Chapter 31: Chapter 31: I Admit It, Alright?
Looking at the moonlight streaming in through the sunroof of the car, the man's sturdy arm rested lightly under his head. After sending a message, Gu Jingchen's entire mood relaxed.
The man's lips curled faintly with elegance. Gazing at the early summer landscape, he imagined future happiness. In that moment, it was as if the entire world had settled into peace.
And then, in that very moment, the harsh sound of a phone call broke the silence.
"Gu Jingchen, I order you to return to the base by 9 AM tomorrow! Whatever the issue is, we'll talk face to face." Sure enough, it was a fiery temper. Yu Cheng's call came through, and before Gu Jingchen could even get a word in, the other end began unleashing a torrent of roaring commands!
"Alright."
The man immediately stretched his long legs, stepped out of the car, stood firm in a highly disciplined stance, and replied with a solemn expression.
The call was abruptly hung up from the other side, with a loud slam—a clear indication of temper.

"Ah, what's meant to come will come." Gu Jingchen couldn't help but shake his head, a faint, bitter smile appearing on his handsome face. Then, he returned to the car.
Checking the time, the man lingered in the car for a while longer. Reclining on the seat, he gazed tenderly and longingly in the direction of the dormitory. Only when he absolutely had to leave did he start his car and drive away.
The next morning.
The three young women had no classes in the morning. Though it wasn't yet mealtime, they were already awake, each lazing in bed and lost in thought.
"Xixia, who was the man who took me to the hospital yesterday?" Zhou Xingyan's cheeks flushed red again and again as she hesitated before sticking out her adorable little tongue and finally asking.
"The one who carried you to the hospital yesterday?" Shang Xixia raised her clear brows, looked at her close friend, and repeated the question.
"Mhm." Zhou Xingyan nodded with determination.
"That was Gu Jingrui. He's Gu Jingchen's younger brother and a professor in the rock mechanics department at the School of Architecture. He's very accomplished. Actually, all four children in the Gu family are exceptional. Brother Jingchen achieved great success completing numerous missions at a young age. The second eldest, Gu Jingyu, is also a professor at our university. The third is Gu Jingrui, and the fourth, a twin named Gu Jingxin, is a professor at the Medical School and currently practices at the First Hospital's specialist clinic. Although they're professors, they're also the heads of the Gu Group. Grandpa Gu and their father have long since retired. I used to play with them all the time when we were little, but later they moved away. Most of what I know now comes from stories my father told me."
The young girl pursed her lips as she shared everything she knew. She turned her slender body, rested her delicate face on her hands, and, blinking her crystalline lashes, lay on her stomach, sinking into thought.
"Xixia, what are you daydreaming about? At a time like this, shouldn't you be asking why Xingyan wants to know who Gu Jingrui is? Oh, look at that blush! Xingyan, are you starting to have springtime feelings?"
Yu Tingting rolled out of bed in one swift motion, landing on the floor and looking at Zhou Xingyan with mischief in her eyes. Zhou Xingyan, unable to avoid her questioning gaze, turned her small face inward against the bed, her blush deepening to the point of resembling dripping blood.
"Spill it, Xingyan. Did you fall in love at first sight?" Yu Tingting planted her hands on her hips, standing at the side of the bed and glaring at Zhou Xingyan with an air that said she wouldn't relent until she got answers.
"..." Too shy to speak, the typically introverted Zhou Xingyan, who had never experienced love, wasn't as bold as Yu Tingting. She hid her delicate face beneath the blanket and resolutely decided to remain silent as long as she could still breathe.
"Come on, Xingyan, we agreed not to keep secrets from each other! If you like him, just tell us! Love at first sight isn't a bad thing, you know."
Yu Tingting's curiosity grew even stronger. She reached out her fair hand to tickle the petite woman beside her.
"Alright, alright, I admit it, okay? I like him! Even though I know we're on completely different levels, with him soaring high in the sky while I'm just dirt beneath his feet, I can't help it! I adore him—it's love at first sight. When he carried me, I actually woke up, but that mature masculinity of his... I told myself to indulge for just a little longer, just a moment more. I know I'm not good enough for him, but if you love someone, you want them to be happy. I'll bless him with all my heart!"
Mustering all her courage, Zhou Xingyan finally sat up from under the blanket, her cheeks still pink. She looked at Yu Tingting and Shang Xixia, both studying her with gossip-filled eyes, and nodded resolutely as she confessed.
"Silly girl, if you like him, why don't you go for it?" Yu Tingting felt a pang of sympathy for her best friend's unspoken crush. If it had been her, she wouldn't hesitate to take bold action.
"We're from completely different worlds—I'm in the dust, and he's in the clouds. Offering my blessings is enough." The young girl's beautiful brows carried a hint of sorrow and helplessness. She wasn't someone ruled by practicality, but she understood the harsh realities of the world.
"Alright, alright, let's drop the subject. Come on, let's go eat!" Shang Xixia truly felt for her dear friend. Having once harbored feelings for Li Chengxi, she understood all too well what Zhou Xingyan was going through. To change the topic, and perhaps to avoid Yu Tingting's unstoppable gossip train from targeting her next, Shang Xixia quickly got out of bed, rushed into the bathroom to address her urgent needs, fetched her water basin, and left to get hot water.
"Ugh, look how fast she runs! She's getting away!"
Yu Tingting glanced at Zhou Xingyan, shook her head, and started preparing for her own morning tasks.
Meanwhile, in an impeccably arranged and solemn setting, deafening chants occasionally echoed through the glass. Yet none of this disrupted the tense confrontation occurring between two men.
On the top floor—the fifth level—of Yu Cheng's office, the atmosphere was icy and austere.
Yu Cheng's expression was coldly serious. His piercing eyes carried an air of absolute authority.
