Not Being a Trainer This Time-Chapter 620 - 338: Horse Racing!
League Calendar Year 199, March 25th, the horse racing festival officially began.
Early in the morning, Naoki brought a few Pokemon and Alder to the venue.
Though it was still early, by the time Naoki arrived, quite a few people and Pokemon had already gathered on the field.
Trainers passing by like Ash, students wearing Paldea Academy uniforms, townsfolk here to watch, and so on.
The field was brightly decorated and bustling with excitement.
A banner hung at the entrance read "Porto Marinada Town Spring Horse Racing Festival," with stalls selling race coupons not far away, and behind them, a variety of small prizes and items, all exchangeable with the coupons.
Seeing this scene, Alder couldn’t help but exclaim, "Wow! It’s really lively here!"
Naoki nodded with a smile, "Yeah! The horse racing festival here in Porto Marinada Town is quite famous, attracting many trainers to participate every year around this time."
This event is akin to the bug-catching contests held in small towns.
"It’s a pity, if only I had a horse-type Pokemon by my side, I’d want to sign up and give it a try!" Alder lamented with a look of regret.
Naoki recalled the Pokemon Alder had.
Accelgor, Bouffalant, Druddigon, Vanilluxe, Escavalier, Volcarona.
It’s a shame there’s no cow racing, or Alder could participate riding his Bouffalant.
"Bonny..."
Following beside Naoki, Ogerpon looked timidly at the people around.
Naoki patted its head, soothingly said, "Don’t be afraid, no one here dislikes you."
No sooner had he finished speaking than several young trainers, intrigued by the never-before-seen Pokemon Koraidon and Ogerpon, approached them.
"Wow! A never-seen-before Pokemon!"
One of the trainers took out a Pokedex to scan it, only to receive a response indicating no related data in the Pokedex.
Another trainer scanned the Pawmo with a red cape floating in mid-air, and the Pokedex provided an introduction:
"Pawmot, the Hand Press Pokemon. Although usually slow in movement, when compelled to face battle, it defeats enemies with lightning speed. Its fluffy fur serves as a battery, capable of storing electricity equivalent to an electric vehicle."
"Pawmot?!" the trainer exclaimed in surprise.
He looked wide-eyed with astonishment at the Pokemon before him, so different from his previous impression.
Its pink fur, silver metal hammers, and bright red cape bestowed a dashing presence...
Could this truly be the Pawmot he knew?!
More importantly, it was actually flying... how is that possible?!
Noticing the astonished and puzzled gaze from the other side, Pawmot greeted them warmly:
"Bamo~"
Then it clenched its fists and soared into the sky like a superhero.
"So impressive!!!"
The two trainers, who hadn’t witnessed such a scene, exclaimed in excitement.
"Sir, are you the trainer of these Pokemon?" the young man on the left asked admiringly.
Naoki nodded slightly, "That’s right, this one is Koraidon, and this one is Ogerpon, a Grass-type Pokemon."
"Koraidon?"
"Ogerpon?"
The youth murmured the names of the two Pokemon.
They looked at the tall Pokemon with a crimson body and a strong muscular physique.
Koraidon stared back fiercely.
The aura of the fierce beast suddenly spread, startling the two young men.
"What a frightening Pokemon!"
Naoki was somewhat puzzled, glanced at Koraidon, and reached out to it.
Koraidon immediately approached obediently, like a big dog.
"Agah sis~"
"Not scary at all!" Naoki remarked.
The youngsters swallowed nervously, thinking that the Pokemon’s gaze at them just now was different...
Alder, standing aside, tried hard to stifle his laughter but eventually couldn’t help it and burst out laughing.
"Hahahahaha!"
Koraidon is such an amusing Pokemon!
The young trainers, too scared to look at Koraidon, turned their attention to Ogerpon.
Detecting their gaze, Ogerpon hid behind Naoki.
Naoki asked, "Do you find this Pokemon scary?"
The two youths shook their heads vigorously, "Not scary at all."
"You’re not afraid of it?" Naoki asked again.
The young trainers hesitated, sensing the man was confirming something with them.
One of them asked curiously, "Why should we be afraid?"
With a smile, Naoki said, "Nothing, Ogerpon, did you hear? No one is afraid of you or dislikes you."
"Bonny..." Ogerpon looked around at the lively crowd, feeling a warm surge within, and happily bounced twice, "Bonny!"
The two young trainers felt a stirring within, "Sir, could you have a Pokemon battle with us?"
Naoki glanced at the people registering there. As he arrived early and there was still a while before the festival began, he decided to entertain these trainers first.
When Naoki asked which Pokemon they wished to battle against, both chose Koraidon.
For no other reason than it looked powerful, and battling it would surely be thrilling!
