared of him, but he could not comprehend them either. He genuinely wondered what the real reason was.

Because, at this point, he knew it was not due to his own lack of existential weight. After all, he could casually comprehend a twelfth-dimensional construct.

And most importantly, the most transformative aspect was the fact that he had gained entirely new insights into the 5th Rank of his unique Nexus path. He wanted to immediately test his theories to see if they were actually plausible or not.

"Are you alright?" Eterna docked the ship and asked, her voice laced with genuine concern.

"I am fine," Grey said as he snapped out of his deep thoughts. "I felt like I sensed something in there, but it was just a false call."

"You should not be this reckless." Eterna’s eyes flickered with rapid calculations as she spoke in her usual tone of cool indifference. "Even if you came out fine this time, remember that this was the exact same phenomenon that broke my main consciousness apart."

Grey fell silent upon hearing this.

He finally knew exactly why her consciousness had shattered.

She had likely come into direct contact with the Chaos Source Codex and split apart under its overwhelming presence by completely overloading her processing capacity.

The anomaly almost got to him as well, but the Chaotic Lotus saved his life in the absolute nick of time.

The mortal world they lived in was a basic three-dimensional space, and the Source Codex was a twelfth-dimensional construct. Just the thought of it alone sent a freezing chill down Grey’s spine.

He had severely underestimated the peak powers of a true Evolver and the sheer scale of the cosmos. For now, the best course of action was to keep the truth of this matter a secret from Eterna.

The most important thing right now was studying the codex and unearthing its mysteries. One thing Grey understood clearly was that this object was an absolute treasure trove. It contained vast oceans of information. If he could decode the twelve-dimensional structure bit by bit, he could claim it all for himself.

He already had a general understanding of the source codex. It was the absolute origin of the Chaos Emperor. In simpler terms, it was his foundation. From the moment the Emperor broke through the fifth genetic limiter to become a Fifth Ranker, everything he possessed was tied to this source, and it evolved right alongside him.

It evolved to the terrifying extent that his source codex became a twelfth-dimensional construct. The concept alone was unimaginable.

But with this revelation, Grey’s own path forward had been blown wide open. A prototype for his Fifth Rank breakthrough had already formed in his mind. Now, only one thing remained. He had to test if it was actually plausible.

If he could successfully combine the innate abilities of a source with his Origin Core, the results would be absolutely heaven-defying.

Just as he finished his silent musings, the spatial turbulence outside the ship began to stir violently.

"Hm?" Eterna immediately noticed the commotion.

Her calculation modules flared to life as she rapidly scanned the chaotic energy outside. A second later, she arrived at a startling conclusion.

"It is thinning?!" Eterna blurted out, her guard instantly rising.

She whipped her head toward Grey, only to find him standing there completely calm.

"Grey, what did you do?" she asked, a genuinely dumbfounded look spreading across her face.

"I did not do anything. Maybe the turbulence just got scared of me?" Grey casually shrugged his shoulders.

After all, this was not the first time higher concepts had recoiled in fear of his existence.

But from his own observations, Grey understood the truth. With the Chaos Source Codex gone, the turbulence had lost its anchor. If his calculations were correct, the chaotic energy would completely vanish within a few weeks, or perhaps a month or two.

This was not a simple cloud of smoke trapped in a room. This spatial turbulence blanketed an entire galaxy. It would definitely take time for the energy to fully disperse and for the fabric of space to stabilize enough for them to cross over to the other side.

But that timeline was perfect. During that waiting period, he would focus on establishing a firm foothold for himself in this new galaxy.
