Our Love Story: Hard to Guard Against the Sudden Love Strike-Chapter 438 - 417: Playful Bickering
Sienna Thornton thought back carefully. Simon Forrester had never explicitly admitted it before; she always asked, and he neither confirmed nor denied it.
But he had admitted more than once that she was his first girlfriend and the first person he liked.
Maybe she had misunderstood...
Sienna eased the conflicting feelings of disappointment in her heart, lifted her drooping head, sat up straight, and before she could speak, she saw Simon looking at her with a mischievous grin.
She felt a bit angry and was just about to stand up when Simon pulled her into his arms.
"Where are you going?"
She struggled, "To pack my things!"
"Leaving?" He laughed, holding her tight, "You were the one who asked if I brought the secretary upstairs. I answered honestly, and now you’re angry?"
She huffed, turning her face to the side, "I don’t like men who fool around with their secretaries!"
"Fool around?" He chuckled, "Who says bringing a secretary upstairs means fooling around?"
Her gaze returned, her tone a bit cold, "Oh, so it’s serious business?"
Simon laughed out loud, picked her up in his sturdy arms, and twirled her around the walk-in closet.
"Yes, very serious." He stopped teasing her, and with a single sentence, the flood of grievances in her heart dissipated, "That brat Harrison wouldn’t dare mess with me."
Sienna: "..."
She was startled, having just been resting softly on his shoulder. Now she straightened up, holding his face, and asked, "Harrison? You mean the secretary you brought up to sleep with was Harrison?!"
He flashed a bright smile, "Who else did you think it was?"
She belatedly realized that he had been teasing her all along, trying to see her get jealous and upset. She stomped her foot in anger, but since he was holding her, her feet dangled in the air, making her seem like a child throwing a futile tantrum while being held by an adult.
He laughed even harder, while she blushed in embarrassment and punched his shoulder, "You scoundrel!"
"Come, give the scoundrel a kiss."
He leaned in, and she opened her palm against his cheek, trying to push him away. He took the opportunity to do the opposite, his lips lightly brushing against her palm, giving a gentle kiss.
He carried her to the soft stool and sat down, one hand supporting her back, the other raised to the sky, "I, Simon Forrester, swear to the heavens, in this life, there is only Sienna Thornton for me. Whether in the past, present, or future, from birth to death and beyond, there will only be her! If there’s any falsehood in my words, may I eat overly spicy lamb knuckles for every meal for the rest of my life!"
After speaking, he lowered his hands, wrapped her in his arms, and whispered in her ear, "Relieved now? Was that oath fierce enough?"
Sienna giggled, cupping his face, gazing earnestly into his eyes, seeing her reflection in his amber pupils.
She asked, "Do you think I’m being overdramatic?"
"Once in a while is bearable, but if you do it every few days, no way, I’d go crazy."
She chuckled, holding him softly, "Alright, this is the last time. I won’t ask about it anymore. Sorry."
He gently patted her back, "It’s okay. I know you’ve been under a lot of work pressure lately, and feeling anxious is normal. Also, since you’ve never been in a relationship before, it’s understandable to be naive and sensitive about these things. If you’d been in a few relationships, you’d be more tolerant of these issues."
"Been in a few?" Her playful nature was piqued, as she wrapped her arms around his neck and asked, "Then if this is your first relationship too, how come you’re so tolerant and never ask about these things?"
He took a moment to reply, and after a long pause, he said quietly, "I’ve already fallen out with Thomas Reed. We’re practically not in contact now. Is that what you call tolerant?"
"Huh?" Sienna sat up straight, shocked, "I thought your relationship was just lukewarm before, but it was because of me?"
"Would I look after his dog if it was lukewarm? Or let his dog into my house?"
Sienna exclaimed, jumping off his lap to sit beside him, linking her fingers with his, resting her head on his shoulder, "I don’t want to see you like this; after all, he’s your only cousin. If Grandpa finds out it’s because of me, he’ll blame me, won’t he?"
"Grandpa doesn’t know. He thinks I fell out with Thomas Reed because he lost money in real estate and lost my investment money."
He said this only to comfort Sienna. The shrewd Old Master Forrester surely knew the rift between the cousins was over a woman. However, the elder also understood his grandson’s charming nature, so he sided with Simon and Sienna.
.
Sienna wasn’t one to hold a grudge, so after Simon comforted and guided her, that was the end of it.
After a little lover’s tiff, their relationship became even closer, and they stayed glued to each other all night.
They cooked together, ate together, cleaned up the kitchen together, then took a bath together, washed and hung clothes, watched a little TV, and when it was about time, they went to bed and slept.
The next day was the first working day after the National Day holiday. Because Sienna lived close to work, she slept in until after eight, then spent half an hour washing up, getting dressed, and doing simple work makeup.
Once ready, seeing she only had fifteen minutes left, she grabbed her bag and quickly left the room.
Simon was busy with something at the dining table. While looking for her shoes, she told him, "I’m off to work. I have to work overtime and eat at the office tonight, so handle dinner on your own."
"Wait a second," Simon walked over from the dining table side, "I’m going to rinse my mouth, grab a coat, and take you there."
"Hey—" Sienna called out, but Simon had already gone into the room.
Shortly after, she had put on her high heels, and he came out wearing a dark Italora tailored suit, a French shirt, and a dark tie, looking composed and gentlemanly.
However, with such a high-end outfit, his right hand was holding a transparent plastic bag which seemed to contain some white stuff.
He came over, stuffed what he was holding into Sienna’s handbag, and walked out with her arm in arm.
The two of them went down the stairs together, the click-clack of high heels echoing in the stairwell.
Sienna felt around in her bag, "What did you put in here?"
He said, "A sandwich." Simon wrapped an arm around her waist, "You didn’t have breakfast. When you get to the office, make some coffee to go with the sandwich."
"No need, I can just buy a bun from the roadside. Why bother making a sandwich when you could sleep a little longer?"
He chuckled and said, "I’m not a pig. Why would I sleep so much every day?"
Understanding he was making fun of her as a pig, Sienna laughed and playfully smacked his butt a few times, "Birds of a feather flock together. If I’m a pig, you’ll become one too sooner or later."
After hitting him, she burst into laughter herself.
