Chapter 33: Why does it have to be him 2
Victoria Garcia met his gaze and calmly said, “He never lied to me. Everything is what I willingly chose.”
Alexander Mitchell shook his head and asked, “Do you know that he has a wife? If he has a wife, how can you be his fiancee?”
“It doesn’t matter.” Victoria replied indifferently, recalling what Arnold Johnson had said: You only need to know that you will become my one and only legal wife. Don’t worry about anything else.
Deep down, she had trusted him.
Trusted him unconditionally.
Seeing the still beautiful and cold Victoria, Alexander’s disbelief and shock was evident on his face.
“How could you say such a thing?”
“I can say even more offensive things, do you want to hear them?” Victoria had always been like this when she spoke.
In the words of Victoria’s roommate, Serenity Brown: Victoria’s words are always choking, that’s normal. If eight out of ten sentences choke people, that’s an exceptional performance.
Apparently, Alexander knew a little about her character too.
“Victoria, let’s stop this nonsense, okay?”
The compromise and tenderness in his tone was like honey that wouldn’t dissolve, sticking to Victoria’s body.
“I know you’ve been wronged. You agreed to follow Arnold only because he could save your aunt, but now…” Alexander stopped speaking, afraid that it might sadden her. He then changed the topic, “I’ll talk to Arnold. If he’s willing to let you go, I’m willing to do anything.”
Alexander might not be mature or rational enough, but his genuine heart towards Victoria was real and without any falsehood.
In her sight, the howling North wind flashed by, cold and painful under the sunlight. Like Alexander’s love, simple yet precious to her. But in reality, she needed something more complex.
“You can’t give me what I want.”
The most brutal yet the least brutal rejection was being blunt.
At the same time, it was the rejection that allowed others to give up the most. Victoria chose to be blunt once again.
No matter if others believed it or not, she believed in it herself.
“Is what Arnold gives you what you really want?” Alexander’s expression was filled with pain and restraint.
He looked at her, and her slightly upturned eyes, although enchanting as spring breeze, were like the cold Metropolis’ North wind, piercing his heart painfully.
“Yes.”

The only answer she could give him was confirmation.
“I don’t believe it!” Alexander roared.
From high school to third year of college, he knew her for six years, loved her for six years. If fame and wealth could make her compromise, she wouldn’t have waited until this day.
“You don’t believe it because the temptations you encountered were not big enough. I believe it because I think Arnold’s temptations to me are great.”
If her rejection just now had hurt Alexander, her words now pushed him to the brink, a kind of never-ending desperation.
He didn’t know what kind of person Arnold Johnson was.
But Victoria’s words were so real that they were hard not to believe.
It is always difficult to accept the reality expressed through such cruel and brutally honest words.
I’m sorry! Victoria said in her heart to Alexander.
She didn’t say it out loud, because she felt that such a proud person like Alexander didn’t need the words “I’m sorry.”
