One Piece: King of the World-Chapter 377: Garp – “Do You Still Know That I’m Your Father?!”
Lucci stood behind Claudius, looking at Dragon with a strange expression.
However, he didn't ask any questions. Instead, he simply acted as if he were invisible, keeping silent.
Spandam stood by the door like a small attendant, gazing enviously at his father, Spandine, who was casually chatting and laughing with His Highness, Marine heroes, and even the leader of the Revolutionary Army.
"As expected, my father is incredible. If I could be even half as capable as him... no, even just a third as good," Spandam thought to himself.
As he was lost in thought, Nia glanced at him and said, "What are you doing standing there? Come here, I'll teach you how to make tea."
Spandam snapped out of it and quickly followed with a grin. "Yes, Lord Nia."
"Just call me Sister Nia," she said with a smile.
Meanwhile, after chatting for a while, Claudius finally turned to Spandine and got down to business.
"So? Did you pick them out? Is it enough?" Claudius asked softly.
Hearing this, Spandine straightened up, his expression serious. "Your Highness, rest assured, I have selected more than thirty capable and loyal individuals."
"Very good, I trust your judgment." Claudius nodded, then signaled to Lucci.
Lucci acknowledged with a nod, turned, and walked into Claudius' study. A short while later, he returned with a stack of documents.
After handing them over to Claudius, Claudius passed them directly to Spandine without even glancing at them.
Spandine respectfully accepted the documents and flipped through them briefly.
"These are my warrants," Claudius said. "Once the Reverie begins, you will take your men and use these warrants to seize control of all communication agencies in Mariejois.
The moment I give the signal, Mariejois will be cut off from the world, a complete blackout. Nothing will be transmitted in or out!"
Claudius' voice was deep and resolute.
Without hesitation, Spandine responded, "Yes, Your Highness!"
After a short pause, he grinned and added, "Not only will nothing be able to get out, but nothing will be able to get in either. Your Highness, you can rest assured."
Claudius let out a hearty laugh.
Once his laughter subsided, he turned to Dragon before shifting his gaze back to Spandine. "Do you have the confidence to smuggle the Revolutionary Army into Mariejois unnoticed?"
Spandine glanced at Dragon, who gave him a friendly nod.
Spandine smiled back but then furrowed his brow, deep in thought.
Claudius didn't have to wait long. After a brief moment of contemplation, Spandine said, "Under normal circumstances, smuggling in ordinary Revolutionary Army members isn't difficult, as long as they're not too well-known.
But senior cadres are different, their identities are already registered in the CP agencies."
"Is it difficult?" Claudius asked.
Dragon rolled his eyes and said, "Of course, it's difficult."
Spandine chuckled. "It is a bit tricky, but not impossible. The CP agencies will be handling part of Mariejois' security during the Reverie, but they wouldn't dare to provoke the Marines—especially now, with Marine Headquarters being so powerful that it's completely suppressing the CP organization..."
"So, what are you suggesting?" Claudius asked again.
Spandine looked over at Vice Admiral Garp and then said with a smile, "If the Revolutionary Army arrives on a Marine warship and we have CP-X covering for them, I doubt the agents from CP will dare to investigate too closely."
Claudius nodded and turned his attention to Garp.
Garp, a straightforward man, immediately thumped his chest. "The Marines have already decided to stand with you this time. So, this kind of thing? I can handle it, no problem!
When the time comes, our warship will enter Mariejois carrying the royal family and the Revolutionary Army.
No one will suspect a thing."
As one of the key figures in Marine Headquarters, Garp held considerable authority. Though he never actively sought power, any major Marine decisions always had to go through him.
Moreover, most of Marine Headquarters' senior officers were already siding with Claudius. Forming alliances to increase their chances of success was a given, and assisting in this kind of favor was only natural.
Since Garp had taken responsibility for the task, Claudius had no doubts about his ability to get it done, so he nodded.
He then addressed both Spandine and Dragon. "Alright, we'll go with this plan. With the Marines backing it up and CP-X covering for them, your Revolutionary Army shouldn't have any trouble getting into Mariejois on a large scale."
Dragon smirked slightly and said, "With all the different people attending the Reverie, even without your help, our Revolutionary Army could still find a way in."
But after a brief pause, he added, "That said, your plan is the safest approach. I won't argue—I'll go along with your arrangements."
Just as he finished speaking, Garp snorted coldly, pointed at Dragon, and said, "I don't care about the others, but you, brat—you're coming with me. Hand over your Vivre Card. I'll personally take my warship and pick you up!"
Dragon's face fell, the corner of his mouth twitching. "No, I can get in on my own. Look, I've already infiltrated the so-called 'Holy Land,' and no one even noticed."
As soon as he said that, Lucci's gaze sharpened slightly, and he remarked, "That's only because I wasn't here. There are plenty of strong agents in CP. You might not be as lucky next time."
Dragon felt helpless. Was that the point I was trying to make? Can't you guys see I'm trying to dodge this? Wouldn't it be much easier for me to sneak in with Spandine later?
Garp followed up on Lucci's words, saying, "Exactly! The security during the Reverie is far tighter than it is now. Don't mess up our operation, brat! Just hurry up and hand over your Vivre Card!"
As he spoke, Garp reached out his hand.
Dragon looked conflicted but eventually sighed, reached into his coat, and pulled out a Vivre Card. "Here, this is mine."
"What, are you afraid that your old man will betray you?" Garp glared at him, clearly annoyed.
Vivre Cards are commonly used as tracking tools, much like Log Poses, except they track a person's unique life force.
Claudius had never made one for himself. After all, if not used carefully, a Vivre Card could be a double-edged sword. Take Dragon, for example, if his Vivre Card fell into the hands of the World Government, he'd have nowhere to run. He'd be hunted day and night by CP agents, with no place to hide.
After taking the Vivre Card, Garp tore it in half.
Dragon instinctively reached out to take the other half, but Garp smacked his hand away before handing it to Claudius instead.
Claudius smirked and said, "I don't know what kind of cooperation your CP-X has with the Revolutionary Army, but let's just say this Vivre Card is a token of trust. If you dare to pull any tricks, we'll hunt you down and beat you senseless!"
Though Claudius trusted Dragon, he certainly didn't mind having extra leverage, so he gladly accepted it with a grin.
Dragon's expression darkened as he turned to Garp. "So, is he your son, or am I? Why are you screwing me over like this?"
"Oh? So now you remember that I'm your father?" Garp barked back, scolding him.
Dragon looked at Claudius, then let out a long sigh. In the end, he said nothing. He had already handed over the Vivre Card, it was too late to complain. He just had to accept that Claudius would probably tease him about this forever.
