Chapter 42 - King Neptune’s Decision

The coral spires of Ryugu Palace shimmered in the filtered sunlight beneath the sea, casting long shadows over the marble floors of the royal court. A soft hum of ocean life echoed through the domed halls, as tension lingered in the air like a passing current.

The seventh day had arrived.

The day when Captain Jessie would either set sail into the New World... or leave Fish-Man Island with one fewer dream.

Jessie, calm and composed, stood tall at the gates of the palace. His coat rustled slightly in the undersea breeze, his eyes reflecting determination. As the towering golden gates opened, he was greeted by the three sons of King Neptune — Fukaboshi, Ryuboshi, and Manboshi — each wearing ceremonial robes and carrying solemn expressions.

"Captain Jessie," Fukaboshi greeted, bowing slightly. "Father is waiting."

Jessie nodded. No words were needed.

Days earlier...

Inside the royal chambers, a storm of emotion had shaken the halls. King Neptune sat in deep contemplation, beard clutched in his hand, his eyes distant as the weight of history bore down on his shoulders.

His sons stood before him — tense, grieving, and protective.

"No, Father!" cried Ryuboshi, slamming his fist on the coral rail. "We cannot entrust Shirahoshi to that man! We just met him!"

"Our sister is not a bargaining piece," said Manboshi, fists clenched, his voice trembling.

Fukaboshi, the eldest, stepped forward, his voice firm yet respectful. "Even if his intentions are noble, we don't know what lies in the New World. It's too dangerous. We cannot allow her to leave!"

King Neptune closed his eyes and exhaled deeply. He had expected resistance — but the truth had to be said.

"When we went to the Reverie," the king began slowly, "we were nearly powerless. If not for the intervention of others, Shirahoshi would have been taken by a Celestial Dragon — kidnapped like property."

The room fell silent.

"We had no strength to stop it... only fear," Neptune continued, pain in his voice. "The only reason she remained free was because pirates stood up — Monkey D. Luffy, and now... Jessie..... The world sees her as an Ancient Weapon. The moment they decide to move against us... we won't be able to protect her. Not here. Not anymore."

His voice broke slightly. "Only Jessie... and his crew... have the freedom, the unpredictability, and the power to protect her from what's coming."

The three sons stood in silence, their eyes beginning to well with tears. Slowly, painfully, they began to understand.

Their father wasn't surrendering Shirahoshi.

He was saving her.

Later that evening...

The royal family stood before Shirahoshi, the gentle giantess with ocean-blue eyes and a heart as pure as coral bloom.

"Shirahoshi," King Neptune asked, voice steady but kind, "What do you think of Jessie and his crew?"

Shirahoshi tilted her head, thinking deeply, then smiled softly. "They're kind... like Luffy. They make me laugh. And they... they don't look at me like I'm a weapon."

Her eyes sparkled. "Father... may I go with them?"

Neptune's lip quivered slightly before he gave a slow nod.

"Yes. If that is your wish... you may join the Voidreign Pirates. I believe you will be safe among them."

Present Day

Jessie stood once again in the main hall of Ryugu Palace. King Neptune descended the royal stairs slowly, dressed in his battle-worn armor — not for war, but for legacy.

Behind him, Shirahoshi approached, her massive tail gliding across the floor like a silk ribbon.

Neptune looked Jessie in the eyes — ancient royalty meeting the gaze of a rising pirate king.

Then... the king and his three sons bowed.

"Captain Jessie," Neptune said solemnly, "We entrust our beloved daughter to you. Please... protect Shirahoshi. Keep her safe in the storm that is to come."

Jessie stepped forward and gave a soft smile. "I promise you. As long as she sails under the flag of the Voidreign, no one — not the World Government, not the Celestial Dragons, not even the Yonko — will harm her."

The three brothers, tears in their eyes, nodded slowly.

Shirahoshi turned to Jessie and gave him a warm, genuine smile.

"Thank you, Captain Jessie."

Jessie grinned.

"Welcome aboard... Shirahoshi."

They returned to the docks together — Jessie leading the way, Shirahoshi towering behind him, with King Neptune and his sons in respectful escort. The crew of the Voidreign stood near the ship, curious and alert.

Uta, who had been sitting on a railing, stood up in surprise as she saw the royal entourage approaching.

"Jessie... are they here to say goodbye to us?"

Jessie shook his head and said with a small smirk, "No. They're here... to introduce our new crewmate."

The crew fell silent for a heartbeat, eyes widening.

"Everyone," Jessie said, stepping aside. "Meet Shirahoshi. She's joining us."

Kuina and Uta gasped in unison.

"W-Welcome to the Voidreign, Shirahoshi!" Uta said with a glowing smile, waving excitedly.

"Yes, welcome," Kuina added warmly. "We're glad to have you."

"Thank you all," Shirahoshi replied shyly, bowing her head.

Then Uta tilted her head, staring at Shirahoshi's enormous size.

"Uhhh... Jessie?" she whispered. "How is she going to fit on the ship?"

Jessie smirked mischievously.

Without a word, he reached into his System Space and pulled out the Shrinky Flash Light — a sleek silver device with glowing blue accents.

He clicked it on.

A beam of light shimmered across the dock, hitting Shirahoshi square in the chest. Her body shimmered like starlight before magically shrinking down to a height equal to Uta's.

The crew gasped.

"What the—?!"

"Captain, what is that?!"

Even King Neptune stumbled back slightly in awe.

Shirahoshi blinked, now looking at her own smaller hands. "W-What happened?"

Jessie casually pulled out a second item from his system — the elegant, glowing Mermaid Shell Transmuter.

"Next prop," he said. "This one's for you."

He handed it to Shirahoshi and nodded. "Hold it close and whisper into it."

Shirahoshi held the shimmering shell near her lips and whispered something softly.

In the blink of an eye, a column of golden light surrounded her. Her mermaid tail dissolved into radiant sparkles, transforming into long, graceful human legs.

The crew, Neptune, and his sons watched in stunned silence as Shirahoshi stepped gently onto the ship's deck — her first step as a sailor of the surface.

She turned in awe, spinning once and smiling at her new form.

"I... I can walk...!"

Jessie smiled.

"You can run too, if you want."

The deck erupted with cheers, laughter, and applause. Even Blackeye Panda did a tiny fist pump from Meruem's shoulder while chewing bamboo.

Shirahoshi looked back once more at her father and brothers.

They stood proudly, tears in their eyes... but hearts full of hope.

And then, for the first time, Shirahoshi raised her hand high, waving goodbye not with sorrow... but with strength.

She was no longer just a princess.

She was now a pirate.

A member of the Voidreign.
