Out of Control: Into Your Everything-Chapter 186: Giving You One More Chance to Regret
Given that Julian Ford had promised not to push her away because of his illness, Scarlett Shaw seized the opportunity and quickly contacted Josiah Sutton, wanting to schedule Julian Ford’s surgery as soon as possible.
"The eldest heir of the Ford family, the president of Veridian wants to have surgery, of course, he’s welcome anytime."
Josiah Sutton’s expression today was particularly unpleasant, dark circles under his eyes, and his words carrying a hint of sarcasm.
Scarlett Shaw couldn’t help but be a little stunned.
Josiah Sutton glanced at Julian Ford, and with a cold demeanor, continued, "As long as your schedule allows, I’ll get in touch and arrange it as soon as possible."
Although the decision for treatment was made, Julian Ford still didn’t plan to let his family know.
Naturally, he wanted to keep it as low-profile as possible.
He didn’t intend to delay work affairs for too long either.
Julian Ford was contemplating the timing when he felt an intense gaze warning him, and he met Scarlett Shaw’s eyes: No delays!
"At the latest, within a month."
He finally said.
Josiah Sutton nodded, his gaze wandering over the two of them, eventually resting on Julian Ford’s indifferent and aloof face. After some thought, he still said:
"Since you two have come to an understanding, I won’t hide some real facts from you."
"Julian has experienced dizziness twice that severely affected his normal life, indicating that thing is already pressing on the nerves, and the chance of it being benign is minuscule. You should be mentally prepared for long-term treatment after surgery."
"The treatment process for a brain tumor is a test of willpower for both the patient and their family."
Josiah Sutton looked at Scarlett Shaw, his expression grave.
"Although it’s hard to accept, I must remind you that there is the possibility of the worst outcome."
Perhaps having heard similar statements before, Julian Ford’s expression didn’t change much, he just responded with a slight "hmm."
However, Scarlett Shaw, facing this issue with Julian Ford for the first time today, was suddenly deflated of her momentum upon hearing Josiah Sutton’s words.
The hand held by Julian Ford was trembling.
Leaving Josiah Sutton’s office, Julian Ford looked down and saw his girlfriend’s eyelashes trembling, he tousled her hair and smiled:
"You’re the one who courageously insisted on facing this with me, and now you’re the one trembling with fear. What, are you thinking of backing out?"
"Of course not."
Scarlett Shaw nervously gripped his hand tightly, as if afraid that letting go would mean losing him.
She earnestly admitted, "I seem to have overestimated my ability to handle this."
Compared to Julian Ford, the actual patient, she, as a family member, felt even more dejected after hearing Josiah Sutton’s words.
"Besides showing you my anxiety and sadness, it seems like staying by your side is all I can do."
Scarlett Shaw said, dejected.
Julian Ford raised an eyebrow, "Then I’ll give you one more chance to regret it."
She quickly hugged him, "I definitely don’t regret it."
"Mhm."
He caught her, as if pulling her into his body, holding her tightly.
"Even if you wanted to leave, I wouldn’t give you the chance again."
Leaving the hospital with Julian Ford, Scarlett Shaw’s mind was filled with Josiah Sutton’s warnings, leaving her unsettled.
To distract herself, she casually asked, "Was Josiah in a bad mood today? He looked so upset."
"Being dumped for no reason for three years and then seeing the person not only without any remorse but avoiding him like the plague, naturally, he wouldn’t be in a good mood."
Because of the previous racing incident, for safety considerations, unless it was an emergency like last time with Liam Spencer, Julian Ford hardly drove himself anymore. Today, Aaron Carson was their driver.
Scarlett Shaw was taken aback, "Could it be that Josiah saw Mia?"
Julian Ford turned to look at her, "You know Mia?"
Scarlett Shaw then confessed that during her last business trip to Cloud Harbor, Dragon Group wanted to connect with her through someone, and that person was Mia.
Julian Ford immediately frowned, and before Scarlett Shaw could say anything further, he sternly and seriously reminded, "Stay away from Mia."
Scarlett Shaw instinctively asked, "Why?"
"I’ve said it before, Dragon Group’s waters are deep. If Mia is truly holding a key position at Dragon Group and is highly valued, there’s no way for her and Josiah to be together in the future."
Julian Ford’s expression was profoundly secretive, and he stopped there, not planning to elaborate further.
The cutthroat nature of the business world is common, and Scarlett Shaw understood the implication behind Julian Ford’s words. She immediately realized that the things Mia did for Dragon Group probably went beyond just skirting the edge of the law.
She fell silent.
Though Scarlett Shaw had only met Mia once, she had left a strong impression.
Such a free-spirited person, when mentioning Josiah Sutton, had endless yearning in her bright eyes, yet was involved in unspeakable deeds. It’s hard to say if it’s the work of destiny or the cruelty of fate.
Scarlett Shaw and Julian Ford tacitly avoided continuing the topic about Josiah Sutton and Mia, but Aaron Carson suddenly changed the speed of the car.
Scarlett Shaw looked up and noticed his hesitant expression in the rearview mirror, asking, "Rhonda, what’s up?"
Aaron Carson met her gaze.
With his eyes full of hesitation, as if suggesting: Are you sure you want me to say it now?
Seeing Aaron Carson’s concern, Scarlett Shaw openly and calmly said, "Say it boldly, President Ford and I have no secrets now!"
Aaron Carson: "..."
He’s seen thick-skinned people, but never someone this thick-skinned.
Aaron Carson subconsciously glanced at Julian Ford’s expression.
This glance, with the intention of seeking approval and a hint of hoping his boss would immediately address Scarlett Shaw’s smug expression, was almost palpable.
However, Aaron Carson’s wishful thinking was all in vain.
Julian Ford not only didn’t deny Scarlett Shaw’s words but also gently squeezed her palm, indulgingly saying, "Aaron, listen to her."
Aaron Carson: "..."
Is this still his boss!!!
The ruthless and never-bowing leader!!!
Aaron Carson silently calmed his disappointed little heart and seriously said, "When I was helping you investigate Anna Ford, I was a bit more cautious. Not only did I look into her past ten years, but also her life before she left Cloud Harbor."
Upon hearing this, Scarlett Shaw couldn’t help but praise, "Nice job, Rhonda, using your knowledge so skillfully, worthy of being President Ford’s top assistant."
Aaron Carson: "..."
Julian Ford glanced at Scarlett Shaw indifferently, his gaze then falling on the back of Aaron Carson’s head, his voice calm yet authoritative:
"Why were you helping her investigate before?"
This time, it was Scarlett Shaw’s turn to fall into silence.
Aaron Carson initially planned to take this opportunity to trick Scarlett Shaw, just about to spill the truth, but upon thinking, wait a minute, wasn’t he the one who pretended to be a couple with Scarlett Shaw behind President Ford’s back?!
Aaron Carson also fell silent.
However, as just a small assistant, he couldn’t remain silent for long, so he steered the conversation back to the main issue, saying:
"The information I gathered was quite ordinary, nothing special. But I accidentally discovered that before Anna Ford disappeared from Cloud Harbor, a man would often visit her home. According to her neighbors, they were very close but kept their relationship secret, much like lovers."
Julian Ford looked up, "Who is that man?"
Aaron Carson: "Currently the head of Dragon Group, Dominic Locke."
