Chapter 120: Chapter 120: What? Jealous?

I couldn’t help but press my lips together. I quickly gave Sebastian Forrest a light kick under the table, signaling for him to refuse immediately.

’If my aunt and her family latched onto him, there’s no telling how much trouble it would cause down the line.’

Sebastian Forrest turned to look at me, the corners of his lips curling into a faint, barely-there smile.

Just when I thought he understood my hint, I saw him smile and nod at my aunt. "Sure. Have Chelsea give me your daughter’s resume tomorrow."

I stared at Sebastian Forrest in utter disbelief. Panicked, I kicked his leg again, wanting him to take back what he had just said.

But Sebastian Forrest acted as if he felt nothing, giving no reaction at all. Helpless, I had no choice but to discreetly move my hand under the table and tug at the corner of his shirt...

Just then, Sebastian Forrest suddenly grabbed my hand. I looked at him, surprised, and instinctively tried to pull it back.

But Sebastian Forrest held on tight. I was afraid any big movements would be noticed by my aunt and the others, so I didn’t dare to struggle too hard. I could only let him hold my hand, and soon my palm started to sweat.

"Chelsea, why aren’t you eating? What are you doing with your hand under the table?"

At that moment, my aunt, noticing I hadn’t touched my chopsticks, asked with a puzzled look.

In a moment of desperation, I gave Sebastian Forrest’s fingers a hard pinch.

"Hiss..."

Sebastian Forrest couldn’t help but suck in a sharp breath.

Seeing everyone’s eyes snap toward Sebastian Forrest, I felt my heart nearly stop.

"Mr. Forrest, what’s wrong?"

A slight smile played on Sebastian Forrest’s lips as he rubbed the fingers I had pinched. "It’s nothing. I just scraped it on something."

"You should be careful. There must be a splinter under the table," my aunt said with a laugh.

Sebastian Forrest turned to me, a teasing smile on his face. "Perhaps."

I quickly buried my head in my food, feeling the hand Sebastian Forrest had held grow faintly hot.

I barely tasted my food for the rest of the meal.

But my aunt stubbornly kept trying to set Sasha up with Sebastian Forrest, though he didn’t take the bait at all.

When that failed, my aunt finally turned the topic to me.

"I heard from Chelsea that Mr. Forrest has been single for a while. Is there someone you like?"

The moment she said that, I subconsciously lifted my eyes to look at Sebastian Forrest.

And as if he sensed it, Sebastian Forrest turned his head to look at me.

As our eyes met, I thought I saw a ripple flash through his dark irises, but by the time I tried to get a closer look, he had already turned away.

"Yes," Sebastian Forrest nodded.

My aunt clearly hadn’t expected that answer. Seeing Sasha pouting, looking like she was about to cry, she quickly asked, "Then why aren’t you together? Does she not like you?"

That question was really crossing a line.

I couldn’t help but frown. "Aunt..."

But Sebastian Forrest just gave a slight smile, though his lips held a hint of resignation. His voice was low and deep. "Yes."

I instinctively turned to look at Sebastian Forrest, and a name suddenly surfaced in my mind—Lena Leighton.

She was the only woman ever rumored to be involved with him.

But she later went abroad to further her career and is now thriving in Hollywood, already an internationally renowned superstar.

I couldn’t help but lower my gaze, a strange, stuffy feeling welling up in my chest.

’I can’t believe there’s actually someone in this world who doesn’t like Sebastian Forrest...’

...

After dinner, Sebastian Forrest drove us home.

But after we got out of the car, I stopped him. "Senior Forrest, I need to talk to you about something."

My aunt glanced between us. "Well, you two talk then. We’ll head upstairs first."

I handed the apartment key to my aunt. Once I saw them go up in the elevator, I finally turned to Sebastian Forrest. "Senior Forrest, why did you agree to let my aunt have Sasha work as your assistant? Didn’t I tell you not to?"

Sebastian Forrest shrugged, a look of innocence on his face. "I thought you were telling me to hurry up and agree."

"..."

"Couldn’t you tell? My aunt is trying to set you up with Sasha!" I said, exasperated.

"What about it?" Sebastian Forrest looked at me with a teasing smile. "Are you jealous?"

My heart skipped a beat, and I grew flustered. "Senior Forrest!"

"Alright, I’ll stop teasing you."

Sebastian Forrest’s smile faded. "She’s your aunt, after all. She asked me directly. How could I just turn her down? Wouldn’t that be disrespectful to you?"

"But you still shouldn’t have..."

"Don’t worry. All I said was that I’d accept her resume. I’ll let the HR department handle the rest. If your cousin’s resume passes muster, that’s on her own merit. If it doesn’t..." Sebastian Forrest shrugged. "Then there’s nothing I can do."

I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. I never expected that to be his way of handling it.

I’d been worrying for nothing.

"Is that all you wanted to talk to me about?" Sebastian Forrest leaned in closer.

The light in the underground garage was dim, stretching our shadows long across the floor. It made the contours of the half of his face in shadow look even more defined, and his eyes seemed pitch-black.

I subconsciously nodded. "Yes."

"Then I have something to tell you." Sebastian Forrest took a step forward, standing right in front of me, almost completely enveloping me in his shadow. He was so close I could smell the faint scent of agarwood on him.

I looked up at him, my eyes asking what he wanted to say.

"Remember that favor you owe me?"

I paused, knowing he was talking about the time he helped me find that maid.

"Of course I remember. What do you need my help with, Senior Forrest?" I looked at him earnestly.

A smile touched Sebastian Forrest’s lips. "Come with me somewhere tomorrow."

"Where are we going?"

"You’ll know when we get there tomorrow."

I couldn’t believe he was being so mysterious. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "Why are you being so secretive?"

Sebastian Forrest looked down at me, his gaze seeming to capture mine completely. "Don’t worry, I’m not going to sell you."

I smiled. "Well, that’s a relief." 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

...

When I got back home, my aunt immediately rushed over as soon as I walked in the door.

"Chelsea, what do you think of that Mr. Forrest?"

"Senior Forrest is a great person, of course."

My aunt nodded eagerly. "Then what do you think of him and Sasha? Are they a good match?"

"..."

But my aunt continued her own analysis. "He’s your senior, so he must be a few years older than you, probably around twenty-six or twenty-seven. That makes him six or seven years older than Sasha, but that’s a good thing these days! Older men know how to dote on a woman!"

"Aunt!" I was at a loss for words. "What are you even talking about?"

"You don’t get it. Rich men these days all like younger girls. Look at Sasha—she’s pretty and young. She’s more than a good enough match for your senior... Hurry up and set them up. If it works out, your aunt will give you a big red envelope!"
