On the Day I Was Kicked Out of the Wealthy Family, I Had a Flash Marriage with a Tycoon-Chapter 10: Domineering Yet Gentle
After a moment of silence, Chloe’s lips curled into an alluring, provocative smile.
It was as if she were saying, ’If I refuse to obey you. What can you do about it?’
Jasper suddenly grabbed her hand, pulled her into an empty nearby booth, and pinned her against the door.
Chloe stared at him in astonishment. "Jasper, you..."
Before she could finish, Jasper’s cool, slender fingers tilted her chin up, and his lips descended upon hers.
It was domineering yet gentle.
Chloe seemed to snap to her senses and tried to push him away, but he pinned her hands to her sides, leaving her unable to move.
After a very long time, Jasper finally pulled back, with his deep, captivating eyes fixed on her. "Ready to behave now?"
Chloe was panting slightly, but she said nothing.
As he gazed at her crimson cheeks, a dark glint appeared in the depths of Jasper’s eyes.
After a long moment, Chloe looked up at him, and her expression was complicated.
’What on earth does Jasper Lockwood mean by this?’
’This isn’t The Lockwood Residence, so there’s no need to put on a show for anyone. Does this mean... he actually likes me?’
She immediately dismissed the thought. ’Impossible!’
After a brief silence, Jasper spoke first. "Call me when you want to head back. We’ll leave together."
After a moment’s hesitation, Chloe replied, "Okay."
Jasper didn’t release her right away. He suddenly asked, "Why did you leave this morning without having breakfast?"
Chloe froze for a second, surprised by the question. "I had something urgent to attend to and didn’t have time."
"Don’t skip breakfast in the future." After a pause, Jasper added, "Your stomach isn’t in its best condition."
Chloe’s fingers tightened subconsciously. Since her hand was still in Jasper’s, her grip on him tightened as well. Their palms were burning hot, slick with a thin layer of sweat.
Flashes of a similar scene surfaced in her mind, and the tips of Chloe’s ears flushed red. "I get it. You can let go of me now."
Only then did Jasper follow her request.
Chloe returned to the room.
Seeing that she had been away for so long, Julian immediately asked, "What took so long? Are you okay?"
"I’m fine." Chloe sat back down, with her expression placid, as if nothing at all had happened.
Meanwhile...
Jasper returned to his own room, picked up his glass, and downed the contents in one go.
Seeing his dark expression, everyone else in the booth lowered their voices, afraid one wrong word might set off the infamous Grim Reaper.
Only Tristan Sinclair dared to tease him. "What’s wrong? Failed to see your little beauty?"
Jasper drank in silence, and ignored him.
Tristan smirked wickedly. "Well, I’ve seen everything now. Our great Second Master Lockwood, with all his money, looks, and status, can’t even handle one girl."
Jasper shot him a sidelong glance, his eyes as sharp and threatening as daggers.
At that, Tristan stopped teasing, and his smiled just vanished. He adopted a serious tone. "Second Master, you have to woo a girl. They like romantic things. You need to make some."
Jasper raised an eyebrow. "You’re a single man and you are lecturing me?"
Tristan retorted, "I’m an eligible bachelor! Beautiful women queued up to marry me across the globe."
As the young master of the Sinclair Family, that was no empty boast.
Jasper ignored him for that.
The woman sitting beside him thought of an idea, and said "President Lockwood, some girls these days are quite cunning. They love to play hard to get. Every woman would be interested in a man like you. She’s just toying with you, that’s all. You mustn’t fall for her tricks."
Jasper turned to look at the woman, and his dark eyes looked deep and unreadable. He asked "Who brought you here?"
Seeing that President Lockwood was talking to her, the woman looked incredibly flattered. She glanced at the man beside her and answered coyly, "President Sheffield brought me. Our families are old friends, and I begged him to bring me along. To be honest, I’ve always admired you..."
Jasper didn’t even hear the end of her sentence. His gaze had already shifted to the man beside her. The man, assuming President Lockwood had taken an interest in the woman, was thrilled. He was just about to speak up and take credit when he heard Jasper’s glacial voice. "Don’t let me see either of you again. Get out."
The pair froze, their faces alternating between red and white.
"Did you not understand what I said?" Jasper’s voice was even colder.
"We... we do." The man looked panicked as he quickly pulled the woman away.
Jasper had drunk a lot that evening and was slightly intoxicated. Sitting in the car, he undid the top button of his shirt with his slender fingers, loosened his tie, and revealed his prominent Adam’s apple.
Chloe turned to say something but froze. She was shocked by his actions.
Sensing her gaze, Jasper turned to face her with a wicked smile playing on his lips. His voice was low and bewitching. "You like what you see?"
...
Caught off guard by his comment, Chloe pressed her lips together and looked straight ahead. "It’s okay."
"Just okay?"
Jasper didn’t seem so satisfied with that answer.
After a few seconds, Chloe glanced back at him, a small smile on her lips. "It’s gorgeous. Enough to drive anyone wild."
Jasper suddenly leaned in, with his long, deep-set eyes fixed on her as he whispered, "And... does that ’anyone’ include you?"
"...It does not."
’I’m definitely not amazed by his looks. I’m just trying to repay my debt to him.’
Jasper said no more, but simply stared at her unblinkingly with those enchanting eyes that seemed to pull at one’s very soul.
His stare made Chloe increasingly uneasy, and she quickly turned to look out the car window.
A complicated look flickered in the depths of Jasper’s eyes before his gaze shifted to some vacant point ahead.
The car fell silent. Up front, the driver Henry was breaking out in a nervous cold sweat. He could perfectly sense his master’s mood at that moment. ’For Chloe to be able to resist a man as charming as Second Master Lockwood... She’s indeed a formidable woman,’ he thought to himself.
In the dimness of the car, no one noticed that Chloe’s cheeks were burning so red they looked like they might burst.
A few minutes later, at the Lockwood Residence...
Just as they reached the top of the stairs, Chloe seemed to remember something and stopped. She turned to Jasper and said, "You should sleep in your own room. I’ll take the guest room."
"What’s wrong? Is there something you don’t like about the room?" Jasper asked.
"No. It’s just... that’s your bedroom. I can’t keep occupying it."
He gazed at her for a moment before saying with a serious expression, "Mrs. Lockwood, you are the mistress of this house now. Everything here belongs to you, so you aren’t ’occupying’ anything."
Chloe opened her mouth to argue, but Jasper cut her off, his tone firm. "Chloe, get some rest. Good night."
With that, he turned and walked toward the guest room.
Gazing at his retreating figure, Chloe’s expression deepened. ’Could it be... that Jasper didn’t marry me just for the shares?’
In the room.
Jasper sat on the sofa, his unreadable gaze fixed on the file in his hands.
A subordinate stood nearby, and spoke cautiously. "Sir, we’ve confirmed it. The Mysterious Pharmacist is definitely in Crestfall."
Jasper asked, "Any specific leads?"
The man shook his head slightly. "Not yet. That figure is exceptionally good at staying hidden."
"Keep looking. We have to be the one to find this person first."
"Yes, sir."
