The Imperial Tomb was located outside the Capital. No one could have ever expected a secret passage inside the royal palace that led directly to it, let alone that it was hidden right under the Dragon Throne!

However, as the group ventured deeper, they quickly put the passage's location out of their minds. Everyone's expressions grew tense. Something felt wrong. Although there was nothing visible, many felt the hair on their bodies stand on end. The tunnel was suffused with an utterly eerie atmosphere.

Soon, some began to regret their decision. They had come well-prepared, but upon entering, they immediately realized they had overestimated their own abilities. They were still a long way from the true Imperial Tomb—not quite a million miles away, but far nonetheless. If we feel this way so soon, what will it be like deeper inside?

"Everyone, moving forward is the only way out now. Take care of yourselves," the Dong Cang King's voice suddenly rang out.

When everyone looked ahead, there was no sign of him. Immediately, someone turned on Ning Xuan.

"Ning Xuan, where is he?"

Ning Xuan just shrugged. "How would I know?"

"You were closest to him! You couldn't even keep an eye on him, what are you good for?!"

Ning Xuan still smiled. "You weren't far from him either, were you?"

He could have intervened, but the man hadn't even reached the Fifth-Layer Heavens of the King Realm. Forget it, I can't be bothered.

If this man knew what Ning Xuan was thinking, he would likely cough up blood from pure rage. He was at the Fourth-Layer Heavens of the King Realm, the strongest in his family aside from the patriarch and the Great Elders. And yet, Ning Xuan found him beneath his notice. What an outrageous insult!

"Are you three alright?" Ning Xuan asked the women with concern, even as he was retorting.

After seeing them shake their heads, he reminded them, "If you feel any discomfort at all, you must tell me immediately! This place isn't normal!"

Hearing the gravity in his voice, they all nodded. Just then, however, Yun Wangshu frowned.

"Young Master Ning, how about we travel together?"

It was Yuan Yurong's voice. She had appeared behind them without anyone noticing. Yun Wangshu already disliked her for the teasing remark she'd made to Ning Xuan earlier. This girl is young but full of schemes. I don't like her. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

"You are the Saintess of Su Yue Zhuai, and you seem to be leading them this time," Yun Wangshu said coolly, her gaze sweeping over the Su Yue Zhuai disciples behind Yuan Yurong. "Is it really alright for you to abandon them like this?"

"It's fine. They can protect themselves," Yuan Yurong said with a smile.

In truth, she felt helpless as well. It wasn't just Si Lanyi who had come from the Dao Xuan Institute; several other masters were with her. But somehow, Si Lanyi had convinced the others to willingly stay outside. Yuan Yurong had tried to do the same with her own people, but they wouldn't listen. Given the circumstances, she had to make other plans.

Hearing the two women, Ning Xuan couldn't help but glance back. He was met with the unfriendly gazes of several masters from Su Yue Zhuai. This didn't surprise him at all. Their own Saintess trusts an outsider more than she trusts them. If it were me, I'd have exploded by now. After all, it's utterly humiliating!

Therefore, Ning Xuan couldn't help but exclaim, "You all from Su Yue Zhuai truly have wonderful tempers!"

Behind them, the faces of the Su Yue Zhuai experts all darkened. Wonderful my ass! If this place weren't so strange and you weren't sticking your neck out, we would've taken you down already! Damn it! This bastard is so infuriating! If the First Human Emperor really does revive, I hope he swallows this guy whole first!

Yuan Yurong's smile faltered for a second. But seeing that Ning Xuan didn't seem to be sarcastic, she smiled along and asked, "By the way, Young Master Ning, have you entered the King Realm?"

Quite a few people pricked up their ears. Their senses could sometimes be deceiving. They hoped to get a direct answer from Ning Xuan himself.

Before Ning Xuan could even speak, the kiddo started to show off.

"Yes, he has! Let me tell you, just now on the Flying Boat, my Junior Brother didn't do anything at all, and boom, he entered the King Realm! It was Sister Yun who had to point it out before my silly Junior Brother even realized."

Damn, damn, damn! Hearing this, the entire group felt their composure crumble. He did nothing at all and just entered the King Realm? And he needed someone else to point it out? Is that even something a human is capable of?!

After a long moment, Yuan Yurong finally managed to say, "Impressive." Then she turned to the kiddo. "If your Junior Brother is silly, then what does that make the rest of us? If he's silly, there are no smart people left in this world!"

"Dumb donkeys, of course," the kiddo's crisp voice cut through the silence, sounding particularly grating.

"What?" Yuan Yurong asked, a little stunned.

The kiddo explained, "My Junior Brother is silly. If you're sillier than him, then you're dumb donkeys."

Yuan Yurong was speechless. So was everyone else. Her logic was flawless; they couldn't refute it.

"You're right," Yuan Yurong said, her resolve strengthening. She immediately gave an affirmative reply, "I am a big dumb donkey!"

The kiddo's beautiful eyes went wide. "My silly Junior Brother was right! You people from Su Yue Zhuai really do have great tempers!" She had expected the other woman to get angry. Instead, she was laughing and agreeing.

Yuan Yurong was left speechless. The absolute nerve... I really must thank you for the compliment!

"Don't move!" Ning Xuan suddenly stopped.

The three women with him instinctively paused, as did the others. But a moment later, mockery began to bubble up.

"Heh, we're still a long way from the Imperial Tomb!"

"Exactly! There's nothing here!"

After carefully checking their surroundings and confirming there was no danger, some of them started to laugh at Ning Xuan. He didn't respond, merely gesturing for them to proceed. The faces of those who had mocked him changed, and they hesitated.

"Weren't you all so brave a moment ago? Go on, then," Si Lanyi's voice rang out. Although she couldn't sense anything either, and it had been a long time since she had last seen Ning Xuan, she still trusted his judgment unconditionally.

After Si Lanyi's sharp remark, the two men's faces flushed red and pale. "Fine, we'll go!" one of them snapped.

They scanned the area again, and after confirming there was no danger for the third time, they cautiously took a step forward. Everyone's eyes were fixed on them.

The two took a step. Nothing happened.

"Hahaha, this is hilarious!"

"Us, dumb donkeys?! We're the dumb donkeys?!"

The two became incredibly arrogant, shooting provocative looks at Ning Xuan. He didn't respond, instead taking another step back.

"Scared? Don't worry, we'll just—"

Before he could finish his sentence, both men vanished.

There were no screams. No ripples in the fabric of space. They simply evaporated into thin air, as if they had never been there at all.

Everyone was stunned. Then, they looked at Ning Xuan with eyes full of awe.

If Ning Xuan hadn't warned us, we all would have fallen into that trap! How did he even notice?

They all desperately wanted to ask, but none dared. Yuan Yurong, however, had no such reservations. "What just happened?!"
