Chapter 82: She’s gone

Chapter 82: She’s gone

Arnold Johnson was only halfway in his car when she received a call from Little Sister.

“Victoria, where are you now?” Hannah Garcia’s voice was anxious and fast.

Upon hearing this voice, Victoria instinctively sat up straighter.

“Hannah, what happened?”

Harriet replied, “It’s Ava… she seems to be missing.”

“What do you mean, seems to be?” Victoria found the phrasing headache inducing.

Hannah gritted her teeth on the other end before saying, “Ten days ago, Ava called me and asked me to find out about something. She said to call her back once I had the full story. But when I tried to call her last night, her phone was switched off. I tried many times today, and it’s still switched off. Worried, I went to the school to find her, only to learn from her dormmates that she left the dorm two days ago and hasn’t returned since.”

“What did she want you to find out?” Victoria asked.

Harriet had to admit, “She wanted me to inquire about Young Master Lee at the school.”

“Can’t you stop doing such things for your thoughtless sister?” Victoria’s voice raised a decibel as she said this.

But soon she calmed down again, knowing that it was not the time to discuss Ava piquing interest in the wealthy young master.

“Was your last communication with Ava ten days ago?”

“Yes, that’s correct,” Harriet confirmed, “I tried finding people who know Ava today, but nobody knows where she’s gone. I’m not sure if she’s being playful or if she’s truly missing.”

Victoria took a breath to calm herself then said, “Harriet, Sister should be done with her exams, too. Why don’t you both go home and wait? I will find Ava.”

“Victoria, may I search for Ava with you?” Harriet pleaded on the other end of the line.

Victoria directly refused, “Obey me and go home and wait with Sister.”

“Victoria, I’m grown up now, I can help.”

Victoria paused for a moment before saying, “Okay, if I need your help while searching for Ava, I will call you, alright?”

Harriet, gripping her phone, glanced at the darkening sky. Her bright eyes dimmed halfway, answering, “Okay.”

She knew that if something significant had happened to Ava, Victoria would definitely keep her and Sister out of it.

“Trust me, Harriet! I will bring Ava home. Then we four sisters can celebrate New Year together,” Victoria said softly.

Victoria hung up the phone and met Arnold’s gaze.

Then, she made two more calls, to friends she knew were close to Ava.

Both of them said over the phone that they had no idea where Ava might be.

“Leave it to me. I will have someone look into her recent whereabouts,” Arnold told her before he pulled out his phone to make a call.

Victoria sat silently in the passenger seat, looking at his profile, and at the curve of his lips as he spoke…
