Nightblade (Darkest night)-Chapter 201: Culprit
The Talented boy was undoubtedly gone.
Just like that.
Lucian slowly floated to the ground with Keila’s unconscious figure in his arms.
He stared at the destructive vortex with a bleak expression.
He slowly rubbed his cheek, then his eyes.
"I’m...crying?"
Hot tears silently streamed down his face.
A dark streak blurred past them disappearing into the vortex.
Lucian turned searching for Morgan.
More violent explosions ravaged the city.
The cracks from the dome started mending themselves.
In the midst of the chaos, Morgan swayed, getting to his feet.
" We need to move now!"
Kazarax turned, raising his hands, then slammed them together, creating a harrowing explosion that ripped through the rolling wave of devastation.
The horrific force tore through the typhoon, then Talented’s wall of wind, scattering the few Elementals in the air.
The typhoon slammed into the dark gates flinging them open for a brief moment.
Morgan gasped peering into the inner city’s sanctum. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
" Elementals!"
The Wind Elementals quickly rallied, forming a united front once more, taking control of the rampaging wind and pushing away the wave of devastation.
A wave of chilling frost swept over the rushing waves of water.
Emily stood at the front line with the Elementals, her eyes glowing with brilliant green light.
Her dark hair fluttered wildly from the violent gusts of residual wind from the typhoon.
A tide of ice swept forward freezing the water into one massive plain of sight.
She screamed, unleashing every ounce of power she had.
The Biological type, Takented, morphed into giant muscular beasts, working together and hurling debris to the side with the help of the Neural type with Telekinetic abilities.
On the other side of the water channel, Morgan weakly fell to one knee, spitting out a mouthful of blood.
’Ah, this really sucks. ’
Blood streamed from his mouth, nose, and eyes in a truly horrifying sight.
" Move!" He shouted pointing at the gate.
The Talented ran forward using the small moment of respite to charge forward.
Most sections of the city were utterly and completely ruined.
Azaroth was coming undone all around them from the harrowing destruction of the shockwave erupting off the dome.
"Amanda!"
Lucian shoved Kelia into Amanda’s arms.
" Take care of her!"
Amanda stared at him blankly.
"Cassius..."
Lucian shook his head, then turned, dashing back.
He vaulted over the stream of rushing Talented soaring high into the air. He gasped quickly searching for a spot to land.
" Get out of the way! He yelled.
One of the Talented quickly realized his intention.
With the activation of his ability, his eyes glowed an ethereal blue.
" Jump!"
Lucian’s eyes narrowed in confusion then widened in realization.
The aircsbove the Takented rippled then shimmered hardening into a platform.
Luxjsn smirked, leaning on the cushion of air, then jumping into the air once more and clearing the crowd.
He ran up to Morgan grasping his hand.
"We need to move now!"
At the front of the gates, the space phenomenon was already trying to take root once more.
Jazarax roared defiantly straining against the slowly regenerating runes.
" More power, I need MORE!!!"
Morgan felt something shift within him, his entire body slowly weakening eith everything breath. He coughed a second mouthful of blood, gasping for breath.
" Ah...shit."
Lucian’s eyes narrowed in realization.
"This is taking a toll on you. You’re killing yourself! You need to stop."
Morgan slowly shook his head.
" I can’t...not when qwte this close. Were almost there.
Lucian somberly stared at him.
" I can’t lose another friend today, Cassius is gone..."
He raised his hand into a fist.
Morgan quickly realized what Lucian meant to do.
" No, stop!"
"That’s enough..." a cold voice said.
Kazarax spun around in the air at the newcomer’s appearance.
"You...how...you’re here..."
A thunderous blow folded the Void Walker, punching g him out of the sky a d i to the ground below.
The Void walker dissipated in waves of flane and darkness.
Morgan felt a wave of pain flare through his entire being.
The pain wracked an agonized scream from his lips, his eyes rolling back in his head.
"A child of light and a Void Walker at that.. " the voice said in mild amusement.
"But you’re still a lightspawn..." the voice spat.
Morgan’s body spasmed in shock, twitching at intervals from time to time.
With Kazarax’s disappearance, the golden runes quickly regenerated.
