On the Day I Was Kicked Out of the Wealthy Family, I Had a Flash Marriage with a Tycoon-Chapter 85: Turns Out They Know Each Other
Chloe Sterling glanced at Jean Kensington and hummed softly in acknowledgment, not offering any further introduction.
Jean Kensington stood to the side without saying a word, not even looking at Tristan Sinclair.
Tristan Sinclair, however, stared intently at her. After a moment, his lips curved into a half-smile. "Is this how you act when you see me?"
Hearing this, Chloe Sterling paused. ’They know each other?’
’Why didn’t Jean ever tell me?’
Faced with the man’s oppressive aura, Jean Kensington, who had been stubbornly silent, finally looked at him with a fake smile. "President Sinclair, hello."
Seeing her smile that didn’t reach her eyes, Tristan Sinclair let out a soft snort.
Jean Kensington: "..."
Tristan Sinclair averted his gaze. "You two carry on with your shopping. I have to get back to work."
"Okay," Chloe Sterling replied.
Jean Kensington said with feigned politeness, "Take care, President Sinclair."
Tristan Sinclair shot her a glance before walking away without another word.
Once he and his entourage were gone, Chloe Sterling immediately asked, "You know Tristan Sinclair?"
"Sort of. My younger uncle works for him. He used to take me to the Sinclair Family’s banquets sometimes, which is where I met him. He’s not that much older than me, but he always acted like an elder. But I was just a kid back then, and we haven’t seen each other in years."
"I see. Is your uncle a hacker too?"
"Yep." Jean Kensington’s lips curled into a smile. "Good genes for it run in our family."
Chloe Sterling smiled. "Nice." After a pause, she asked again, "Anything else you want to buy?"
"No, I’m done. This is enough."
The two of them left the mall, each carrying several shopping bags. The homeless man from the roadside was gone.
「Outside the concert hall.」
Esther Sterling and Ruby Lynch got out of their car, planning to check the concert hall’s setup and arrangements in advance.
This was Esther Sterling’s first performance since her incident, so there could be no mistakes.
The two were about to head inside when they saw a scruffy homeless man run over. He had already been rejected by several people who suspected his tickets were fake, but he wanted to try his luck again.
"Hey, beautiful ladies, want concert tickets? Selling cheap, I’ll take whatever you offer."
The two recoiled in disgust. Ruby Lynch said, "Where did this beggar come from? Get away from us!"
The bodyguards immediately shielded the two women and barked at the homeless man, "Get lost!"
"Who are you calling a beggar! I’m here to sell concert tickets! If you don’t want them, fine! I wouldn’t sell them to you now anyway! I’ll go listen myself!"
Noticing that the tickets in his hand were for her own concert, Esther Sterling’s expression darkened. "Wait!"
The man, who had just turned to leave, looked back. "What?"
"Where did you get those tickets?" Esther Sterling demanded coldly.
The man scoffed. "What’s it to you?"
Ruby Lynch also noticed the tickets in the man’s hand, her expression turning cold. "Aha, so you’re a thief! Where did you steal those tickets!"
"Bullshit!" the man yelled, enraged. "A beautiful lady gave them to me!"
Ruby Lynch sneered. Who would give a beggar concert tickets? "Hand over the tickets, or I’m calling the police!"
The man immediately stuffed the tickets into his pocket. "These are my tickets! Why should I give them to you!"
Esther Sterling said in a low voice, "I’ll give you money. Hand over the tickets!"
"How much are you offering?" the man asked.
"What money!" Ruby Lynch said coldly. "He obviously stole these tickets." She then ordered her bodyguards, "Call the police!"
The police arrived quickly. After a brief investigation, they found that the tickets had indeed been given to the homeless man by someone else.
They also showed the surveillance footage to Ruby Lynch and Esther Sterling, confirming they weren’t stolen.
But after watching the footage, Esther Sterling’s expression turned even uglier.
’It’s Chloe Sterling again!’
’The one who gave the tickets to the homeless man was that vixen by her side, but it must have been Chloe Sterling’s idea. That bitch is just jealous of me and can’t stand to see me do well.’
Ruby Lynch frowned. "Chloe Sterling again! She’s like a lingering ghost!"
Esther Sterling had changed a lot recently. Instead of throwing a tantrum like she used to, she calmly apologized to the police. Then she said to the homeless man, "We misunderstood you. We’ll buy the tickets off you. They’re two thousand each, so how about I give you five thousand for both?"
The homeless man glanced at her. "I’m not selling anymore. I’m going to the concert myself."
With that, he walked out of the police station.
Esther Sterling’s face instantly darkened. She absolutely would not allow such a person to appear at her performance.
So she chased after him and said, "How about ten thousand?"
The homeless man’s eyes darted around. He was tempted, but he felt he could get an even higher price.
"Nope, not selling."
"Twenty thousand!" Esther Sterling said. "That’s my highest offer. Think carefully. If you don’t sell, I’m leaving right now."
Afraid she would actually leave and he’d never find another fool willing to pay so much, the man put on a reluctant act. "Fine, twenty thousand it is."
Esther Sterling glanced at a bodyguard. "Go get twenty thousand in cash for him and get the tickets back."
"Yes, Miss."
Ruby Lynch walked over and sneered, "What a pain."
Esther Sterling’s eyes darkened. "Sooner or later, I will make Chloe Sterling pay for everything she’s done!"
"You really don’t know who’s backing her?" Ruby Lynch asked again.
"I don’t know," Esther Sterling said. "And it doesn’t matter."
’Because I will go further, and higher.’
’After the concert, I’m going to participate in the national piano competition. This competition is sponsored by the Sinclair Group. No matter what it takes, I have to get first place. Not only to clear my name, but also to make the people at The Sinclair Group notice me.’
’Compared to The Sinclair Group, what does the Rivers Family even amount to!’
’Even though the two families are on good terms, the difference in assets and power is enormous.’
’I will make Damian Rivers regret how he treated me! And I’ll make Chloe Sterling understand that she can never compare to me.’
’Back when she first came to Crestfall, I had a way to keep her from entering the Sterling family home. Naturally, I also have ways to make her get the hell out of Crestfall. It will just take a little time.’
’Chloe Sterling, let’s take our time with this game. We’ll see who has the last laugh.’
Chloe Sterling and Jean Kensington took their clothes home, then went to the martial arts school to pick up the baby.
As soon as they entered the school, they saw the little guy practicing punches with Chase Langdon, looking both cool and adorable with his proper form.
"Chloe, Jean, you’re here!" Chase Langdon looked down at the little guy beside him and added, "What do you think of the baby’s moves and techniques? I’ve discovered he’s a promising talent, with a real gift for martial arts. And he really likes it himself. I think you should let him study martial arts with me from now on."
Jean Kensington walked over to the baby and knelt down. "Son, do you really like learning martial arts?"
The baby nodded.
’He liked it. He wanted to be as skilled as his godmother and Uncle Chase, so he could protect his mommy in the future.’
"You want to learn martial arts with Uncle Chase?"
The baby nodded again.
Jean Kensington patted her son’s little head. "Okay, then you can learn. And by the way, you looked super cool just now!"
