Pampered by My Secret Husband-Chapter 667 - 670: Being Overly Attentive for No Reason, Either Cheating or Stealing [Monthly Ticket Extra Update]
Returning to the bedroom, Sophie Sullivan locked the door.
With a tangled mess in her mind, Sophie opened the wardrobe, grabbed her sleep gown, and went into the bath chamber to take a bath.
Thomas Shannon’s words echoed over and over in her head.
She understood that the natural phenomena encountered in the desert were uncontrollable.
Even with Thomas Shannon’s authority and power, he couldn’t control the occurrence of natural phenomena.
Sophie soaked in the bathtub, feeling drowsy. Subconsciously, she knew Thomas Shannon’s words might be true and that she should believe them.
But deep in her heart, there was still a thorn.
It felt like taking a bite of a delicate snack, only to discover that it had already gone bad inside. Immediately, even the previous sweetness started to taste terrible.
「The next day.」
Sophie had a restless night and woke up as soon as the sky brightened.
She left her bedroom, ready to go downstairs for breakfast.
As soon as she went downstairs, she saw Thomas Shannon sitting on the sofa, drinking coffee and flipping through a magazine.
She averted her gaze and turned towards the Restaurant.
Thomas Shannon put down his coffee, placed the magazine on the tea table with one hand, and got up to follow her.
"Good morning, Fennie."
Sophie ignored him. She sat down at the dining table and said, "Give me a cup of milk."
"Alright, maniac." The servant poured her a cup of milk and placed it in front of her.
Sophie took a few sips of milk and then picked up her knife and fork to start her breakfast.
Thomas Shannon sat down next to her, and Sophie ignored him throughout.
"Fennie, would you like some jam?" Sophie glanced over the dining table as if searching for something. Thomas Shannon picked up a small bottle of jam beside him and shook it slightly.
Sophie reached out to take it, but Thomas Shannon moved his hand back, smiling. "Let me help you."
"Unsolicited kindness is either a trick or a theft!"
Thomas Shannon chuckled deeply. He wasn’t angry; on the contrary, he raised his hand and rubbed her head. "It seems your grandfather and grandmother have taught you Country A’s culture very well."
Sophie: "..."
Thomas Shannon spread jam on the toast and handed it to her.
Sophie took it, had a few bites, then put down her knife and fork, getting up to leave.
Thomas Shannon also got up and followed her, leaving the Restaurant one after the other.
Sophie went to the medical office. As usual, she had to visit Old Mr. Standford every day.
When they arrived at the medical office, the doctors and nurses saw Sophie and Thomas Shannon. They all respectfully bowed to Thomas Shannon and said, "Good morning, Young Master."
Thomas Shannon nodded. "How is Dr. Standford’s condition?"
The doctor looked troubled. "Young Master, Dr. Standford’s condition is more serious than we thought. The liquid injected into him contained a vast number of medicinal components, and we still haven’t found a corresponding medicine to counteract their effects in his body. Every day he doesn’t wake up, his body continues to deteriorate..."
Sophie, who had remained silent, felt her breath catch in her throat upon hearing this. Her chest tightened, making it difficult for her to breathe.
She exhaled slowly. "Where is Minimus Hart?"
"Minimus Hart is in critical condition and under the supervision of nurses in another room."
Sophie nodded. If Minimus Hart wasn’t in critical condition, it wouldn’t be fair to Gabriel for all those laps he ran.
Old Mr. Standford’s condition couldn’t be delayed any longer. Sophie then said coldly, "Take me to see her."
"Alright, maniac, follow me." The nurse led Sophie to the room where Minimus Hart was.
Thomas Shannon stood in place and lit a cigarette. A faint smile touched the corner of his mouth as he watched Sophie’s retreating figure.
