One more catty, one more attribute point-Chapter 597 - 486: Rubbing a Black Hole with Bare Hands, Sister Run Fast!
Surging eyes suddenly widened with dark golden pupils.
A massive amount of waste heat was vented from the opening and closing scales, raising the temperature of the Magma Lake sharply.
First it bubbled like boiling water, then huge columns of flame erupted from below. Magma violently lashed against the nearby walls, causing the entire subterranean palace to rumble. Su Heng’s gigantic frame rose from the center of the lake, with streams of flame flowing along his pitch-black armor, and purple electrical light crackling on the radiating crystals on his back.
His deep breaths quickly awoke him from his slumber.
As a substantial amount of gas passed through the ventilation ducts of the subterranean palace, it triggered sharp, train-whistle-like screeches.
Boom!
Su Heng’s foot stomped onto a step at the edge.
These massive steps were constructed from Radiant Stones, many times harder than diamonds.
Yet, under Su Heng’s feet, they were as fragile as rotten wood, cracking and collapsing with a snap. Caught off-guard, Su Heng nearly stumbled from this sudden change. Fortunately, his extraordinary physique gradually recovered, and with his iron-cold, dark spiritual power sweeping across the ground, Su Heng regained his balance in an instant, standing beside the glowing red lake.
He blinked, gazing down at his surroundings and then pondered his abnormally transformed hands.
"How strange," Su Heng commented, "Was that experience a dream or reality? Those sensations were vivid, not like fictive illusions, but there is no clear reaction on my body."
Su Heng scratched his chin.
"Uh..."
He suddenly felt some acid reflux.
Instinctively opening his mouth, something made of red copper was spat out by Su Heng.
Curious, he looked down and through the hissing white smoke, he saw an incompletely digested bone.
The bone, adorned with massive horns on both temples and a deformed skull, appeared fierce and ugly—it was indeed Abbas’s head.
"If that’s the case..." Su Heng’s eyes narrowed slightly, suggesting the experiences may not have been mere illusions. Moreover, Su Heng’s stomach now essentially acted as a massive biological nuclear reactor. The fact that this bone had survived in such an environment was rare since Su Heng’s transformation in life form.
He picked up Abbas’s skull.
In life, Abbas was no significant challenge.
But after his death, the remains had their peculiarities.
The bone color, stained like red copper soaked in blood, was extremely hard, covered with a tough membrane.
Su Heng sniffed lightly.
He sensed an essence similar to that of the Brass Throne.
"After I killed him, this skull received some sort of blessing; it’s a part of my spoils of war now, though its specific use is still unclear. I need to figure it out," Su Heng mused, feeling a spark of enlightenment. He didn’t dwell on this matter further, as his current power meant he need not concern over such trivialities.
He slightly shifted his thought.
In the skull’s hollow eye sockets, two balls of fire ignited.
It looked fierce, quite fitting Su Heng’s aesthetic as a decoration.
He examined it and nodded in satisfaction. Then he hung it on a nearby wall, next to the Flame Demon’s head.
Swish!
A cold wind swept through the dim subterranean palace.
A beautiful girl in red appeared before Su Heng; it was Li Hongxiu.

"During the time I’ve been in slumber, has there been any abnormalities with me?" Su Heng asked, looking down as his body gradually shrank. The dark scales, the fierce bone spurs, and the bony mask covering his face were slowly absorbed into his body with loud metallic clicks.
Hearing this question, Li Hongxiu hesitated.
"Was there a problem during your seclusion?" Li Hongxiu shook her head, "No, you were sleeping soundly, just like a baby in a cradle."
"..."
Su Heng said, "I see, that’s really strange."
He briefly shared the events of his dream with Li Hongxiu and showed her his spoils of war.
Clearly, their tastes did not align; but Li Hongxiu, ever so accommodating, still reluctantly praised Su Heng’s accomplishment.
"Hmm."
Su Heng found her compliments rather satisfying.
He then asked, "How’s the progress on the task I assigned before my seclusion? Any news of enemies?"
"The first batch of Genetic Transformation Potions has been specifically completed. Although it still falls short of your designated target, a preliminary estimate suggests that even another outbreak of Divine Plague won’t cause chaos on the scale of the last one."
"Is this what they call... herd immunity?" Li Hongxiu blurted out a trendy term.
"I suppose so."
Li Hongxiu’s voice was pleasing to hear.
Even a simple report of work couldn’t bore Su Heng.
He listened to Li Hongxiu detail everything here while he began to study the changes brought by the Eight-Nine Mystical Skill during this period of slumber.
This was the third uplift in his Life Level; the previous two enhancements were the Sun Furnace and the Demon Engine, but this time the transformation occurred in the brain. Normally, a creature’s brain is fleshy, protected by a hard skull but still one of the most vulnerable parts of the body.
