On the Day I Was Kicked Out of the Wealthy Family, I Had a Flash Marriage with a Tycoon-Chapter 3: Mrs. Lockwood
A flicker of unease crossed Chloe’s face, but she quickly regained her composure. "Mhm." She turned to look at the bewildered Julian. "I will take a leave now."
Julian let out a dazed, "Oh."
’What the hell is going on?’
Walking down the corridor, Chloe glanced at the staff-only passage to the side. "This way?"
Jasper’s gaze fell on the two words "Staff Only" on the door, and his impossibly handsome face shifted slightly once more.
But he didn’t comment and said plainly, "Alright."
Behind them, Henry Chamberlain was already breaking out in a cold sweat. He felt that his seemed annoyed.
The private passage led directly to the parking garage, and the three of them got into the car.
Breaking the silence, Jasper suddenly asked, "Are you and that Young Master Xavier close?"
"Mhm," Chloe said. "We get along well."
Jasper glanced sideways at her. "He doesn’t know we’re married?"
"He doesn’t. I didn’t tell him."
"Why not?"
Chloe’s tone was flat. "If we are divorced later, I’d have to make explanations. It’s too much trouble."
Hearing this, Jasper’s long, deep eyes narrowed, clearly displeased. "Divorced?"
Sensing that his tone was off, Chloe turned to look at him. Sure enough, displeasure was faintly written across the man’s handsome face.
"..."
Seeing his expression, Chloe was confused. She didn’t understand why he was upset. She had already discovered the reason Jasper rushed into marrying her. He needed the twenty percent stake in the company held by Old Master Lockwood. As long as they remained married for two years, the shares would be transferred to his name.’
By that time, no one would be able to challenge his position as the head of the Lockwood Group.
And the reason Jasper chose her was probably because he figured someone with no power or influence in Crestfall would be easy to deal with after the two years were up.
Although learning the real reason had annoyed her a little, she didn’t dwell on it. Jasper had helped her once, and even if he didn’t remember that, she still wanted to repay the favor.’
Feeling a little uncomfortable under his gaze, Chloe cleared her throat. "I meant if."
Jasper stared at her for a long moment before his deep, magnetic voice finally cut in. "There is no ’if,’ Mrs. Lockwood."

Jasper deliberately emphasized the two words "Mrs. Lockwood." Chloe, who was still not used to the title became taken aback for a moment.
’What’s that supposed to mean?!’
Half an hour later, the car stopped in front of an apartment building.
Although the two were married, Chloe was not living with Jasper for the time being.
She was used to living alone and wasn’t quite accustomed to sharing a space with someone else yet. Jasper had been reasonable enough to agree to give her time.
Henry got out and opened the car door, and the two of them got out one after the other.
"I’ll head up then," Chloe said.
"Chloe, when do you plan on moving into the Lockwood Residence? We’ve been married for a month. It doesn’t look right for us to be living separately."
Jasper’s deep eyes were fixed on her, and his voice magnetic and bewitching, like a siren luring a soul.
Looking at the man’s face, Chloe couldn’t help but recall that passionate night and her own awkward state the following day.
She cleared her throat. "Let me get through this busy period first."
"And how long will that be?"
Chloe: "...A year or so, maybe."
"..."
Before Jasper could say anything else, Chloe immediately turned and walked towards the apartment building.
Watching the young woman’s tall, slender back, a complex emotion flickered in the depths of Jasper’s dark eyes before being replaced by an unwavering resolve.
...
Cecilia roared into her phone, "What time is it! Why haven’t you brought that bitch to me yet!"
The bodyguard on the phone said, "Miss, we’ve been watching the entrance to the bar, but we haven’t seen that woman come out."
"She hasn’t come out?!" Cecilia’s face darkened as she muttered, "Don’t tell me that bitch is sleeping with Julian in the bar?"
After a moment’s hesitation, the bodyguard cautioned, "Miss, if the woman is with Young Master Xavier, it will be difficult for us to make a move."
"I don’t think that bitch can stay with Julian forever! You just wait there. The second Julian isn’t with her, you grab her for me! If I don’t teach that bitch a brutal lesson, I will fail my name!"
"Yes, Miss."
The next morning...
Chloe came out of the bedroom when suddenly someone rang the doorbell. She looked at the security feed on her phone and paused for a moment before going to open the door.
Rose stood at the door with a grim face.
"What is it?" Chloe’s tone was cold.
Rose’s voice was frigid. "Chloe, you’re doing this on purpose, aren’t you? You know full well that the Sterling Family is collaborating with the Stone Family right now, yet you deliberately provoked Miss! Are you trying to get revenge on us?"
Chloe sneered. "I really don’t have the time or interest for that."
"Then it’s because of Esther," Rose said gravely. "I know you’re jealous of her, always trying to compete, so you deliberately target her and her friends. But have you ever stopped to think about everything? How can you possibly compare to Esther? You grew up in the countryside, while I meticulously raised Esther in Crestfall. The difference between you two is like night and day. There’s no comparison to be made!"
Chloe’s eyes narrowed, as her voice turned dangerously low. "Did you come here first thing in the morning just to say this to me?"
Rose had never seen this side of Chloe before. The powerful, menacing aura surrounding her was chilling, and Rose subconsciously took a step back.
Chloe spoke again, "I have nothing more to do with the Sterling Family. Don’t come bothering me again!"
But Rose was no pushover. She wouldn’t be intimidated by a young girl. She quickly regained her composure. "Nothing to do with us? Then why are you still living in a property owned by the Sterling Family?"
At her words, Chloe’s eyes darkened further.
The apartment was indeed a Sterling Family property. When she had first returned to the family, Mr. and Mrs. Sterling, who was worried that Esther wouldn’t be able to immediately accept this sister, who had suddenly appeared from the countryside, had her live here alone temporarily.
They called it a temporary thing, but in reality, she had lived here alone for the past six months. She had barely set foot in Sterlings’ real home.
"Chloe, you need to learn your place. Since you refused the marriage, you should just go back to the countryside. Crestfall isn’t the place for you." As she spoke, Rose took out a bank card and held it out. "There are two million in here. It’s enough for you to live comfortably in the countryside for the rest of your life. I’ll take care of the situation with Miss Stone. Just leave Crestfall. It’s for the best—for you, for Esther, and for the Sterling Family."
Rose Lynch regretted so terribly. She regretted ever bringing Chloe back. The thought of Chloe’s background, of the mockery from the other wives in her social circle, of having a good-for-nothing daughter raised in the countryside... it was all utterly humiliating.
Chloe glanced at the card in her hand. "You should keep this little bit of money for yourself. I won’t be living in this apartment anymore."
Chloe Sterling! Don’t think that just because you have a pretty face you can latch onto some rich kid and have it all figured out! To them, you’re just a novelty, a plaything to be discarded whenever they get bored. You won’t get anything out of it! Stop embarrassing yourself, and stop embarrassing the Sterling Family! I’ve said my piece. Think about your life carefully!
Chloe suddenly reached out and snatched the card from Rose’s hand. Just as Rose was about to breathe a sigh of relief, thinking Chloe had agreed to take the money and return to the countryside, Chloe tore the card in half right in front of her. Then she tossed the pieces to the ground and said coldly, "I’ve thought it over very clearly."
Rose’s face turned livid. She gritted her teeth and said, "Unbelievable!"
’I have to make her leave Crestfall!’ Rose thought.
