On the Day I Was Kicked Out of the Wealthy Family, I Had a Flash Marriage with a Tycoon-Chapter 84: Who Is This Beauty?
Jean Kensington blinked. "Really? You don’t think he’ll try to make things difficult for me behind my back?"
Chloe Sterling sank languidly onto the sofa. "Are you afraid of him?"
"Of course I am! Who in Crestfall isn’t? I may not work for him, but he could make my company disappear overnight with a snap of his fingers."
Chloe Sterling watched her for a moment before suddenly saying, "Have you ever considered a career change?"
"What kind of career?"
Chloe Sterling said with a straight face, "Screenwriter."
Jean Kensington burst out laughing. She scooted closer, hugging Chloe’s arm. "Darling, thank you. Oh, right, there’s something else I wanted to tell you."
"What is it?"
"The spirit pill you gave me... I gave it away. To someone very important to me."
"It’s yours to give. You can do what you want with your own things. But I have to remind you, there are only a few spirit pills in total. You should keep one for yourself, just in case."
Jean Kensington giggled. "I know. I still have one left."
’Though she said that, Chloe hadn’t kept any for herself. She had used them to save people, given them away as gifts, and even sold a few. Now she didn’t have a single one left.’
Chloe Sterling suddenly noticed two concert tickets on the table. She picked them up and looked them over. "Since when are you a fan of concerts?"
"Why would I ever like this kind of trashy concert? My boss likes it, so he gave everyone two tickets and told us to go. Just throw them in the trash."
’She wouldn’t be caught dead at one of Esther Sterling’s performances, even if they paid her. It was a miracle she wasn’t actively trying to sabotage it.’
’She’d only realized it was Esther Sterling’s piano recital after she’d gotten home. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have even bothered bringing the tickets back.’
Between Jean’s disgusted tone and the words "piano recital" on the tickets, Chloe guessed it was Esther Sterling’s performance.
The recent scandal had indeed affected Esther Sterling. Her reputation had taken a hit, and she’d lost a good number of fans, but she still had a loyal following.
Thanks to her pretty face and a modicum of talent.
Before Chloe could move, Jean snatched the tickets away. She was about to toss them in the trash but suddenly changed her mind. Her eyes darted around thoughtfully. "If you’re not busy, let’s go out for a bit. The weather’s getting cooler, and my baby’s clothes from last year are too small. I want to buy him some new things."
"Sure."
With that, the two of them headed out.
There was a mall near the apartment, so they just walked over.
On the way, Jean deliberately gave the tickets to a homeless man on the street. She told him he could go to the concert, or if he didn’t want to, he could sell them at the venue entrance for some cash.
The man was a bit skeptical, but he took the tickets anyway.
After that, the two women continued to the mall.
Jean Kensington headed straight for the children’s clothing section. A salesperson immediately approached her. "Can I help you with anything?"
Jean Kensington said, "I’m just looking."
Seeing that neither of them was wearing any designer brands and were "just looking," the salesperson’s expression immediately soured. Her attitude became dismissive. "Fine. Look around, then."
Jean Kensington did a lap around the store with the salesperson tailing her. Seeing that she didn’t touch a single item or ask to see anything, the salesperson became even more impatient, convinced Jean had no intention of buying.
Just then, a lavishly dressed woman walked in. The salesperson’s eyes lit up. She immediately called over a trainee. "Hank, come take care of these two."
With that, she immediately walked over to the newly arrived woman, greeting her with a wide smile.
The woman knew exactly what she wanted, asking directly for a pricey new arrival. The salesperson happily went to retrieve the item.
The trainee looked a little hurt but didn’t dare say anything. He was clearly used to being bullied.
After composing himself, the young man gave Jean and Chloe a small smile. "Have you seen any styles you like? How old is your baby? Would you like me to recommend a few things?"
"No, thank you," Jean Kensington said.
The original salesperson, who was nearby, sneered to herself. ’Knew it. They’re not buying anything.’
"Our clothes aren’t just stylish, they’re also very comfortable. They’re a favorite among many babies," the trainee added.
Jean Kensington’s lips curled into a smile. "I know." She started pointing. "That one, that one, that one, and those three over there. Get them all in a size medium and wrap them up for me."
The trainee’s eyes widened in astonishment. "All of them?"
"Yes."
"Of course." A wave of delight washed over the young man. He quickly added, "I’m sorry, that was a lot at once. Could you point them out one more time?"
The original salesperson was stunned and immediately rushed back over. "Oh, honestly, can’t you even remember that? Let me get them."
Jean Kensington looked at the woman. "No, it’s fine. Let him get them." She then turned back to the trainee and repeated her order. The young man immediately went to gather the items.
The senior salesperson stood awkwardly to the side, cursing internally. ’She looks like a damn seductress. Must be a homewrecker!’
After paying and taking the bags, Jean Kensington turned to the trainee and said, "Good people get bullied, and tame horses get ridden. In the workplace, especially, you have to learn to fight back. Understand?"
The young man paused, a look of gratitude on his face. "I understand. Thank you."
「In the security room.」
Tristan Sinclair was inspecting his family’s mall and had started in the security room. He happened to spot Chloe Sterling on one of the monitors and was paying attention when he witnessed the entire scene unfold.
His sharp gaze swept over the operations manager. "Is this the kind of attitude your staff has? How many times have I said that we are a high-end mall that provides first-class service? The tenants and their employees must be held to the strictest standards. Their attitude must be impeccable!"
The manager, his face pale with fright, nodded quickly. "Yes, sir. I’ll contact the store right now and have them deal with this employee."
Tristan Sinclair said coldly, "I don’t want to see something like this happen ever again."
"Yes, sir. We’ll be much stricter with our oversight in the future."
...
As they walked, Jean Kensington grumbled, "So much for ’high-end quality’ and ’first-class service.’ The staff’s quality seems pretty average to me. By the way, isn’t this mall owned by the Sinclair Family?"
Chloe Sterling replied, "Yes, I think so."
Jean Kensington huffed. "I’m never coming here again."
Chloe glanced at her. "Because of what just happened? That seems a bit extreme. The mall itself is actually quite nice."
’As far as she knew, Tristan Sinclair had personally designed and developed this mall with the core concepts of quality and service.’
’It had been open for less than a year, but the plan was for it to become a chain, just like his family’s hotels, with locations in every major city in the country.’
’Jean hadn’t decided never to return because of the incident in the store. It was because this was a Sinclair Family business. She hated Phoebe Sinclair and refused to contribute a single cent to her family’s enterprise.’
As they were walking, Tristan Sinclair suddenly appeared, walking toward them with an entourage.
He raised a hand, halting the group behind him, and then walked toward the two women. "Chloe. What a coincidence meeting you here again."
This time, Chloe Sterling’s attitude wasn’t as cold. Her lips curved into a small smile. "President Sinclair, hello."
Tristan Sinclair’s gaze shifted to Jean Kensington, a roguish smile playing on his lips. "And this beauty is your friend?"
