One-Eyed Monster-Chapter 709 - 706: Dealing with Insect Worm
The formation of the Alchemy Workshop was complete. Suddenly, numerous iron fences rose around the charred ground—cages manifested through the Exchange Spell.
These fences were all made of iron, a rather sturdy material. However, Kuyi Tulan seemed somewhat dissatisfied. He flipped his hand, and an Alchemy Equation on its back faintly glowed. Then, the iron fences transformed into Dark Iron.
Evidently, Kuyi Tulan had reinforced the material. Dark Iron was an exceedingly precious substance; even the Golden Seats of the Alchemy Workshop could not exchange for it.
Yet, Kuyi Tulan could conjure this valuable material with a mere flip of his hand, a clear testament to his formidable power.
Every Dark Iron cage fence was imbued with Spirit Power, its segments interconnected to form a spiritual chain.
This cage was already quite an impressive achievement.
Even Kevin and the other proud Soldiers couldn't help but admire this achievement of the Alchemy Workshop.
They now offered unconditional support to the Alchemy Workshop. If it could trap this Dark Force, they would back it completely, no matter the cost.
This Alchemy Array was magnificent, with its Imprisoning Cage. It truly looked capable of trapping this Dark Force.
Wizard Reed's lingering thoughts hadn't originally intended to appear. For a bunch of Insect Worms, he felt no need to intervene.
The only reason he emerged was simple: he sensed an Insect Worm laughing wildly.
This wild laughter made him very uncomfortable. What impudence from this brash Insect Worm!
He wanted to see just what kind of Insect Worm would dare to laugh like that in his presence...
By possessing skeletal remains, he could transfer his lingering consciousness into a vessel, allowing him to move more freely.
Before he could even emerge from the ground, Wizard Reed's lingering thoughts sensed a resisting aura.
These Insect Worms' methods of attack were quite varied, but before him, they held no advantage whatsoever.
HEHEHE HAHAHA! His iconic laughter echoed once again.
"Lock him!" Kuyi Tulan ordered, and everyone began to busy themselves.
Those supplying Spirit Power did so, while others inscribed Alchemy Equations. This Alchemy Array was indeed meticulously constructed.
Wizard Reed's lingering thoughts cared little for this Alchemy Array. He had already fully emerged from the ground. The vessel he occupied was a skeleton, without flesh, a mere empty frame.
However, this empty frame was exceedingly arrogant.
And it had the grounds to be so.
The empty skeleton extended its hand and, SNAP! He snapped his fingers...
In an instant, the Dark Iron cage fences experienced a trial of ice and fire.
As for where the fire and ice originated, no one saw the details. It seemed the flames and frost had simply appeared in that instant...
Then, CRACK! CRUMBLE! The empty skeleton snapped the Dark Iron fences one by one.
Kuyi Tulan and the others were completely stunned. To witness the Alchemy Array being shattered in such a manner was truly horrifying.
Ignoring the Spirit Lock, ignoring the Dark Iron material—this skeleton was incredibly resilient.
"Insignificant Insect Worms, utterly arrogant," Wizard Reed's lingering thoughts sneered.
The shocked Alchemists immediately returned to their positions. But when they tried to gather their Spirit Power for another attack, they found themselves immobilized.
What's happening? Everyone was filled with questions...
"HEHEHE HAHAHA! You are simply incapable of stopping me! HEHEHE HAHAHA!" The lingering thoughts of Dark Wizard Reed remained steeped in arrogance.
Kuyi Tulan's Alchemist team was now completely ineffective. They were locked in place by this Dark Wizard, and the Imprisoning Cage array had lost all effect.
Kuyi Tulan gritted his teeth, trying to flip his hand back over.
"There's no need for futile resistance. You are all just Insect Worms. The Alchemy Array is useless. How can Death itself be bound by anything? HEHEHE HAHAHA!"
THUD! Just as the skeleton was still laughing wildly, a plank—neither too large nor too small—struck it squarely on the skull.
The attack was so sudden it almost shattered the skeleton.
Serves you right for talking so much, for being so smug! The plank, seemingly unsatisfied with a single hit, rained a flurry of blows upon the skeleton's head.
The empty skeleton raised its hand in panic to fend off the sudden attacks. Wizard Reed's wisp of lingering thought was suddenly filled with disbelief and anger, and the suppressing spell he had cast was instantly released.
In that moment, the restraints on Kuyi Tulan, Milo, and the others were also lifted.
The one attacking the skeleton was none other than Igor.
No one knew how Igor had managed to sneak up to the skeleton, but the ferocity of his plank assault left everyone gaping in surprise.
The furious skeleton raised its arm, and black flames erupted. The plank in Igor's hand instantly turned to ash.
Kuyi Tulan commanded again, "Form the Array!"
"I told you not to waste your time, you Insect Worms. Now, I shall extract every one of your souls completely!" The skeleton's—or rather, Wizard Reed's lingering thoughts'—voice turned cold and terrifying due to Igor's attack, its earlier arrogance replaced by a chilling menace. "You wished to witness the Power of Darkness, did you not? Now, your wish is granted."
A gust of wind erupted from the skeleton, nearly blowing Igor and the others into the air.
Igor fell heavily onto the tavern floor. The Witch Spirit, Kuruto, hiding nearby, scolded tremulously, "Look at the trouble you've caused!"
On the charred ground, the earth from which the skeleton had emerged began to transform. A vast swamp started to form, spreading rapidly in the direction of the onlookers.
"Back off! Don't stand within range of his spell! Use the Exchange Beasts!" Kuyi Tulan shouted, his reaction swift.
The appearance of the Exchange Beasts allowed them to evade the swamp's engulfing advance, though they lost many Exchange Beasts in the process.
The Exchange Beasts were sacrificed to the swamp in their stead, allowing the Alchemists to retreat to some stone blocks.
"This is just the beginning," Wizard Reed's lingering thoughts intoned, continuing to chant. "Let me show you what forbidden power truly is!"
The corpses of the Exchange Beasts suddenly emerged from the swamp, along with skeletons, decaying bodies, and Undead...
Driven by the spell, this horde of dead things began to devour each other. After a while, the final Devouring entities began to multiply.
"This is the forbidden Undead army! Slay them all, my Messengers of Plague, my followers of Hell!"
The newly multiplied Undead army immediately began its slaughter. Those who fell were consumed and then reanimated, swelling the ranks of the Undead army ever further.
Kuyi Tulan's Alchemists no longer dared use the Exchange Spell to summon Combat Exchange Beasts. The more they summoned, the more Puppets this Dark Force would gain. They could only focus on defending themselves.
