Chapter 42 – Lamentations (1)

“Yes sir!”

Ye Xiaolang hurriedly went to support Ye Mu and Mo Linyuan who had suffered a heavy injury. As Mo Linyuan stood up, blood flowed out from the corner of his mouth, and Ye Xiaolang hurriedly motioned for him to receive Ye Mu. However, the unconscious Ye Mu held on tightly to Mo Linyuan’s clothes without letting go.

Seeing this, Mo Linyuan wiped the blood from the corners of his mouth and gave a slight smile. He shook his head at Xiaolang before leaving with Ye Mu in his arms.

After exiting the room, he turned around to glance at the courtyard behind him. His phoenix eyes narrowed slightly on his frosty face. That bone-piercing killing intent was completely unconcealed, as if it could swallow everything in its path…

To dare to harm her—so what if it was the first wife? He had to make these people pay the price with their blood.

Meanwhile, Ye Li sent someone to treat Ye Mu. While the doctor was opening the medicine, he looked at Mo Linyuan and asked ambiguously.

“What else did you take out of the treasure pile?”

Mo Linyuan shook his head, indicating that he really did not have anything behind his sleeves anymore.

“You think I would believe you?” Ye Li sat on the stool and coldly snorted, “You threatened to use the Imperial Jade Seal from the treasures to make me leave the banquet today. Do you believe I’m naive and refuse to think that perhaps you will take out something else tomorrow? Ridiculous! You cannot leave this place with your life intact.”

Mo Linyuan pursed his lips. Before, in a panic, he thought of a method to force Ye Li to save Ye Mu. Now that the person had been saved, Ye Li would naturally not let him off.

Mo Linyuan glanced at Ye Mu with a calm expression. No matter what, as long as she was fine, all of this was worth it, he mused to himself. But he couldn’t die yet, so he could only open his mouth to save himself.

However, just as he was about to open his mouth to speak, Ye Mu’s low cough came from the bed. Mo Linyuan hurriedly walked to Ye Mu’s side and Ye Mu grabbed his arm!

Mo Linyuan was startled. He lowered his head and saw Ye Mu’s round eyes. She mouthed a signal—stop talking.

“Mu’er?”

Ye Li stood up and looked over the bed. This bizarre daughter of his…he realized held some value to him. She had given all the treasures to him, using all of them to honor him; she was the only daughter who was loyal to him. Moreover, with Ye Mu’s mother dead, he had no one else to rely on in the manor but this child.

“Father…”

Ye Mu laid on the bed and looked at him weakly.

“…You said that Aji was threatening you, but truthfully…Truthfully, I was the one who asked him to do it.”

“What?!” Ye Li’s eyes turned cold. However, when he was about to speak, he saw large tears suddenly fall down Ye Mu’s small, pale face.

“…If I didn’t, how could father have come so quickly to save me…”

It was the first time in his life that Ye Li felt guilty, but he quickly glared at her!

“Even still, you shouldn’t have taken that thing! And you even got someone to threaten me, did you even know what that is?!”

Ye Mu shook her head, looking pitiful, “I don’t know what it is, I just want to look at it and play with it. I really didn’t bring anything else, so if you don’t believe me, you can go take a look at the treasures. There must be some sort of account book inside—count them and you’ll know that I’m not lying.”

Ye Mu’s words made sense. Furthermore, given her young age, it was uncalled for her to be deceitful. She thought that the Imperial Jade Seal looked good, so it wasn’t impossible for a child like her to develop a fancy for it, in turn making her take it out.
