Pampered by My Secret Husband-Chapter 614 - 617: Bad person, don’t bite me!
Sophie was really hungry now. After exerting herself for so long, she hadn’t eaten dinner or had a sip of water. By now, she was absolutely starving.
She pursed her lips, her eyes sparkling. "But Mom told me not to just eat things from strangers."
"Mom was talking about other people. Your husband is family; you can eat whatever you like," Thomas Shannon smirked, lowering his head, about to kiss her.
To hell with you! Who are you to say ’our mom’?! If she didn’t have to keep up the act, Sophie would have loved to roll her eyes at him. She’d seen shameless people before, but never anyone *this* shameless. His shamelessness was unparalleled!
As Thomas Shannon’s handsome face slowly drew closer, Sophie’s face tensed, and she pushed him away with a quick, precise, and firm shove.
Sophie clapped a hand over his thin lips, her eyes darting around. "You bad person, don’t bite me!"
Thomas Shannon was speechless.
KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK—
The sound of knocking came from the door, where a servant stood. "Young Master, your midnight snack is ready."
"Bring it in."
After Thomas Shannon spoke, he picked Sophie up and sat down with her on the sofa. Servants filed in, arranging the exquisite midnight snacks neatly on the tea table.
The aroma of food wafted into her nostrils, and Sophie fought to suppress the feeling of hunger.
She glanced at Thomas Shannon. He was waving for the maidservant to leave. The maidservant collected the tray, bowed respectfully, took a few steps back, and then exited the bedroom.
"What are you looking at me for? Aren’t you hungry?"
Sophie kept her distance, moving to sit directly on the carpet across from him. Cupping her cheeks with both hands, she looked at him with an innocent expression. "Did you put poison in it?"
Thomas Shannon remained silent.
"You eat first," Sophie said, tilting her head. "I want to know if you’re really a good person."
Thomas Shannon nodded, picked up his chopsticks, and began to eat.
"See? No poison."
Sophie picked up her chopsticks, still half-doubting, and poked around in every dish for a moment. Thomas Shannon put down his chopsticks and watched her with a hint of a smile. "Is there a problem?"
"This food doesn’t look appetizing at all..." With a few swift movements, Sophie knocked all the dishes onto the tea table.
The smile froze on Thomas Shannon’s lips. Stay calm! he reminded himself. Restrain yourself! Be gentle! But...to hell with being gentle!
Thomas Shannon took a deep breath. "Sophie, are you provoking me?"
"You’re a bad person... You’re so scary..." Sophie scrambled up and fled, as agile as a rabbit. What happened to the delicate frailty she’d shown just moments ago when she cried out in pain?
Thomas Shannon followed her out at an unhurried pace. Sophie ran downstairs, and Thomas Shannon chased her down. Just as she was about to dash out of the castle, he caught her.
"And just where do you think you’re going?"
Facing Thomas Shannon’s icy expression, Sophie’s voice was small and weak. "I’m hungry..."
"Who was it that knocked over all the food just now?"
"...I’m hungry." Sophie kept repeating this.
Her truly pitiful appearance made it difficult for Thomas Shannon to bring himself to be harsh with her.
He raised a hand to his forehead. "I’ll have the servants make you something else."
"Aren’t you my husband?" Sophie stared into his cold eyes. Before Thomas Shannon could explain, Sophie pressed, "So why aren’t *you* making it for me?"
His handsome face expressionless, Thomas Shannon fought back the urge to hit her. "I don’t know how."
"Then why don’t you learn?"
Thomas Shannon was speechless again.
"Mom said..."
Thomas Shannon cut her off. "Alright, Mom didn’t say *that* much."
Tears welled up in Sophie’s beautiful eyes at his reprimand. Thomas Shannon took another deep breath. His voice was strained, as if squeezed from between his teeth, as he said, "Fine. I’ll go make it for you!"