The cracks in the dome swiftly mended themselves at a speed visible to the naked eye and with that, a massive ripple swept through the air.
The Talented who were already in the inner sanctum found themselves unable to move, frozen in space.
The ripple washed over Wind Elementals Types in the air as well, and a crowd of Talented rushed forward.
In that brief moment, crumbling buildings repaired themselves, the frozen water cracked, then rapidly melted at a visible speed, flowing back into the water channel.
The giant blocks of debris floated up into the air in a storm of dust, reattaching themselves to the recovering buildings.
The damaged runes at the edge of the bank slowly repaired themselves, the white fire within them fizzling out with Kazarax’s disappearance.
Time seemed to slow in reverse as the wave of charging Talented moved backwards, the fires dissipated, and the massive dark gates swung shut.
Lucian watched in stunned disbelief standing beside Morgan, frozen in place, unable to do anything.
He mentally screamed, willing his body to move, to jump, to fight, but to no avail.
All their efforts, everything they’d worked for up to that point, were gone in the time it took them to blink.
All their efforts were undone.
All by a single creature.
Lucian’s face was frozen in a vivid expression of shock and horror, but deep within him, a well of rage frothed and boiled over.
Beside him, Morgan lay bruised and battered and on the brink of unconsciousness, possibly death.
Cassius was gone. And yet they hadn’t achieved anything despite being so close.
So very close.
In that moment, a change occurred.
In the air above them, a figure slowly materialized into existence.
First, two long, dark, tenebrous horns appeared, sprouting from thin air.
Then a pale face, with glowing crimson irises and dark eyes that shone in the pale light.
Slowly, the rest of the being’s body began to come into view.
Dark obsidian armor covered his entire body, slowly enveloping its entirety.
Dark gauntlets with jagged spikes covered its arms, and a pitch black breast plate bloomed into existence covering its torso.
The creature’s billowing dark hair gently swayed in the wind.
The being’s gaze coldly swept over the frozen youth with a displeased expression.
He slowly raised his hand then casually flicked it.
Suddenly every person was able to move.
The placid waters of the water channel slowly flowed forces once more.
The Talented stared up at the floating figure in shock and disbelief.
The creature silently stared down at them.
In the next moment it materialized on the ground standing before them. The whole group warily shifted back.
The creature glanced at them in amusement, then casually paced bsck and forth.
" When my Lord sent me here, I didn’t expect to the sanctuary in such a state of heinous disarray more so by a bunch of little rats..."
Lucian watched with barely restrained anger.
Gritting his teeth, one thing was already clear.
They stood no chance against the being thst now stood before them.
With Morgan out of the fight, there was no obevekse that coukd possibly stand up to the mysterious humanoid creature.
"Hes ignoring us because....We’re insignificant to him. We pose no threat to him."
" Which one of you did this?"
He materialized next to Lucian and Morgan.
Lucjan recoiled with a gasp, his eyes widening in shock.
"Was it the lightspawn?"
The creature had moved so fast his eyes failed to track it’s speed.
A moment later, the man disappeared appearing in front ofcEmily hoeing her a curious glance.
" Was it you?" It whispered.
" I can sense it, the mark of Asterix on you..."
It’s eyes widened slightly. The creature leaned forward caressing Emily’s cheek then gently chuckled.
" You... so fierce, so full of hatred, i can see it in your eyes..."
Pulling away, the creature sighed.
" Regardless, someone must pay for this...I do not delight in senseless killing so I’ll give a chance to step forward."
Anthony stepped forward.
" I did it."
The creature scoffed throwing him back with a casually flick of it’s wrist.
"An amusing tale, I take it... now, Jesus aside, which one of you destroyed the Fog and breached the Master’s inner sanctum... "
" Of course only two could possibly perpetrated such an act..."
" I did it..."a quiet voice said.
Lucian gasped staring at Morgan intently shock.
" When did he..."
Morgan weakly rolled on the ground then grunted getting to his feet.
Lucuan reached out for him but Morgan shoved his gabs away, slowly limping forward.
He stopped in front of the creature.
" You’re Velagrew’s envoy, right? It’s me you’re looking for."
