Odyssey Of Survival-Chapter 140 - Alice’s Strength
The three girls stood firm, their bodies tense, their gazes locked onto the towering Gorvak before them, watching as it emitted a guttural, unnatural sound that echoed through the forest, sending shivers through the trees as it began to move, its heavy footfalls thundering against the ground with a speed that contradicted its hulking frame.
Bella, her breathing steady but her mind racing, wasted no time as she lifted a hand, her fingers tightening in the air as she attempted to halt the creature in its tracks with her telekinesis, her power surging out in an invisible force, wrapping around the Gorvak's form like unseen chains meant to hold it in place. For a split second, it froze mid-stride, its movement stalling just enough to make her believe she had succeeded—but then, in a way that sent a chill racing down her spine, it broke free.
A sharp, sickening snap rang out as its body forced its way through the hold of her power, as if it had simply shrugged off a weak restraint. Bella's eyes widened, her breath catching in her throat, her mind struggling to comprehend what had just happened. Never before had anything—anything—managed to break free of her telekinetic grasp so easily.
She barely had time to recover from the shock before Alice stepped forward, placing herself between Bella and the fast-approaching Gorvak. Without hesitation, she summoned a sword of pure ice into existence, its crystalline surface glowing under the dim light as she swung it in a fluid arc. As the blade cut through the air, jagged ice spikes erupted from its edge, shooting toward the Gorvak like spears made of frozen death.
But then, something happened that neither she nor the others had anticipated.
The Gorvak, rather than dodging or even showing the slightest hint of hesitation, charged straight through the barrage as if the ice spikes were nothing more than fragile twigs scattered in its path. Each spike that made contact with its body shattered on impact, exploding into countless shards that glittered momentarily before fading into nothingness.
Alice barely had a second to react as the beast came crashing toward her. With no time to think, she raised an ice wall between herself and the Gorvak, but the creature didn't even slow down.
BOOM!

A deafening crack split the air as the Gorvak's fist collided with the ice wall, the sheer force of its strike obliterating the barrier into countless shards that sprayed outward like tiny frozen daggers. The impact sent a shockwave of force crashing into Alice's body, her feet leaving the ground as she was flung backward like a ragdoll.
Her back slammed into a tree with a force that rattled her entire frame, knocking the breath from her lungs as pain shot through her spine. She hit the ground hard, rolling once before quickly pushing herself back up, her muscles screaming in protest as she lifted her gaze toward the Gorvak, which was now shifting its attention toward Madison and Bella.
Madison, seeing the way it tore through Alice's attacks, didn't hesitate. She reached for her bow, fingers wrapping around its smooth, glowing surface as she pulled back on the string. The moment she released it, a single blazing arrow of energy shot forward, cutting through the air toward the beast.
But the Gorvak was fast. Too fast.
It shifted its massive body at the last second, dodging the arrow with inhuman precision, but just as it did, its instincts screamed at it—a warning that danger was still present.
Before it could fully react, two more arrows erupted from thin air, emerging through a rippling purple distortion that had formed right beside its body, appearing far too close for it to evade.
One arrow found its mark, slicing through the Gorvak's thick hide and embedding deep into its flesh, while the other narrowly missed as it jerked its body to the side.
A shriek tore from its throat, its massive hand jerking up to clutch at the wound. It looked down, expecting to see the arrow still lodged there, but to its shock and growing fury, there was nothing left but a ghastly, open wound, the energy-infused arrow having already dissolved after delivering its damage.
Its shriek turned into a furious roar, its eyes blazing with raw aggression as it locked onto Madison, the source of its pain. In an instant, it surged forward, its massive form moving with terrifying speed as it bore down on her.
Madison, refusing to falter, notched another arrow, her fingers tightening around the string as she prepared to release—but this time, the Gorvak wasn't falling for her tricks. It had already learned from its mistake, and now it was closing the distance far too quickly.
The moment Alice sensed the Gorvak preparing to strike, her voice rang out, sharp and commanding.
"Move back!" she shouted.
Madison and Bella reacted instantly, retreating without hesitation as Alice stepped forward to take their place. But something was different this time. The very air around her seemed to shift, a wave of chilling energy radiating outward as if the temperature itself had plummeted in an instant.
Madison's eyes narrowed as she took in Alice's transformation.
Just moments ago, Alice had been holding back, suppressing her power, restraining herself. But now? Now, that restraint was gone.
Her hand rose slowly, and in an instant, a new sword of ice materialized in her grip.
Unlike the previous ones she had conjured, this one was different—stronger, sharper, more refined. A cold, eerie glow pulsed from the blade, casting flickering reflections across the battlefield. The energy rolling off it was suffocating, and even the Gorvak, despite its monstrous nature, hesitated for a brief second, as if it instinctively recognized the sheer danger standing before it.
Bella, standing a few steps behind, felt her breath hitch.
"What the hell just happened to Alice?" she muttered, barely able to take her eyes off her. She turned toward Madison, looking for an answer.
Madison, her face set in a determined expression, simply shook her head.
"I don't have time to explain," she said, her voice low but certain. "Just know this—Alice is strong… really strong."
Before Bella could respond, Alice moved.
One moment she was standing still, the next she was gone.
A blur of icy blue light streaked forward with blinding speed, and in the span of a heartbeat, she reappeared directly in front of the Gorvak.
The beast barely had time to react.
Alice's sword slashed through the air, aiming straight for its neck, the speed and precision of the attack nearly perfect. But in the last second, the Gorvak's reflexes saved it—it jerked its head back just in time, dodging the fatal strike by mere inches.
Alice, however, didn't falter.
With a seamless motion, she twisted her grip on the sword, rotating it with an unnatural fluidity before slamming the hilt directly into the Gorvak's chest.
A deep, guttural groan escaped the creature as the impact sent it flying backward. The sheer force of the strike left cracks in the ground where it had stood.
But Alice wasn't done.
Before the Gorvak's body could even touch the ground, she was already on top of it. She moved faster than thought, closing the distance in a blink.
And then, with a single, merciless motion, she drove her sword straight through its chest.
A sharp crack echoed through the air as the ice blade pierced through flesh and bone, impaling the creature before it could recover.
