Obsessed with a High-Ranking Esper (BL)-Chapter 252: Jian Ci’s true colours
Just then, the reinforced door burst inward, not with a bang, but with a silent, violent expulsion of violet psychic energy. It was instantly ripped from its frame. Jian Ci stood silhouetted in the doorway, his eyes blazing with an unnerving purple glow.
Gael, caught mid-sentence trying to get Yu Xi in bed was startled. "What the hell...?"
He knew of Jian Ci but Gael had never met him face-to-face. Jian Rui protected him like he was a precious egg.
Jian Ci’s gaze snapped to Yu Xi. A flicker of... something unreadable crossed Yu Xi’s face before being quickly masked.
Then Jian Ci’s eyes narrowed, locking onto Gael’s hand, which had been resting, perhaps a bit too casually, on Yu Xi’s sleeve. A vein throbbed in Jian Ci’s temple.
Before anyone could react, Jian Ci moved with inhuman speed. He seized Gael’s hand, the offending hand, in a grip that felt like a vise. A sickening crack echoed through the room. Gael screamed, a high-pitched, desperate sound that was quickly stifled.
Jian Ci’s eyes never left Yu Xi. "He touched you," Jian Ci said, his voice a low, dangerous purr. It wasn’t a question. He didn’t wait for a response. With a brutal sweep of his arm, he sent a nearby glass-topped coffee table crashing to the floor. Shards exploded outward.
He then grabbed Gael by the back of his head, forcing his face down into the glittering wreckage. Gael thrashed, his muffled screams punctuated by the crunch of glass against bone. Blood bloomed on the pristine white carpet, staining it a horrifying crimson.
Jian Ci’s hand tightened on Gael’s head. He pulled a sleek, matte-black plasma pistol from his belt, a whisper of movement. The cold metal pressed against Gael’s temple. Gael, eyes wide with terror, tried to speak, but only a gurgled sound escaped his blood-filled mouth.
"Say another word," Jian Ci hissed, his voice barely a whisper, "and I will burn your brain out before you can even blink." The violet glow around him intensified, bathing the room in an unsettling light. Yu Xi remained standing there, his expression unreadable, a storm brewing behind his own eyes. The silence was thick, heavy with the promise of further violence, the air heavy with the scent of blood.
Jian Ci snarled, "I am not my older brother. I will kill you and ask questions later, do you fucking understand?"
The thought of Gael’s touch on Yu Xi still made his stomach clench, a nauseating cocktail of possessiveness and pure rage. He pressed down harder. Gael gasped, a strangled sound.
"Same deal as before," Jian Ci continued, his voice dangerously low. "And you will give him twenty-five percent more of the crystals as compensation."
Gael choked, "Th-that would bankrupt me!"
Jian Ci’s smile was chilling, devoid of any warmth. "I have something even better that will put you out of business." He used voice command and floating screens shimmered into existence around them, bathing the room in an eerie glow. They displayed Gael’s meticulously hidden dealings, shady trades, exploited workers and bribes paid to corrupt officials. It was a lifetime of carefully constructed villainy laid bare.
Gael’s eyes darted across the screens, his face draining of color. Terror replaced the arrogance he had worn just moments before.
"Not only will it ruin you," Jian Ci hissed, "but your entire ancestry’s legacy. Tsk, I wonder how you will face them in the underworld?" He relished the shudder that ran through Gael’s body. He wanted Gael to understand the depth of his offence.
"Do we have an agreement?" Jian Ci demanded, his voice a silken threat.
Gael, finally broken, stammered, "I agree! I agree!"
Jian Ci released him abruptly, then kicked him with brutal force. Gael crumpled to the floor, groaning in agony.
He turned to Yu Xi, who had watched the entire scene with an unnervingly detached expression. The adrenaline was fading, leaving a residue of guilt and awkwardness. "Are you okay?" Jian Ci asked, hating how uncertain he sounded.
Yu Xi raised an eyebrow. "Do I look like I am in distress?"
Jian Ci pursed his lips, feeling a familiar wave of frustration. He had rushed in, fueled by instinct, and now he felt like an idiot.
Yu Xi simply stated, "We are done here." He turned and walked towards the exit, leaving Jian Ci standing alone amidst the wreckage, his anger slowly morphing into something akin to shame.
Yu Xi turned without hesitation, his stride smooth and deliberate as he walked out. Jian Ci’s glare burned into Gael, his voice low and lethal. "If you dare to even think about him, I will hunt you down and kill you."
Gael froze, his mouth opening and closing. "I—I—I wouldn’t dare," he stammered, his bravado shattered.
Jian Ci didn’t spare him another glance. He stormed out, his focus locked on Yu Xi. But by the time he reached the hall, Yu Xi was already stepping into the elevator, the doors sliding shut with a finality that made Jian Ci’s chest tighten.
Is he angry? Jian Ci thought, panic flickering through him. He jabbed at the other elevator controls, but the car was several floors down. "Shit," he swore, and without hesitation, he bolted for the stairs.
His psychic power surged, propelling him faster than human speed. By the time he reached the parking bay, his breath was steady, his body thrumming with energy. He had arrived before the elevator.
Moments later, the doors opened with a soft chime. Yu Xi stepped out, flanked by the men who had followed him inside. His presence was commanding, his aura sharp and intimidating. Yet in Jian Ci’s eyes, he was something else entirely. He was seductive and entrancing, a spell he couldn’t resist.
Jian Ci swallowed hard, his voice breaking the silence. "You mad at me?"
Yu Xi’s gaze flicked to him, calm and unreadable. "No."
Jian Ci’s nonexistent tail, drooping moments before, wagged in invisible joy. His face lit up. "Really?" he asked, visibly happy.
"Then why did you leave me behind?" he pressed, his tone almost childlike in its need.
Yu Xi’s lips curved faintly. "I knew you would catch up."
With that, Yu Xi tossed the plasma gun at him. Jian Ci caught it clumsily, staring at the weapon in a daze, his mind reeling.
