On Our Wedding Day My Husband Announced His First Love Online-Chapter 76: Do You Know Whose Child She’s Carrying?
Sebastian Forrest shook his head. "I couldn’t hear clearly..."
"But from Clara Langley’s expression at the time, it looked like she was apologizing..."
"Apologizing?"
I couldn’t help but frown. I thought about my mother, who died from a fit of rage at the wedding banquet after overhearing all those misleading things Clara Langley had said...
’What good is her apology now?’
’My mother isn’t coming back to life...’
"I’ll never forgive her!" I subconsciously clenched my fists. "And I can’t let my brother be fooled by her any longer..."
With that, I turned to look in the direction my brother had gone. "Let’s go after him, okay? There are some things I need to ask him face-to-face."
Sebastian Forrest nodded and immediately turned the car around.
But even after we’d driven a few kilometers, there was still no sign of my brother.
"He probably caught a cab."
"Senior Forrest, can you help me find my brother?" I looked at Sebastian Forrest, my face full of earnest hope.
"I can," Sebastian Forrest nodded. "As long as he’s still in Kington, I can find him in less than half a day."
"Thank you..."
"Alright, let’s go back for now so you can get some proper rest. You’re pregnant, you can’t overexert yourself."
"Okay."
「...」
I had to admit, Sebastian Forrest was incredibly efficient.
That very afternoon, I received a message from him saying he’d found my brother.
Immediately after, he sent a detailed hotel room address.
I quickly called Sebastian Forrest.
But the phone just rang and rang with no answer.
Just as I was thinking Sebastian Forrest must be busy, there was a sudden knock on my door.
I hurried to get up and open it, only to see Sebastian Forrest standing outside.
"How are you? Did you rest well?"
I quickly nodded. "I did."
"Are you hungry?" Sebastian Forrest said, glancing at his watch. "It’s about time for dinner. The hotel your brother is staying at happens to have a nice restaurant downstairs. Want to try it?"
I had been filled with anxiety, wanting nothing more than to run over and confront my brother that very instant. But Sebastian Forrest’s words helped ease my mind. I knew he was giving me time to calm my emotions.
"Okay, let’s get dinner first then."
「...」
I had to say, if a restaurant was "pretty good" by Sebastian Forrest’s standards, then it was definitely "pretty good."
Perhaps it was the comfort of the delicious food, but my agitated heart began to calm down.
After we had eaten and drunk our fill, I followed Sebastian Forrest to the hotel where my brother was staying.
As I stood outside the door, my heart suddenly started to pound with nervousness.
Thinking about how our last phone call had ended on such a bad note, I couldn’t help but feel apprehensive.
Just as I mustered the courage to ring the doorbell, the door swung open quickly, revealing my brother’s bright, hopeful smile.
"Clara, you—"
But when he saw it was me and Sebastian Forrest standing outside, the smile vanished from his face without a trace.
He almost subconsciously tried to slam the door, but Sebastian Forrest’s quick reflexes stopped him. Sebastian pushed hard, sending my brother stumbling back several steps.
"What are you doing?!" my brother snarled, glaring at Sebastian Forrest.
But Sebastian Forrest completely ignored his bluff. He just pushed the door wide open and looked back at me. "You two have a good talk. I’ll be right outside. Call me if you need anything."
"Thank you, Senior Forrest..."
Sebastian Forrest let out a soft chuckle. As he reached out to close the door, his gaze fell on my brother. His eyes, black as ink, were dark and deep, completely devoid of warmth.
That look sent a shiver down my brother’s spine. He pressed his lips together and avoided Sebastian’s gaze.
After hearing a soft CLICK from the door behind me, I finally looked up at my brother. "Who were you waiting for? Was it Clara Langley?"
A flicker of panic crossed my brother’s face, but he quickly composed himself. "What are you talking about? I don’t know what you mean."
"Don’t lie to me. I saw you go to meet Clara Langley this afternoon," I said coldly.
My brother froze for a moment, then his brows furrowed. "That car parked on the side of the road... that was Sebastian Forrest’s? You were in the car, weren’t you?"
"Brother, how do you know Clara Langley? What’s your relationship?"
My brother pressed his lips together. "You don’t need to know that."
"Why don’t I need to know? She’s the one who indirectly killed our mom!"
"It wasn’t her fault, it was Theodore Grant!" my brother blurted out, instinctively defending Clara Langley. "What does it have to do with her?"
I stared at my brother, stunned, as if I’d never known him.
I laughed out of sheer anger. "Then do you know she’s marrying Theodore Grant?"
My brother’s thin lips tightened as he frowned at me. "She and Theodore Grant are just good buddies. You’ve been misunderstanding her this whole time..."
I took a deep breath, looking at my brother with utter disappointment. "Is that what she told you? And you told me there was nothing between you two?"
"I can’t explain it to you. Her profession requires her identity to be confidential. I can’t drag her down..."
"Then do you know Clara Langley is pregnant?" I practically roared, the disappointment I’d been holding back finally causing me to snap. The words just tumbled out. "Do you know whose child she’s carrying?"
"Pregnant?" My brother frowned. "Chelsea Joyce, what nonsense are you spouting? How could Clara possibly be pregnant?"
I couldn’t help but laugh, fueled by pure rage.
In this situation, even without my brother saying anything, I could pretty much piece it all together.
My previous hunch was right—my brother’s relationship with Clara Langley really wasn’t simple!
"Alright, Chelsea, stop making a scene. Clara will be here any minute. She’s a public figure, she can’t have any scandals... You need to leave now!" My brother glanced anxiously at the time. It was clear his meeting with Clara was approaching.
"I’m not leaving." I walked over to the sofa and sat down. "When Clara Langley gets here, I’m going to confront her right in front of you. I’d like to see how she’s going to talk her way out of this!"
My brother suddenly grew frantic. He grabbed my arm and started dragging me toward the door. "I haven’t even settled the score with you for getting Mom killed! How dare you cause trouble here!"
"I didn’t get Mom killed!" My eyes widened with fury. "Clara Langley did! She’s the one who killed our mom!"
"Stop your damn nonsense!" My brother, completely agitated, gave me a hard shove.
BANG! I slammed right into the door panel.
I instinctively clutched my stomach, my brows knitting together in pain.
Just then, the door was pushed open. Seeing me leaning against the wall and clutching my stomach, Sebastian Forrest’s expression changed. "Chelsea, are you okay?"
I waved a hand at him. "I’m fine..."
Just before I hit the door, I’d braced myself with my arm. The sound had come from my elbow hitting the wood.
But Sebastian Forrest’s eyes turned ice-cold. He immediately clenched his fist, grabbed my brother by the collar, and threw a punch!
