Noble Pampering: Demon CEO's Relentless Entanglement-Chapter 672 - 668 President Land, Can You Really Afford to Lose? (Part 2)
"Can’t handle losing?" Asher Land’s lips curled into a playful smile, "Not really."
"Isn’t that good then?" Eva Miller beamed, "Come on, let’s keep playing. Sophie, you don’t have to worry about losing money; your sponsor is sitting right next to you."
Eva deftly shuffled and dealt the cards. Sophie picked up her hand and looked at it...
She scrutinized it for a long time but couldn’t make heads or tails of it.
Asher chuckled softly. This woman had an excellent hand, yet she hadn’t realized it.
His slender hand reached over her shoulder, appearing in front of her, and simply rearranged a few cards. Only then did Sophie come to a sudden realization.
"Oh, so that’s how it is." She smiled faintly, casting Asher a grateful glance.
"Hey, hey, hey, that’s not allowed!" Eva noticed that under Asher’s guidance as a ’tactician’, Sophie seemed to have improved a lot, which made her uneasy. If Sophie could play cards now, how was Eva supposed to win money?
"Why don’t you get a sponsor too?" Asher joked.
Could she really?
Eva looked around and instantly realized who Asher’s ’sponsor’ referred to.
"Luke, will you help me?" Pride was something Eva could easily overlook. Why not let someone else foot the bill if they could?
"Of course."
Similarly, for Luke, pride was a non-issue. Even though Eva had once berated him harshly, now that she needed him, he eagerly joined.
Thus, the final card game became a battlefield for the three Land brothers.
They played the cards, they funded the game.
The card skills of the three brothers were evenly matched. Sophie was responsible for drawing cards, while Asher seemingly played casually but concealed his true intentions. Their cooperation was flawless, and gradually, they took control of the game.
"Oh dear, what’s going on!" Eva watched Luke keep sending money to Asher and Sophie and couldn’t help but frown.
"What’s wrong? Little Chili, you’re worried about me?" Luke’s narcissism reached an incomprehensible level. Eva silently complained, wondering which eyes of his saw her pitying him? She just felt for his money, since a loss was his to bear, and a win was hers to keep. But with Luke repeatedly losing to Asher, how could she earn anything?
"Luke, I want you to win!" Eva pouted.
"Win? I’d like that too, but I can’t. With the way third brother and Sophie are working together so well, how could I possibly win?" Luke deliberately sighed, "If, if we cooperate too, maybe we might actually win some money later."
"Cooperate? How?" Eva shushed him, "I think your card skills are lousy to the core. Stop making excuses for yourself."
"Do you want to give it a try?" Luke asked with interest.
Try? How exactly would that work?
Luke signaled to Asher with his eyes, and the tacit understanding between the brothers was perfectly honed.
Asher naturally wanted to lend Luke a hand but didn’t dare to do so openly. If Sophie found out, it would be awkward for him, as he had promised her he would keep his second brother in check.
At this point, Luke was, after all, his second brother, so giving him a covert helping hand was justifiable.
