Chloe Sterling frowned slightly. She didn’t want to tell him.

"Chloe..." Jasper Lockwood said again, his expression turning more serious.

Chloe Sterling pursed her lips. "Maybe the surveillance camera just happened to be broken. There was no hacker. You’re overthinking it."

"It has to do with Silas Coldwell. I was driving past an intersection today and saw a few cars boxing in his vehicle. I gave him a hand, ramming one of their cars so he could break through the encirclement. I just got a little hurt in the process."

Just as she’d expected, Jasper Lockwood’s expression darkened after she finished. He asked in a deep voice, "Why? Why would you help him like that? Did you really only know him for a short time in Country E?"

"Because I wanted him to owe me another favor, so he’ll stop going against you."

"And for that, you were willing to get hurt?"

"It’s just a minor injury. It’s nothing."
