On Our Wedding Day My Husband Announced His First Love Online-Chapter 135: The Man from the Banquet Was Actually Sebastian Forrest
I hadn’t seen him in over ten days, and perhaps due to his previous serious injury, Theodore Grant looked much thinner.
"What are you doing here?" Theodore Grant hurried over, but his gaze fell on the VIP room behind me. "Are you here with... friends?"
I pursed my lips and nodded. "A company dinner."
Theodore smiled. "Me too."
"Oh..." I replied faintly.
For a moment, neither of us spoke, and the atmosphere grew a little awkward.
Just as I was thinking about finding an excuse to leave, Theodore suddenly spoke. "Is... is your ankle healed?"
I instinctively lowered my gaze. "It healed a long time ago."
Then, changing the subject, I asked, "What about you? Have you recovered from your back injury?"
"Yeah, I’m all better now." Theodore beamed, looking exceptionally happy that I had taken the initiative to ask about him.
I nodded and gestured behind me. "Well, I should..."
But before I could say I had to leave, Theodore suddenly cut me off. "Chelsea, I know I wronged you. I shouldn’t be showing my face to you again, but... can you give me a chance? A chance to pursue you..."
"Theodore," I said, my voice chilling. "We missed our chance. It’s over. Don’t be so fixated on it. Can’t we both just move on?"
Theodore frowned. "You used to be the one chasing me, so now let it be my turn to chase you, okay? And the baby... I don’t care who the biological father is. I have a low sperm count and will probably never have children of my own. I’ll treat this child as my own. Let’s start over. How about it?"
I stared at Theodore in utter disbelief. ’He’s lost his mind! How could he even say something like that?’
"Absolutely not!"
But just as I opened my mouth to refuse him, a deep voice sounded from behind me.
I instinctively turned to see Sebastian Forrest striding toward us.
"Sebastian Forrest?" Theodore’s brow furrowed. "I’m talking to Chelsea. What does this have to do with you?"
Sebastian let out a cold sneer, his words laced with a chilling frost that seemed to crackle in the air. "You have designs on my child, and you’re asking what it has to do with me?"
"What nonsense are you talking about?" Theodore scowled. "This is Chelsea’s child!"
Sebastian paid him no mind, simply grabbing my hand and pulling me toward a private room.
Theodore’s expression faltered. He instinctively reached out to stop us, but Sebastian twisted his wrist and shoved him aside.
"Sebastian Forrest, you—"
But before Theodore could finish, the door to the private room shut with a SLAM.
"This isn’t our room..."
Finding myself in a completely unfamiliar private room, I quickly turned and pointed to the left. "The room I booked is over..."
But before I could finish, Sebastian suddenly closed the distance between us. Startled by his abrupt advance, I instinctively backed away. Just as the back of my head was about to hit the door panel, he shot his hand out to cushion it.
The door panel was at my back, Sebastian Forrest in front of me.
Pinned between him and the door, just inches apart, I grew nervous and swallowed instinctively. "S-Senior Forrest... what’s wrong with you?"
Sebastian took a deep breath, as if trying to suppress something.
After a long moment, he finally raised his eyes, his gaze burning into me.
In the dimly lit room, Sebastian’s eyes seemed to glow. He stared straight at me, something stirring restlessly in their depths.
’I wasn’t a stranger to intimacy; how could I not understand what that look meant? Besides, Sebastian had confessed his feelings to me just a few days ago. His intentions couldn’t have been more obvious... And I had been acting like an ostrich with its head in the sand.’
Sebastian stared at me intently. As his Adam’s apple bobbed, my own breath caught in my chest. My throat felt hot and tight, as if I’d inhaled smoke.
"I had planned to take things slow, not to pressure you. I thought that one day, you would gradually come to accept me..."
Sebastian pressed his tongue into his cheek and let out a soft chuckle. "But I can’t just sit back while someone keeps making moves. What if he tricks you and takes you away again..."
An image of that wall of photos in the school hallway flashed through my mind—
For some reason, a wave of bitterness washed over me.
’I couldn’t even imagine what it must have been like for Sebastian, watching from the sidelines for the ten years I spent chasing Theodore.’
"Chelsea Joyce..." Sebastian’s voice was low. "I think it’s time I helped you remember something..."
’Remember?’
While I was still bewildered, I saw the eyes staring back at me darken to the color of ink.
In that instant, my breath hitched. I sensed what was coming and instinctively tried to turn my head away, but Sebastian was faster. He caught my chin and brought his lips down on mine.
My mind went blank, and I instinctively tried to push him away.
But after a brief touch, Sebastian let me push him back. He straightened up, his voice impossibly low and hoarse. "Chelsea, does that bring anything back?"
"S-Senior Forrest..." I was completely flustered, with no idea what he was trying to do.
Sebastian’s fingers slowly threaded through my hair. His hot breath was a feather-light touch against the tip of my nose, then my cheek...
"I kissed you just like this... that night."
At his words, I snapped my head up to look at him, my mind going blank for an instant.
That night...
The kiss—
The banquet?!
Suddenly, the fragmented memories rushed back like a tidal wave, threatening to drown me completely.
"You were drugged that night. I was trying to save you, but you held on so tightly... It’s my fault, too. My self-control wasn’t strong enough..."
I stared at Sebastian in utter shock, unable to believe what I was hearing.
’It was him! It was really him!’
’I’ve been terrified for days, and he knew the whole time! He never told me!’
’And that maid...’
’He must have gotten to her beforehand, that’s why she kept her mouth shut!’
’He kept everything perfectly hidden, not a single leak!’
"Chelsea, I..."
SLAP!
Before he could speak, I lifted my hand and slapped him.
The sharp sound of the slap echoed in the private room. I watched as the red imprint of my fingers appeared on Sebastian’s face.
Sebastian suddenly let out a short, humorless laugh. "I deserved that."
He turned his head to look at me. "If you’re not satisfied, you can hit me again."
"Sebastian Forrest!" I screamed, furious and frustrated.
"I’m sorry..." Sebastian’s gaze burned into mine. His eyes seemed to glisten for a moment before he suppressed it. "This was my fault. You can hit me or yell at me all you want. I won’t fight back."
By the time he finished speaking, my face was already streaked with tears.
Perhaps it was the sudden release of all the grievances I had suppressed for so long, because I finally broke down and began to wail.
