Chapter 629: Chapter 632: Fennie is not behaving at all, so I have to punish you.

"Yes, I understand! Don’t worry, Young Master Shannon. From now on, that Miss will be on our hotel’s blacklist; we’ll never let her near the hotel!"

Even if Sophie Sullivan ran as fast as she could, she was no match for Charlie River and the men in black. They formed an enclosing circle, surrounding her.

Sophie’s gaze swept past the men in black towards the tall, handsome, and distinguished man standing not far away.

At this moment, Thomas Shannon was also looking at her. Their gazes met mid-air. Thomas Shannon smirked, raising a slender, fair finger and beckoned.

Sophie snorted, pushed aside Charlie River who blocked her way, and walked towards Thomas Shannon.

"Bad person, why did you capture me?"

Still playing?

Thomas Shannon gripped her chin with interest, tilting it from side to side. "Because Fennie isn’t behaving at all, so I have to punish you."

Sophie jerked her chin free and snorted coldly. "You’re not behaving well either, so I have to punish you too."

Hmm? I’m not behaving? Why should I behave?

Sophie wanted to say more, but a flicker of movement in her peripheral vision made her stop.

As darkness fell, the crystal lamp in the center of the hotel lobby hung low, suspended in a long, spiraling design. Its golden light was dazzlingly brilliant. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

Sophie Sullivan counted down in her heart: Three... two... one...

BANG!

A gunshot rang out, and the crystal lamp crashed down violently.

With a tremendous CRASH, the crystal lamp shattered into myriad pieces. Shards of glass flew everywhere with tremendous force.

The sudden change occurred in an instant. Thomas Shannon instinctively reached out to pull the woman before him into his embrace, but his outstretched arm grasped only empty air; she was gone.

She ran!

Thomas Shannon, furious, roared, "Charlie River, guard all the exits!"

"Yes, Young Master!"

The hotel’s emergency protocols were immediately activated. Staff quickly restored power by switching the circuit breakers back on.

In the great hall, devoid of the crystal lamp’s brilliance, only the small downlights remained, casting a dimmer, somewhat somber glow.

The men in black quickly secured all hotel entrances and exits, not even overlooking those of the underground parking garage.

Sophie, escorted by Derek Clark and several other guards, ran all the way through an escape passage.

"Miss Cecilia Branford, are you alright?"

Sophie was gasping for breath, her breathing ragged. She shook her head. "I’m fine..."

Derek led her into a guest room where the window was open, a safety rope for descent already prepared.

"Miss Cecilia Branford, I’ll go down first. You follow shortly; I’ll be at the bottom to assist you."

"Alright."

Time was short, so Sophie didn’t waste any with unnecessary fuss. After Derek deftly slid down the rope, the guards began securing Sophie with safety gear.

Standing at the window and looking down, the height of over twenty meters to the ground was still terrifying.

Sophie took a deep breath, closed her eyes for a moment, then, steeling her nerves, leaned out.

Bracing her feet against the glass curtain wall, she pushed off hard, letting her body fall freely. Using a bouncing motion, she descended safely, bit by bit.

Derek was below to assist her. The remaining guards also evacuated with utmost speed, all withdrawing completely.

"Let’s go."

Once in the car, the group sped away from the hotel.

Sitting in the back seat, Sophie let out a long, slow breath of turbid air, finally sighing in relief.

"Derek, how did you know I was in danger and make preparations in advance?"

Derek said, "These past few days, every time we tried to call you, a servant would answer. They always gave various reasons and excuses, saying you weren’t available. That made us suspicious. We had already hacked the hotel’s system and linked its surveillance feeds to our computers. So, we knew the moment you arrived."
